She was added to the story to contrast from the original group in several ways such as how she was interested in music in a different way and how she couldnt break into the group or understand the other characters like yui and ritsu. as time goes on she begins to understand them more and becomes a full member of the original 4 characters, leading to the AMAZING finale in season 2 with the graduating girls singing tenshi ni fureta yo.
