So how's the tone of the series? From the character design it seems to be female-oriented show with ikemen

It's been getting heavier as Nobu gets old enough to be involved in matters, half of this episode was old men talking about succession politics.

Yep, that shit which happened like 30 years before nobunaga's own demise is what ultimately caused the oda clan to be taken over.
The nobunaga's succession disputes had taken almost all of the oda clan bloodkin to their untimely graves.
So, when nobunaga ascended to the top it was practically all the new people of "merit" which were actually ambition shits who tried to undermine others to get as much as possible to themselves.

Well nobody was a retard there. The whole province was living in fear of imminent imagawa invasion which was a long time enemy of the oda, and which got very powerful in the past decade prior to the nobunaga coming of age.
And Nobunaga was acting irrational towards the threat, while many of the more experienced members of his family were urging to submit owari province to imagawa.

Showing his scene like that I guess the anime made him one to me. I guess these kind of characters will never get a proper enough background and motivation, they seems to be made comical.
