I feel it would be really hard to incorporate them into the conspiracy story without feeling forced. What are Shinji and Asuka supposed to do against a secret government like SEELE anyway.

I am not really sure what more you could do with a character like Kaji, his backstory in the manga is nice I guess, but overall there isn't much to add to his character since he seems to have it all figured out already from the start.

She wasn't entirely reset. There was a reason she rebelled against Gendo after all. And you can't really kill her since her story wasn't close to done at that point. And having her lose part of her memories works to put Shinji in the mental state he needs to be for episode 24.

The lead scientist killing a small child than committing suicide isn't the best PR for any organisation. But there would have also been multiple deaths of scientist before because of all the Evas.

I guess it is unnecessary but it also adds to the world building showing that after an event like second impact the world has bonded together enough for UN to want something is something that could actually happen. As well as showing what NERV is willing to do to keep their monopoly.

Not only is this foreshadowing for the true identities of the Evas, but it also becomes relevant when Ritsuko fails to blow up NERV because of it.

The realistic elements and attitudes of those shows are what makes them so meaningful and human. You get the sense they were made by people with experience, or at least an intelligence of reality, rather than escapists. Fantastical shit is cool and fun but can very easily lose itself and clutter its underlying expression (assuming it has one).

Urasawa forced animators into copying his panels for a 1:1 adaptation instead of letting the staff express themselves and properly use the tools of the medium to create a unique product with its own artistic voice. Truly great adaptations are born from auteurs like Kubrick and Tarkovsky molding the source material to fit their specific vision instead of modestly adapting the source word for word.

This is just critiquing a product in relation to its source rather than something in itself. The staff didn't need to adapt it into something else. It's still compelling as it is. If it were an anime original you would not have this complaint.
