You certainly can't.

Why live?
What guides do you use?
Only the best, obviously.
This is all I amount to
That pic was taken from the internet,
the best i can do is pic related.
In any case, I don’t think many people on Yea Forums can draw well.

DRAWING TABLET WORTH MORE THAN MY ENTIRE PC
HOURS OF PRACTICE THIS YEAR: 0 HOUR
I can't believe I fell for the meme and bought this at the book-fair as a kid
I wish I could
Show off!
This is already better than anything that I might try to draw
Someone teach me how to draw arms and hand already...
yes :^)
Ifag here, a combo between the Ipad 2018 and Apple pencil can cost maximum 420$ (400€) worth every dollar and shits on every Wacom Cintiq ever made to this day.
I drew pic related but I can’t post whole version because reasons.
Keep on practicing,you have potential
Nice
I can't even do straight line, even with stabilizer on it's still looks like crap
meow
Kind of. I am eternally at the level where I possess the detailing abilities but none of the dynamics for the drawing to feel special
It just needs one step, which is why I focus on editing to learn bodies. Unsurprisingly, as I usually deal with female bodies I am intimately aware and capable of making a female
film editing or photoshop editing?
because studying cinematography and focal depth can help you understand perspective a lot better.
drawabox.com
it's possible draw something but it's impossible for non japanese to draw anime.
>Can you draw Yea Forums?
I tried my best.
>it's impossible for non japanese to draw anime
Nobody tell Korea that.
get an ipad
Haven't drawn much lately other than stuff like pic related
already have this, and the thing I do with that was only making jahy white.
Pesci Nico
sick spanish pedo.
Damn son, that's good.
Kinda, but the amount of time it took me to get just to this level is shameful
I am eternally at the level where I possess a nice art style and nothing else. Keep doing your best user, you're doing much better than lots of people.
You don’t seem to have sketched that before.
The thing that helped me the most with drawing is making the sketch first and then drawing over it.
For example: if you are doing a complex pose you should draw a sketched stickman first before inking. I see many people that if they want to draw a complex pose they start immediately with ink and then fail miserably.
Yes
Sure but it take months to draw one for me.
how do you draw straight line
If it not organic, use ruler.
If it is, zoom out and use your shoulder.
I'm playing with the idea of creating a comic or something, inspired by stuff like bebop, eva, ghost in the shell, akira, etc
Not really, but I can copy whatever I see
barely. i would be a lot better if i didn't spend 2 years doodling and never finishing anything. fear of failure is a dangerous thing.
god that´s awful
Please no bully.
I do
Neat
Lineart and basic rendering is kind of a tricky thing in pencil
>you have potential
liar
everyone does
bullshit
soul
soulless
I think your cat has autism
>pick up drawing
>start college some time afterwards
>can't practice because I have to study
>start improving during summer vacations
>then go back to whatever I was before because I can't draw everyday
What am I doing? I don't even like compsci.
>but I can copy whatever I see
That's a great skill to have.
I'm really struggling to come up with "my own style" .
my biggest fear is my work ending up like what you'd find on the "western" tag
I "can draw" in that sometimes I'm sorta okay with the result.
Draw a little bit each day when you can, even if it's doodling in the margins for a couple of minutes. Every little bit helps.
>dude weed lmao
A man of taste, I see
get good first
no
cute
I've been improving a bit lately
Hey, that's pretty good
get better pencils, you need different values.
no
did you have any other questions
Is that supposed to be the girl from [C]?
soul
soulless
cute
Thought so, now you gotta draw the other girl from [C]
How do I draw shoulders, they always feel off to me.
is it because I watch too many SOL with fucked proportion
yeah
your twitter/tumblr links are broken on your pixiv
>implying that's actually the artist posting
ok.
Thanks user!
if it really is them, they should post a pic of the cute gundam model they recently bought.
I wish
If you become very good at drawing and stop for 1 year or 2, are you back at being bad?
Depends on how much you study in the meantime. Even if you aren't putting pencil to paper, reading and thinking and study will affect your skill level.
I took a long break from actually drawing, but kept reading and studying, and actually came out better once I took up drawing again.
at most your first couple of drawings will feel a bit stiff.
it's not really a skill that can regress.
This is about right. You can get rusty and forget some of the finer techniques, but once you learn how to work and really see your subjects, and have a strong visual library, that's harder to lose.
I see, so if you know the "theory" behind drawing you'll feel rusty at most even if you stop for years.
Hey thanks m8
It's like riding a bike, user, you never forget.
A lot of drawing is about how you see an object as it is, instead of how you think it should be - e.g. observing and trying to draw all four legs of a chair, when you can only see three from your angle. That's not something you can really unlearn, to my knowledge.
I think that's the case for observation drawing, but not so much for original art. Anyway, I agree that you can lose practice, but never unlearn how to draw.
