Why did Sakura Quest fail to be as fun as Shirabako?

Sakura Quest was better than Shirobako because the main cast was given breathing room to grow on-screen.

The best part about Shirobako was the lighting pace that never let up throughout the entire show. Sakura's show was still enjoyable for having an adult cast in the same way but by definition of its setting it had to slow things down. Though is right because they properly paced the entire cast's arcs instead of leaving half of them as background characters.

Everyone just saw it as a discount Shirobako. It's very hard to escape that kind of thing. People nowadays tend to be simple minded and just follow trends instead of forming their own opinions.

I liked Sakura Quest, but it was very boring.
Most PA Works shows have this problem.

I liked both, the "normalcy" of PA works shows just hits me perfectly. I'll be rewatching Bako during Christmas again, maybe ill actually rewatch Quest too.

The biggest problem was there was no overarching plot the same way Shirobako did with producing the anime. There were arcs, but they never seemed to provide any sort of development to the characters or the town. This was realistic, (you can't change a town in just one year with the issues it had,) but overall it wasn't good as a fictional story for me.

I really doubt they planned out this anime properly. It very much seems like they were making up shit as they go and so it was never very interesting or feeling important to the main plot. I don't even remember if they managed to achieved anything by the end.

They failed, but every time they did it still felt like they moved forward just a little bit, which I thought was nice.
