hundreds and hundreds of episodes, only about 50 of them are relevant. Probably one of the best anime ever created if non stop flash backs and filler were considered desirable traits. The animation studio does a good job employing 4 year olds for the drawing/animations of important fight scenes. If I were to rate it on a scale of 1 to 10, it's a solid "The Room"

He was forced to be more fleshed out with Tsunade due to her becoming the 5th Hokage and having to stand up against Orochimaru. Plus there was the fact that she was a doctor who wanted to minimize the casualties in ninjas and after both her boyfriend and brother got killed (No thanks to 1st Hokage's shitty necklace) she obtained a fear of blood.

Look at the other female characters in part 1 and TELL me if you can find anyone who is at that same level of fleshing out compared to Tsunade.

Hinata was just naruto-kun in pt 1, and to the point where she was literally a stalker. Still better than the doormat in pt 2

Naruto plagiarized Dragon Ball, One Piece, and Hunter x Hunter with the majority of its Part 1 plot, which explains why most of Part 1 was decent. Still, Naruto's plot was shit compared to the originals.

Part 2 was where Kishimoto was forced to do his own thing since DB ended, OP went with more worldbuilding plots over adventure ones, and HxH was on hiatus. It sucked complete ass, especially that horrendous war arc.

Anime-wise. First 135 Naruto episodes aren't that bad, aside from the dozen or so fillers that were somewhat okay since they did add to the plot from the canon. DO NOT watch the Naruto fillers after Naruto vs. Sasuke; they are complete shit. Most of them are missions with Naruto and some of the Genin from other teams that are extremely boring. Only noteworthy one is the mission with Raiga, who was canonicized as a member of the Seven Ninja Swordsman.

First 50 or so episodes of Shippuden were good because they focused on the canon, although they did drag out quite a bit. Then we have a shitty filler arc. Then we get into the next canon arc from 70-something to 88. Then another filler arc. Skip. Then the general rule is that we get a canon arc for about 10-20 episodes, and then an even longer filler arc. Note that the fillers in the latter half of Naruto Shippuden's run are much longer and shittier than the ones in the first half. The fillers after the Pain arc ends (175+) are complete shit. Coincidentally, everything after Pain is where the canon starts to suck too. The general trend of canon then filler then canon then filler continues, but each filler arc gets progressively shitter than the last. Then there's the war arc, which was a whole fuckton of filler sprirnkled into the canon. 90% of the actual war arc in the anime is filler, up until Madara's revival in 321. Then we get some dragged out episodes. More filler after that. Then canon. Then filler. Eventually you get to light novel material after 470, which is canon but shit.

what plotlines? the hyuuga clan was never actually a plotline, their family situation was written in to build neji and hinata's characters.

And it was the right decision. Kakashi was the best character in part 1, and you could always tell that he was shaped heavily by the events of his past. His part 2 interactions with the key players of the series are great. In Kakashi ANBU he has some good conversations with Itachi, then at the end when Itachi kills everyone Kakashi has a good line, something like "I guess knew nothing about him."

I dislike this about the original, but it makes for a interesting plot in Boruto as Naruto's son believes his father easily became the hokage just cause its in the family.
Makes for a nice change of focus from the originals "hard work = acknowledge" to "im going to wowk hard because you didnt have to"

Sakura was always better than Hinata, but she gets flak because she wasn't "nice" like Hinata despite having more personality and character with a better design on top of all that.