Welp, I didnt sketch that before since I drew it in a whiteboard but you are right, I rarely use lines to measure perspective and proportions
That example was about observation drawing, yeah, but the overall principle applies to drawing from imagination too. It's about seeing objects in three dimensions as they are, and not as your mind categorizes them into a sort of "symbol." The latter is just putting the components together that you know are there, regardless of whether or not they should all be rendered. When drawing from imagination, you're breaking it down into simpler shapes, and you still have to know how those shapes would look at certain angles in real life.
You really can't draw well from imagination without studying real life. You need to learn the rules before you can effectively bend them.
No,im stuck at doing line art and fucking up the shading and color
Hey me, stop procrastinating and start learning how to color already.
If you already have a story in mind, I highly recommend trying it.
When I switched from writing a novel to visual storytelling, it was a whole new experience. Only downside is the slower story progression.
practice drawing portraits. it'll help get down proportions right and have a more keen eye for where facial structures should and shouldn't be.
it'd be funny if this guy draws a new portrait that looks really well drawn and then the right portrait and the new drawing are shown by side in a soul vs soulless argument
like this
I played "who's that pokemon" with my nephew today. He guessed all of them correctly, some after a split second. Stupid nerds. Pokemon is anime.
These turned out better
Never give up.
Sorry this took so long, didn't really feel like drawing and I nearly gave up on this one multiple times
Sometimes
when the moon is up and my dick is down
That's a lot of symbol drawing, user.
You should try to read Keys to Drawing and use references for your stuff.
I realized that aswell, It can really accelerate your progression.
Problem for me is that I don't enjoy redrawing stuff 90% of the time.
I knew that one was coming. I'm on it.
looks neat, get better lightning though
Wholesome and cute
looks like rika nipah
I usually never draw but I enjoyed making this one. It's a silly smiley face beating the shit out of some dude while dislocating his jaw, above it a stickfigure getting hit in the face by a rock, and the punching lines can also be interpreted as an eagle doing a peace sign.
Fuck, didnt mean to quote
Have some deep commentary about western exploitation of Africans
And some random sketches
ganbatted my best and stole a background
you guys really need to buy scanners
cheap scanner printer combos come at like, less than 100 dollars these days
back in my day consumer grade scanners were always in multiples of 100s and the cheap ones were crappy handheld ones that would distort if you didn't have proper alignment tools
This thread made me take a break from drawing by doing more drawing. Fuck you guys my hand hurts
yeah that sounds really convenient.
too bad i'm a poorfag thirld worlder and hardware prices are beyond inflated here
Find better lighting, sunlight if you can.
i'll try
its osaka! :3
I've been practicing and all but I feel like coloring images has always been a brick wall and plateau combo for me.
I feel like Krita has a billion tools I can use to make things easier but I don't know how to use them correctly.
Pic related is a comparison from early 2017 with mid 2018. I'm kind of shocked right now that this is the most well drawn face of my mc to this day.
I'll give it a shot, haven't used any literature yet.
Kind of
Why yes, how could you tell?
Yikes.
No, but I'm really good at drawing unfunny comics and shit doodles at the corner of notes.
I started learning just over a week ago. It's been since I was a kid (now 29).
I drew this from reference yesterday. Proportions and perspective are a bitch so far.
no i suck
Nice flex,fag
Thanks, fag.
It's not a flex when you're just copying another drawing.
Yeah. Drawing from reference is cheating, I'm finding.
it is when you're that one guy from the drawfag threads who used to trace all the time
That's not the same as drawing from reference. References are good to use, copying someone else's work is not.
>flexing that you're bad at drawing
I don't understand
Dude i'm just learning. I'm using something as a reference so it's drawing from reference, regardless of whether I'm more or less copying.
Back in college I wanted to learn to draw so I could draw porn. I was paranoid someone would find out or see me trying to draw porn and never got anywhere with it. Oh well, since I'm not japanese or korean it probably wouldn't have been any good anyways.
It's kind of a shit way to learn. You're just copying someone else's stylizations without learning the thought process behind the artist's choices.
Go to drawabox or something
Copying work that you admire is an important part of the learning process. It lets you focus on learning the mechanics of drawing and also helps you understand how good art works, without throwing in the added complications of having to design your own pieces when you don't even know how to control your pencil yet.
"Copying" someone in the sense of actually taking someone's work and claiming it's your own is obviously dumb.
I don't know why people would have trouble with this distinction.
Everybody draws from reference it's not like artists just magically know how every position a limb can bend or how every piece of clothing creases or how every object looks from every angle. If you've never drawn before then copying other's work or hell even tracing it can help give you an idea of how to construct form from nothing.
Besides as long as you know that it's all for practice and you're not trying to pass off traced or copied art as your own who fucking cares. It's all about getting better
Reminder NEVER take random advice from Yea Forums. You should probably actively do the opposite.
Copying it line-for-line isn't the same and I don't buy your claim that it's a great way to learn, since, again, you're copying someone else's stylistic decisions instead of learning the fundamentals and then making your own.
Using reference for gesture is fine, theres no other way to learn it really until you can draw gesture from the mind
Don't give people shit advice that's going to hinder them.
