One of the first anime series I watched. I chose wisely even back then. Big names, good reviews, empty slow boring moe that was as fun as a business meeting.

I liked the manga, but the art in the anime was pretty sub-par most of the time. Though a lot of my appreciation for the anime could very well be nostalgia, as chobits was the very first non-battle-shonen series i ever got into.

I really disdain CLAMP. The whole "reset button is in her pussy!" thing was just doing Chii a disservice. I think you're reading too much into what is basically /the/ jap romance ending cliche, that is the romantic couple has to "break up" but be in a position where it's implied that eventually they'll be back together again.
The contrivance that surrounds the circumstances that enable that cliche is exactly that.

It's not a bad one at the end of the day though, it's all about true love overcoming life shattering tragedies without completely invalidating the tragedy and pretending it didn't happen, it's cynical but at the same time very romantic, if you want sugary happy ends CLAMP just aren't the place to get those, Chobits is a fucking seinen manga.

If I was in charge, the whole shit at the end which made all the robots gain emotions would have broken her reset button at the same time. It would have stayed true to the whole "love overcoming obstacles" theme, without completely fucking up Chii's future love life. But CLAMP did it that way on purpose, because they are sadists who can't possibly have anybody have a happy ending ever.

Okawa has always been the leader of the group, Mokona has been the main drawer for most of the output of the group while Nekoi and Igarashi where the second most prolific, most of the other CLAMP outside two or three people also pretty much disappeared after leaving the group.

The vast majority of the group's work has been done by these four, the notable only series that were done pre-schism were Duklyon, Rg Veda and Tokyo Babylon, which make up for an extremely small part of the overall production.
Fact is, these four grannies have been the actual CLAMP for the longest time, CCS, Chobits, Rayearth, Wish, Lawful Drugstore and whatever else, they were all done by them.
Pretending otherwise and saying that CLAMP "died" with the old break up is either being ignorant or deliberately fucking stupid.
