Let's start a thread for all the early 2000s shows that don't get any more love on this board anymore.
I'll start with this one. Also take a moment to wish the studio behind Aria the Animation a good afterlife.

Their anime studio died?

I think they were bought out by another studio do they effectively are dead as a studio.

I’m waiting for season 5

Be happy you got that many of galaxy angel
Bamboo blade only had one season.

we got a thread just last week

The 00s was easily the best decade in anime.

20s are going to be the best decade when all the shows become 3d graphics. Like houseki no kuni

Attached: Phos.jpg (1920x1080, 891K)

Kill yourself.

2d fag can stay mad 3d is the future of anime embrace it or be left behind.

You read the manga, right user? It's a FMA situation with this one.
It's too bad nobody is working on Bamboo Blade B and C. I really enjoyed this series. The manga is unironically one of my favorite sports series.
And there was a waifu thread yesterday.

If you want to make a thread about something, have an actual discussion topic prepared. General threads this rarely generate meaningful responses.

>don't get any more love on this board anymore.

I know I really love manga about kendo. I've read most manga about this sport. It kinda sucks that sports like baseball overshadow the much more interesting sport of kendo in the manga world.
Thank you for constructive criticism I can't edit previous posts but I was just wanting to reminisce before going back to work after my summer off as a teacher.
>don't get any more love on this board anymore.
What are you implying here?

Attached: nhk.png (720x408, 670K)

No that's not the case. HAL Film Maker was merged with another studio under the same parent company. The combined studio operates as Yumeta Company. The company continued HAL Film Maker's works on Junichi Sato directed anime series Tamayura (which is in a sense a spiritual successor to Aria the Animation). Yumeta Company also produced Aria the Avvenire in 2015. The studio is currently producing Re:Stage! Dream Days and the new Digimon Adventure movie in 2020.

Well I'm glad they aren't dead but It seems they've lost a lot of their talent like studio gonzo.

this has been a great watch so far, really seeing the lupin influence. kanta is like lupin trading all of his personality for tits and greed. I definitely put off watching this for too long, I'm only about halfway through but it's a solid 7/10. I really thought it get sick of the titty jokes but they just got better and better

Attached: IMG_3190.jpg (546x924, 113K)

CG is not anime, fuck off to

I'm halfway through Princess Tutu (just finished ep13) and it's fucking amazing.

I hear It's good but It seems like it would be a little boring for the amount of episodes it has.

This show is fucking genius if you have two brain cells to rub together.

Attached: Twelve.Kingdoms.421931.jpg (422x640, 92K)

It looks like shoujo wish fulfillment.

It's not boring at all for me. The tension built up among the 4 key players in the first half gets intense really fast, and even the episodic "emotion of the week" aspect feels significant because the prince is permanently affected and developed by the changes each emotion brings to him, with the start of every episode continuing the consequences of the previous.

Sounds good might give it a watch if it has good animation to boot as well.

What? It's only 26.
The start of the second cour is pretty weak in my opinion because it's essentially the episodic parts of the first half but without the meaningful progression you mention.

I think it's 38 episodes; It just looked to be a little boring. If you guys say it's not then I suppose it isn't.

>an anime has wish fulfilment
Stop the fucking press. My wife, who likes shoujo and fujoshit, found this show boring. What kind of shoujo are you watching? It's not shoujo that's fucking dumb

It's 14 full length episodes and 24 half length, though the latter are just single episodes cut in two because they had to air it that way or something.

The directors do mostly shoujo and the set up with a cast of hunky guys doesn't help the perception
That's weird so they turned a two cour show into a 38 episode. I just thought it was some kind of weird OVA deal.

The 00’s was always going to be the most underrated decade, and we knew it at the time too. No easy western appeal with hypermasculine OVAs, cel animation for fans of that aesthetic, lots of Battle Harem schlock to shuffle through (which is fun on its own terms but is fucking brainless most of the time), early CG and digital coloration that looked awful, jank character designs, early net meme culture from Japan taking hold, the rise of moe which is still difficult for western audiences etc etc.

But what the 00’s had was a real sense of EXPERIMENTATION. Following the proliferation of digital tools and the wake of experimental successes after Evangelion, the (early especially) 00’s were full of so many out there interesting and ICONIC shows, which seems to have less prevalence today. Everything is a lot more marketable now.

As long as you can stand jank production values from all of the new blood and creatives getting used to the new tools available to them, the 00’s is a treasure trove to explore and kind of a fucking anomaly compared to every other point in anime.

Full Metal Panic? Fumoffu is still kyoto animation's single best anime. I believe it was early digital animation.

A lot of early 2000s digital coloring looks like complete ass but the ones that nailed it look amazing and have a certain aesthetic to it that is just kinda impossible to replicate in modern shows

My dude. Rakshun was the best character in that series.

I really don’t like the over reliance on post processing effects to replicate bloom, lensflares and depth of field in 10’s anime. Violet Evergarden being the worst offender. In the 00’s everything was clear and readible.

shout-out to my boy J.
criminally underrated series, I was lucky enough to stumble upon a volume on dvd since the torrent I had looks like dookie (and it still took 3 days to dl). the complete series is decently cheap on amazon to my surprise
must-watch for anyone who enjoys cop shows, it turns into something much more meaningful in the last couple arcs. daisuke and j make a damn fine pair

I loved a lot of 2000s anime, but so much of it was mastered at SD resolutions and likely those are the only copies existing it's near impossible to re-release them on blu-ray without looking like shit, unless some amazing upscaling tech comes along for animation.