I have no idea how you're supposed to learn how to draw without copying (not tracing) existing works. You know that museums were originally invented as places to gather lots of paintings together so artists could go study and copy them right?
I guarantee you every anime/manga artist you admire got their start as a kid copying manga that they liked.
>copying a super stylized ecchi picture is the same as a master study
That's one hell of a reach, jesus christ. I'm telling user to learn the actual fundamentals of drawing, that's not bad advice unless you're a retard.
He can do both.
You welcome,fag.
Hopefully he won't be as defensive about learning a different way as you seem to be.
I'm sure it isn't the best way to learn. It does feel like I'm getting to grips with some basic technique though.
Seems more like monkey see monkey do than using creative energy if you ask me!
As long as you don't stick with it too long, copying without learning fundamentals can give you bad drawing habits down the road. Good luck.
Yeah a bit
I drew doraemon. Bask in awe of my artistic might.
No, I wish I could draw so that I could make games all by myself
>why are you trying to learn game programming by making a Tetris clone? Why aren't you being creative and making the next LoL/Fortnite yet?
>why are you trying to learn guitar by learning Stairway to Heaven? Why aren't you touring and performing your own songs yet?
This is how you all sound right now.
Referencing real life or master artists is a good way to learn. Copying someone's mediocre bikini drawing is not.
Do you have any more tips?
Go learn from people who know what the fuck they're doing
There you go
Latest drawing I did on a whim.
I think it's a skill I can develop well but everytime I attempt drawing hands or poses I feel stumped and want to die for being so terrible.
Post your art
How tf do you draw fire and feet
That is some star butterfly shit tight there
Last one. My favorite drawing I made myself. She wound up looking like a ghost wich is pretty neat.
Post your songs
No. I used to draw a long time ago but I wasn't improving in years so I dropped it. Wish I could though.
It's meant to be the girl from the DMC anime
I have a robotic implant in my brain that lets me preform 12,000,000,000,000,000 calculations per second. I could rewrite the entire game's code, while helping Penny with her homework, and cleaning up brain's doody, all at the same time! You're a nerd, and I hate nerds more than I hate MAD agents. What an asshole!
Don't worry, it's pretty normal to feel bad when you start doing something you don't know.
Have a bad drawing on me senpai.
Same with writing, you feel so much cringe you want to die too
Cute
No, even my handwriting is sloppy
literally just learn gesture, thats all you need to know. Anime proportions can be learned in 5 seconds but gesture is the most important thing in drawing figures
I can only draw my waifu.
i love the fish expression
Absolutely not
>DMC anime
I don't remember anything about it,she looks cute
I hate it
ye
maybe not
>autosage
but why
Pretty good.
Very nice, my latest sketch was also of Mokou
based mokouchads
I'm getting spacejin's vibes.
Ye
Stupid question but the best way to replicate a specific artist's style is to straight up copy and trace right?
user I have been down this path too many times, trying to aid ngmi's is a lost cause.
Try copying some of his works to get a hang of his style, but don't trace.
if you are not understandig whats behind all these lines you are tracing it has 0 value
>copy
yes
>trace
no
if you actually can draw in the first place copying is easy, just look at the original and redraw it in whatever scene you want
What is happening in this picture?
no
Cute
Thanks. I can try to copy as best as I can.
I'm being honest here, I do not have an idea of what is happening behind the lines. I've recently downloaded a some guidelines on /ic/ and I hope that can help.
If you don't know anything then you should work on your fundamentals rather than trying to develop a style.
>someone is ngmi because they copy works that they like and want to understand better
Fuck you you fucking piece of shit, this is fucking personal, I'm not just mad that you called me an ngmi, I'm mad that you're perpetuating retarded myths that will actually hurt people and prevent them from developing as artists because you have some idiotic notion of "the right way things need to be done". Copying has been part of art training for hundreds of years. Re-implementing existing works is part of the training for any complex skill. Engineers, computer programmers, artists, it's all the same, you start by doing what those who came before you have already done, and eventually you build up to creating your own original work. Have you EVER learned ANY complex skill in your life? Are you actually good at anything? Or are you just pulling shit out of your ass?
I'm already tracer
I have to say that copying doesn't seem to work at all for me, what I prefer is to look at a lot of reference material and ask "what are the distinct characteristics, what are some motifs this person uses" etc and fold that into other drawings in various ways as best I can. If the style isn't idiosyncratic enough this probably won't work, but if they aren't I'm not entirely sure why you're trying to emulate them in the first place.
Yes, but I don't draw anime. I only draw portraits of my friends sleeping.
And I know what you are thinking. It's not a fetish.
You aren't going to understand what is going on that fundamentally makes a work "work" just by copying it, sorry, no magic get gud solution. If you're grinding fundies then it doesn't apply to you.
Got it. Thanks.
kinda.
>I only draw portraits of my friends sleeping.
>It's not a fetish
these arent horrifying but bad enough to still be really terrible even disregarding the subject matter
>I only draw portraits of my friends sleeping.
Do they know you do this? Also, post them.
>It's not a fetish
For what purpose then
Only in shit quality.
Do or do not, there is no try. You are either an artist or not.
>Do they know you do this?
I don't think so. One of them knows I have a collection of pictures of them sleeping that I use for references tho
Use mediabang instead. It's less overwhelming for new artists.
No.
You may develop good artstyle and become a master at rendering, but your lack of understanding of fundamentals will undermine everything. Just to give you a concrete example, look at this, beautiful rendering, but the anatomy is all over the place, super long tits in the wrong place and the t-rex arm.
>only draw portraits of my friends sleeping
>collection of pictures of them sleeping
>"not a fetish"
Maybe but that art is aimed for the normie taste and they don't give a fuck about anatomy as long as it looks "nice"
Ok I guess we're just gonna talk past each other. Or you're just gonna misunderstand me and attribute absurd views to me that I don't hold.
Obviously I don't think you should turn your brain off while copying and not analyze what's going on. I don't know why that's such a common rejoinder to any kind of art advice. "Hurr durr that won't work if you don't THINK while you're doing it." Of course you should fucking think while you're doing it, did I ever say otherwise?
The idea that I believe in a "magic git gud" solution to art is absurd. Copying art well is hard as shit, it's the furthest thing from a magic solution there is.
Lol, you're in for a treat if you think that's cheating. Just look at what professional mangaka do.

for all the anons who want to draw, here's a couple of books
Sadly, you're right, and it makes me wonder why the fuck am I spending so much time trying to learn proper anatomy.
Read what you've been saying, just saying "copy stuff" doesn't fucking mean anything. To random people that sounds like "oh so I just go on pixiv and grab something and draw it and now I can draw?"
No shit copying is hard, but to tell beginners to not learn the rules they need to pull apart finished work and tell if it's even worth copying in the first place hurts them far more than telling them to fuck off with that shit to start with, by the time they realize why they were told that its piss easy to go back and pick up an anime artstyle anyway.
hello /ic/, what are you doing on Yea Forums? And yes i can but i don't do it enough
I just started drawing on a tablet.
I suck at it and feel like I will never get better...
Fuck off carlos
Drew this for /d/ years ago.
I've regressed since.
I fell for it ages ago then decided to just practice drawing what I want and referencing anatomy books when I need to.
I've been learning slowly but somewhat steadily.
Oh the twitter one is broken? as for Tumblr i don't use it anymore
Woah how the fuck did you know i into gunpla?
i'd fall for the ones bottom left and bottom middle, they looks legit 80s style stuff
I drew onizuka squatting but made it so it was makoto from street fighter, sorta
Don't feel bad, the japs have some "How to draw" in varying qualities too.
animebooks.com
I bought them around 20 years ago so the art style does match the time.
looks like an early concept of a baki character.
They overdid the muscles on some drawings to make it easier for the reader to understand their placement.
Yeah I think so
Joker from Fire Force wearing a cap that says "dumb homo" on it with a smug look on his face
Are you retarded? Maybe illiterate?
look at this faggot
hi misha
kek
Sorry I only draw pregnant lolis
>suck at it and feel like I will never get better...
Don't fall in despair user. I remember when I got my tablet, I felt like shit because I thought it would improve my skills and be easier than traditional but it was the complete opposite.
Just keep drawing, you will get used to it eventually.
pretty good
based
Sortaish
I'd post something but it's all so meh
Do it anyways, I promise I won't laugh.
i was half expecting to see more flexers show up in this thread
All the good drawfags left this place ages ago.
wouldn't be surprised
The way you render the clothing and her body is a lot better than the face, work on that and you're gold
Ok here's an angst teen
She looks like she'll make a really important call.
Good job on the colouring and tones, it's quite nice.
I wish
Hey Milk!
this is my OC please do not steal her
Here, done.
I see why Araki drew muscle men first before creating his own artstyle.
They're really fun to draw.
Get back to work drawfags. Those waifus aren't going to draw them selves!
I drew this. Gimme more followers, Yea Forums!
yes they are
This isn’t done
Did you use MyPaint?
all this autism is hurting me. everyone here is as unable as me to acknowledge how bad they are
literally 99% of the thread is doing exactly that tho
No I used my iPad. Is it that bad?
Nobody here claimed to be good, maybe I missed something
No I just thought it was the default brush, but admittedly it's been a while since I've used it. I'm disappointing at you for using an iPad though.
Your art is cute.
What's wrong with an iPad? Nice drawing experience and I can shitpost in bed
I mean disappointed. Also I think the ear needs a darker line.
It's proprietary Apple garbage.
Ask /g/ if you don't understand.
WHAT APP YOU USE! IS IT FREE.
I use Procreate. It's not free but you can pirate it or download it with your friend's account or something.