The meme year

no its good. these are bringing back old memories. shows i need to revisit sometime.

Honestly I don’t really care if an anime is 480p. I still have a crt for 4:3 SD anime dvds.

Aw, Angelic Layer was my first "real" (i.e. not a shitty VHS rip from kazaaa) anime. Considering i was getting hot subs in 2003 kinda shows how far the fansubbing and now same day subs have come.

I do as well, but the post-2000's dvds are at the awkward impass of looking a little to flashy and hazy on crt's, but still looking mediocre on an hd.
maybe my crt was just shit, but karas, SAC, blood the last vampire, desert punk all looked pretty crappy.

Wasn't Index in Winter 2008? I might be blind but I don't see it on either image.

>aria doesn't get love on Yea Forums
is this bait or pasta i haven't seen

its not your tv, its just how those shows looked.

I have a BVM connected to a DVD player outputting component video because i’m a /vr/ autist, so that probably helps. Any CRT that takes Component should do the job, composite isn’t the full potential of a DVD and results in a lot of color bleed.

Attached: FCD93740-F68D-4572-8713-2CB49673983A.jpg (1260x1830, 1.58M)

Criminally underrated anime, even for Imagawa who's already underrated.
It's one of the most unique and intelligent (without being abstract or pretentious) mecha anime out there.

I remember the absolute shitstorms that Onegai Twins was causing on here - I still hold they were all related. There was a line at the end fucking saying in their mothers diary the day the photo was taken the other girl was asleep.

The shit i remember. fuck.

I’m just the messenger boy, but it doesn’t sound like Chartfag (RIP) to miss one.

Based originalfag. My late 2006 ass has to bow down to your oldfaggotry.

This should be every 00’s show.

Attached: 7C2BBE1C-13C7-40B1-B5DB-70167DAF0BF6.jpg (945x1150, 1.17M)

In the early 2000s it felt easier to keep up with all the shows being talked about, I guess the fact far fewer shows and fansubbers just doing the big shows of a season really helped.

Hah, well, Yea Forums is the only place on the internet that feels like home - reddit sucks, all the altchans are either full of people who are shittier/edgier or just half dead.

A few months off of 2000s, but close enough. I watched this show recently, the music was banging and it was really fun. I probably enjoyed it more than I should have, but oh well. My only annoyance is that the sick keyboard only version of the main song doesn't exist anywhere.

Attached: serveimage.jpg (1192x670, 41K)

Right there with you brother. Remember, you’re here forever.

Is dat sum Legend of Black Heaven? Great anime. I’m partial to Beck: Mongolian Chop Squad as well.

Attached: 114C3CB3-D601-42FB-A14F-ED151AE58D5C.jpg (640x960, 121K)

ayy, I liked Beck too. Been a long time since I watched it so I don't remember everything too well, but I'm getting around to a rewatch soon.

Anybody else have a soft spot for early 00’s schlock? Literally nothing else like it.

Tell me a good reason why you haven't watched this masterpiece of an anime.

Also new Mai Hime series when?

This went downhill towards the end, but this was ridiculously funny. I wish there was another anime that spent this fucking long building up to stupid jokes and puns.

Man, not enough people watched this weirdly serviceable show.

The 3D cg probably looks awful now, but I have super fond memories of it.

I just recently rediscovered my love for it, but nobody must know my secret.

there's something off about that show, it has that serious business/political stuff with trying to protect vampire civilians, but it makes me hate the vampire queen herself, she's shit

Fuck what anyone says, Crest/Banner of the starts is the last great space opera and top 3 all time.

I need to do a rewatch at some point.

It's in the awkward spot that it was serviceable enough to be good, but not amazing. Generally people remember the polarizing stuff - and this was just too average to make the mental cut.

Whenever it gets mentioned you'll see a chorus of 'oh yeah, that was a good time' but it doesn't get brought up a ton.

Shit thanks for reminding me to watch this. It's been on my list for ages and that blue haired space elf chick does it for me

Rumor has Sunrise is doing a special screening event with Mai Hime and others. There's a good chance they may announce a new projects for Banner of the Stars and Mai-franchise.

He's great but Youko steals the show. Rakshun is second best,... but Youko would be nothing without him so there is that.

Didn't the author finally release a new novel a couple years back? I hope we at a least get a new OVA.

What hunky guys? There are more women and children characters than any male characters.

marimite, new sesson when? I want them to animate alpha yumi so bad

Yes, but both series get an OVA project would be fitting. I love both series I hope they get more new projects down the road.

Heres a wild suggestion, watch Idolm@ster Xenoglossia, allegedly it was originally planned as a Mai- anime, but Bandai flashed some cash and they rebranded their existing project. Bonus points if you can guess which characters got swapped with which.

Well, i guess the soft inoffensive and fluffy Moe era kinda killed this kind of show. Though, it feels like the Moe era is waning.

This is still one of most memorable anime of all time.