Thanks! I'm really not happy with her face and her hair, better start drawing more portraits.
a lot of people on this board wish they could use procreate
I bought a tablet on Prime Day and it arrived the day the KyoAni fire happened. My drawing skills are grade school at best but I feel compelled to improve now more than ever
Got a cheap wacom in feb and I've been practicing
can't draw from my imagination for shit can copy pretty well tho
Knock off chinese tablets are better than the lower end wacom.
If you want to go wacom you go high end.
1 minute spent on this
I just quick sketches here and there
Fetishchads rise up
a randy vampire
I bought an iPad but I still don’t understand how to finish anything like the really good artists. I just get depressed and stop drawing for months.
I also delete everything so this is all I have to post
>he fell for the ipad meme
Yeah
Not really, but I enjoy it and have been wanting to get around to do it more.
I started a month or so ago. I've mostly kept to my commitment of drawing something everyday but I've gotten a recent urge to practice more.
No,just enjoy doing doodles
Just random doodles that even a kid could do better than.
I'm shit but I'm not focusing on anime drawings right now, just the basics. This is what little anime I can draw with the Loomis lessons I've taken in just these two weeks since I picked the pencil.
>inb4 ruled paper
All I can afford right now
>Loomis
user NO!
im not kidding this is literally middle school tier because of the paper
you can get 500 sheets of printer paper for $4
I wish I could draw well.
Maybe in 5 years I could make something that doesn't look like dog shit.
Most of the time I make doodles and never get further because I see that it is shit and give up.
I don't get it. Will a different kind of paper make my art look better? It's not like I'm making a proper drawing I intended to look good, the paper is just to make the ten thousand sketches required to start getting somewhere.
You're good enough to start drawing porn comissions
nipah~
does anybody have that collection from that one user who drew yuno every day for years?
cute
Anyone is good enough for porn commissions.
That reminds me, did he post them last year?
absolutely. all those dark lines you can't change are going to dramatically affect the way you draw whether it's conscious or not.
tell me what anime to draw
msyu
I think I could maybe make some sort of webmanga like this, just stitching images together as a gif to produce fake animation.
It's too much work, and I actually won't do it, but the option is there.
Nope, drawing just wasn't meant to be one of my skills. That's why I pay other people to draw for me.
musashi gundoh
TTGL
user... FOR SHAME
>this art
pfhahahahahaha
does she need a new diaper cuz i know just the man to call hahahahahahaha
Sequel when? I hope they have more budget.
just buy a simple wacom until you learn.
then you can go for screens.
if you go for any Ishit you will be limited in hardware and software if you don't know what you're doing.
miki-chan is trash.
purplehairnoodlelegs-chan should be the main girl.
yes
I like to take photos and draw anime girls into them sometimes. please crit
bad at crit but just wanted to say very cute!
this. stop trying to find your own "style" and get better so you know what your own "style" actually is. had to learn this the hard way playing music and i see too many artists fall into this pit
Speaking from an amateurs point of view, some of the art in this thread looks professional. Are any of you pursuing it as a career?
>My mom threw all of my drawing away after I left for college
I want to get back to drawing again but my enthusiasm always dissapears after thinking I have to study anatomy to get good
Who are these people?
Certainly not my crappy drawings.
Pretty good
Just finished this like an hour ago.
I could've tried to do shading and draw with proper anatomy, but I was too lazy to. I'm glad I did skip out on doing that, considering the absurd amount of time drawing this alone took.
Can't draw for shit but I'm unironically trying to get a scholarship to study in an manga school in Japan next year. It would be cool if I get it because I'd be wasting 3 years of my life doing something I could learn on my own.
Why are her eyes crossed
You will probably end up committing sudoku due to the stressful life in Japan.
I-I didn't even notice that...
From what everyone has told me (including my jap teacher that won the same scholarship I'm applying to) it's only that bad if you are going there to work or study some really harsh career. When you go there as a full time student things are pretty manageable if you are responsible enough.
Just like every Dragonball character.
Don't let it get you down, you'll be able to see those mistakes and correct them with practice. Try making studies of eyes, mouth, entire faces, etc. Basically learn each part of the body one by one well enough and you'll be Gucci.
Ironically, being a JSDF soldier is less stressful than being a white-collar worker in Japan, isn't it?
This one looks like it could be cleaned up/colored and it could be used as a character portrait in a game.
This looks like something you'd find in a MGS concept art book. For a quick sketch it's very good.
This has insanely clean lines and for only a few months looks quite close to being there.
This one is very cute. Nothing I can see wrong with it. I could see doing quite well on commissions. as well as this This guy as well
I could see being in as Steins Gate pixel art game, if there was one.
is fantastic, as is has an eye for cuteness.
is being too hard on themselves. I'd like to see their finished work.
>youtube.com
Being a white collar worker in Japan in hell, I would end myself
make her colors a bit less bright and maybe a bit "blue-er" to fit the color palette of the rest of the image
I got good enough for fetish art commissions for coffee money and just kinda flatlined there for a while. I could probably put in more effort and I'd finally finish stuff like files.catbox.moe
Neat, I'm saving it and using it as inspiration.
That's actually great, user.
Remember that perfect is the enemy of good.
It becomes faster as times goes on and you practice more, but don't skip those fundamental steps and practice anatomy too.
Remember, we're all gonna make it bros.
Started 1 month ago and draw this in 2 hours.
How far am I going ?
9th circle footfag
Shapes/lines are bit wonky, but it's a difficult perspective to draw. The feet are the best drawn thing in that image.
1 month is nothing. Keep at it.
No matter how hard I try to figure it out I can't figure out what the context of this image would be
Nice last order though, you should finish it
Thanks!
Of course im going to finish. I have a lot of motivation.
Would've finished inking if my clumsy ass hands didn't spill my entire ink.
Did this for the last Yea Forums
so maybe?
Based Yea Forums draws Soramimi Cake poster. I recognize a couple of the artists in this thread.
>he doesn't make his own season 2's when he doesn't get them
I'd say so but I'm a rendermonkey and I take a week to finish a single picture.
Enjoy hell you monster
Really enjoy the look of it though, good job user-kun
Dude, that's cool. When can I expect season 2?
Why would you subject me to the knowledge that such an image exists
My best is mediocre, and I draw very slowly.
Not enough
i drew this in paint once following a guide somebody posted
P-post the full image somewhere... haha.
I can't. Both of my parents are artists and actively discouraged me from learning even though they also told me I will probably get good so that I don't end up poor like them. Nowadays I want to learn, but I'm not sure if I can. Thanks for reading this shit blog.
hey, I also drawn for soramimi cake.
Mines were shit tho
>I use Procreate
Abe approved post
I love it so it again
I'd download that app/ buy that shitcoin
Good taste
how to hand
Yeah but I always just end up liking my shit 5 min drawings way more than anything I put real time and energy into
Sometimes I consume alcohol and draw garbage with my mouse.
a bit
Cute leaf!
I wonder if alcohol is a net positive, or negative to drawing skill.
Mommy
What's the secret to getting smooth lines? Do you just do a rough version and then trace over the lines?
>Maybe in 5 years I could make something that doesn't look like dog shit.
user i have bad news for you....
The truth is you will always hate your works no matter how many years
Practices, smooth lines come from confident and Ctrl-Z
What you describe is just from sketch to line art.
Literally years of practice, glhf
Practice, try and practice longer lines and hand control without relying on retracing over the same lines multiple times.
How do you shade hair like this? I can never get it right.
The queen?
I dont consider myself to be able to draw but eventually i will!
That reminds me of a guy who posted this, saying it was a WIP and then never posted the finished version.
If you're using a tablet, the glass can really fuck your lines up. You can get instant traction/texture by changing to felt nibs. Even then though I have to change my drawing style to anchor my hand down onto the surface to get more control. If it's paper, then practice lines only, first trying to get the kind of line you have in your head/want to draw, and then second imagining what kind of line would form an edge/form of the object you want to draw, and do that a million times on a sheet of paper until it looks like a schizo drew it
No half decent actual drawing tablet uses glass you itoddler
Cintiq pro is etched glass retard, if you want to get close to paper even that won't be anywhere close without making adjustments
I tried, but it looks as if it came straight from deviantart.
I'll admit I'm wrong here but etched glass is different from normal glass you schmuck. One of wacom's key things in their higher end tablets is mimicking the friction of pencil on paper. I'm literally sitting in front of an older cintiq right now and I can 100% tell you that the screen surface is not a normal smooth sheet, there's friction on it and it's specifically engineered to mimick the feeling of paper.
Damn, no wonder Eren is always on top of him, those are some fertile hips.
Your shading, colors, and style are fantastic.
Your lines and anatomy need a lot of work. A lot.
wips? Also do you guys draw stuff of your favorite anime or others. do you draw your waifu
Yeah well I'm sitting in front of mine too. They're engineered to, but no way is it the same as paper. They make accessories like toothy screen protectors because it's far from perfect. Plastic nibs on glass is like being on a slip n slide compared to the feeling of traction you get from actually laying down graphite onto paper. Mileage varies with art style, maybe broader strokes work better, lines that curve and make sharp turns have greater difficulty in making the transition I've found.
Reminder that practice makes perfect
I'm not exactly a master or a pro or anything and I too need a lot of practice still. But from my experience is to just do it. But for starters try “connecting” the lines in shorter strokes but try not to lift the pen/pencil too much. My tip is to move your hand as if you're using a brush. I noticed that mangakas moved their g-pen as if they're writing japanese letters. But practice is the integral part. It's more about training your eyes and your muscle memory. Oh and by the way, this is for ink/pencil and paper. I never use digital.
Not sure I agree on anatomy. Lines maybe, but for his style I think he nailed it down more or less. Then again its hard to judge one's mastery of anatomy on a single piece of art
No. Spent years studying Vilppu and his associates, primarily. After a while, it became apparent that I just wouldn't cut it in the commercial art industry. It was a very dark period in my life. Now, many years later, I cant even pick up a pencil without immediately losing all strength in my arm and immediately putting it back down. I think I have a severe, psychological block.
11/10 post
Apologize for posting twice in the thread, but I also did a section for that.
The fear of inevitable failure in a field as highly contested and competitive as comics, animation and the like (not even beginning to mention the "art" industry) is something I think most of us here have already lost to. I'm 22 so I don't if I'm in the NGMI category already, but I guess you need to look at it more as a hobby and a passtime rather than a career.
Looks like you're on the way to becoming ishikei.
but then again, nobody's perfect. So why practice?
user I'm sorry to say, but you can already draw.
A little
You know you can get different textured screen protectors for iPad, right?
I wanted to draw a story that's kind of super robot wars cross with nanoha.
I can't into anime
>colorful, re-invigorating art of elaborate robots
>fond childhood memories of playing Bionicles with my dad
Stop. I'm fucking crying.
But yeah, refine the lineart a bit and you're totally in the right direction. Probably find the balance between time consumption and art quality.
not really
/i/ try
I like to think so
user, do you have a foot fetish? you draw feet like a foot fetish guy
goddammit
meant for
Alright, I’m gonna try again. But I miss that short period of time when Yea Forums actually had those drawing practice threads with the sketchbook tripfag
...
Buy a Xp-pen Deco for $50
And even then, they seem to have a better grasp of anatomy than most.
Sugoi
when I am bored
Consider the following: the longer you take to start studying anatomy, the less you're learning it. You need a bit of discipline but trust me, it will do you good and make things easier for you.
I'm no good but I'll do my best!
>after thinking I have to study anatomy
You can get away with just knowing the big, surface muscles and groupings. Learn Pecs, Abs, Lats, Deltoids, Traps, Biceps, Triceps, Sternocleidomastoideus, Masseter, Gastrocnemius and Soleus individually, and Glutes as a single shape, Quads as a single shape, Brachioradialis/Extensor Carpi Radialis longus, as a single shape, and the rest of the extensor compartment as a single shape . That's all of the depth of knowledge you would really need to draw convincing musculature, assuming you know how to draw in the first place, which is a different skill altogether.
hire these men, kyoani
No, I can tell you want to use that power for evil
Cylinders and boxes. Just look at Bridgman's constructive anatomy.
I'm not longer drawin, cause all i did seemd like a crap to me. But i really wanted to be mangaka in the past. Sorry for bad quality, i have a shitty camera
I managed to come up with this autistic shit 2 years ago. Haven't touched a pen since then
Shut the fuck up, retards - your art is in a very good direction.
If you ever feel your work is "good enough" - you're doing it wrong. An author must be eternally self-aware and critical of himself, unless you seek imminent stagnation. Sure, it damns you to a process of self-deprecation no sane person would wish to go through, but such is the way of progress.
I should practice more, I still can't do hands and I can't draw girls at all.
I tried to draw rei from memory.
I really only draw eva stuff now that i think about it.
That's a really cute artstyle.
yeah im currently working on a comic/ manga
I love it!
If all else fails try camscanner if you have an android phone, it's pretty gud
i agree, with some practice you will be amazing
KYOANI
HIRE
THIS
MAN
this is good, you draw at least well
no, I just half draw and never complete anything
Impressive, you nailed down the style
This is great. Post more.
Either your a reddit faggot or stealing a reddit faggots work, neither are good user
I like this alot.
Why the heck would I want to draw Yea Forums?
I can't stop seeing her with a huge ass chin
Based
That's one of the cutest draws of her
>The absolute state of this thread
WORK ON YOUR FUNDIES
i'm trying to work on my funds but noone will donate to my patreon
Spent the afternoon on this. This time I drew without a reference. It started off as just a set of eyes.
pretty big yikes
I did finish it user. here, I just been grinding away alone. I still do pixel art but not as often anymore. I've been trying to get better at rendering illustrations.
Oh shit, I didn't expect that. Thanks.
you are welcome, if you want to see more pixels lemme know. happy to share.
here's my attempt OP, you be the judge
What the fuck are you doing with your money and your life?
Jesus, Mary and Joseph...
I have both the cintiq and the Ipad. I call BS. the rendering on the lineart looks too low res to be Ipad, by default Ipads render at high res because of its native resolution.
unless... you either decided get something that is NOT Procreate (which is the software of choice) and if you did that, well---what are hell are you doing.
How many hours one drawing takes for you? I feel like i should work on my speed.
I started a while ago just so i could draw my wife. Still a lot of work to do (look at that fucking hand), but i just can't keep doing it as i used to because my tablet got fucked up, so now i only draw here and there on paper but nothing else.
I think i should at least pick up fundies again, but if i'm not going to go digitial ever again then it's kind of pointless i guess, i mean i have a work and some more stuff to do.
8760 hours
Depends on the drawing:
Fully colored full-body shots of character on a white background take about 2 hours
Rendered backgrounds + multiple characters can take me an upward of 5-6 hours
I can draw good enough to not want to kill myself whenever i look at my drawings
>The thing that helped me the most with drawing is making the sketch first and then drawing over it.
This is not some secret drawing technique
Using references is not bad
Tracing is
that is only something you can answer user. just get in your desk and draw that's it. pace is pretty relative, just keep drawing. things will click eventually if you truly want to draw you will get better, if not you will quit it.
>Rendered backgrounds + multiple characters can take me an upward of 5-6 hours
Does eating drawfags' hearts help me get good? Asking for a friend.
time doesn't mean anything, it depends from person to person.
Is this the true power of /asg/?
Was, right now its power lies on drama.
>Fully colored full-body shots 2 hours
Can you post an example? For me it is 2+ hours for a simple lineart.
meant for
keep working user, it's never pointless to do something for your waifu!
I had tried out for the Yea Forums Virtual Youtuber contest but I submitted it slightly late so it was never submitted. so here.
5-6 hours was more of an extremely generous estimate because I usually don't find myself doing detailed backgrounds and characters unless I'm working on a commission/present. "Rendered" probably isn't the right word, since most of my backgrounds are more cartoonish in style and also because the characters are the main focus. I still have trouble drawing backgrounds.
I think this one took me about 3~ hours. Coloring goes a lot faster for me.
Whatever happened to the Virtual Youtuber contest?
he probably tried to sell the design but couldn't find any buyer.
Looks like a cute squid.
Speaking of drawing whatever happened to that stupid Yea Forums avatar that hiroshima made a contest for? Is she off pleasing dirty old men for money? Or did she fall into the collective memory hole?
I like it.
Very cute. What's her name?
What is the best free drawing software and is it GIMP?
all software is free
he wanted someone to be the voice of it for free
guess what happened
Very cool Desco
>hole
every time
>ninoshit
fuck off
>Plz do Voice work and rigging for free.
Guess why people forgot immediately? On top of that that design is shit.
I think I'm improving
False assumption.
You can't copy things nearly as well as you think you do. This isn't meant to be a stab at you, I just know how it feels like to be at the point you're at.
Look at the observational drawings of some masters new or old and you'll get what I mean.
Worst girl won
wait, that won?
Thanks
She's cute and spooky, just how i like them
I got the cheapest Wacom years ago and it's still working fine
I remember that thread. Doing a fake cover real fast was fun
i just want my draws to have soul, but every time i feel like "what the fuck i'm even doing? this is shit"
no, it didn't
Drawings only have soul if the artist puts some into it.
Very interesting, what you say
I made pic related in exactly an hour - from scratch. I usually hate coloring because I have very poor taste in color palettes and more often than not I feel like I'm ruining what I do by coloring it.
Plus, it takes about 3 times longer than the actual drawing (I finished the basic lineart in around 15 minutes, minus the after-color rework, which took 5 minutes.)
I'm very interested in your work flow. As in, how do you usually go about coloring? Several layers? Clipping? And how do you make elaborate shading?
Listen to He's right just look at this
Maybe it looks weird, just trying my hand at odd perspectives
Reminder that Loomis is a meme and real men study Bridgman
I'll learn how to draw just to western everything that you love.
I used to have the same problem. Try gesture drawing if you haven't. If you have, do more of it. Gesture is very important and some educational books consider it more important than learning correct anatomy first. Look up quickposes.
Other than that, try to write down what you intend to draw. Give your picture some purpose before you start drawing and it will turn out better.
You're like 10 years too late.
>tfw too low iq to draw anime
Maybe. You get more and more unsure as the time passes.
I have been saving up for a drawing tablet because I really want to draw eroguro. What tablet should I get that won't let me down?
Don't get anything smaller than an jntuos medium unless you're drawing on a 13 inch laptop screen. The size of the tablet active area should be as close as you can get to your actual screen size without breaking the bank. One of the most common issues with beginners is that they chicken scratch because they can't draw precise lines with a 4x6" tablet area mapped to a 24" monitor.
Make a big head with small body. Give it giant eyes and a toothless mouth.
For me, I usually start with a basic sketch of what I want the shapes to be like and create another sketch on top that contains more detail. After that, I continue on another layer by drawing the line art. Sometimes I might revise things I didn't like about the sketch during the lining process. Since I find myself revising the sketch and lineart often, it takes me a bit longer than coloring.
For coloring, I usually use multiple layers to split up each part that I'm coloring and clipping for color adjustment/detail. If you're using PaintTool Sai, it's a lot easier to color to color if you have clean lines by just using the select tool. I put down the flats first and then start on the shading with a good blending brush, but I find that putting down the darker values first can help sometimes. I used to have the same problem as you with not liking how a piece looked after coloring it, but practicing painting really helped with that. You might also want to look at artists with good senses of color, my favorites are Zounose and Oyari Ashito. There's also nothing wrong with looking at color palettes online. Elaborate shading is something you learn from looking at other pictures over and over and imitating them; you'll have to start by using references at first but you'll eventually be able to do it by hand.
nope, I was just practicing and I thought it was a good idea to put many feet together in one drawing.
