Rewatching the entire series as an adult, I can honestly say that the only Digimon Tamers is the only series that still holds up in terms of story. Savers is passable as well.

Tamers came at a bad imo, a total spin off after the kind of sequel 02, a smaller cast of kids, a different approach to the fusion stuff and shit and it was a lot more mature, and some elements were simply too edgy considering Digimon was still a children's franchise. The charm of Adventure is that it's a kids cartoon with some mature elements and writing thrown in, it's still something kids watched, but then those kids grew up to be teenagers and adults and learned to appreciate it. They didn't properly evolve past that first stage and even today, using the Adventure characters to tell childish stories but with them older is... not an evolution. Digimon over the years has been known to be more mature so they should follow through on that instead of riding the nostalgia train.

Hoping Last evolution movie makes Taichi settling scores with Yamato. By the description of the characters' bio for the movie, it looks like there's gonna be a bit of bad blood and severed ties between them, and Taichi will return to his hotheaded and erratic ways. Him living alone on a flat and not being decisive about his career is like a metaphor for running away from past mistakes.

Each individual movie felt like it was written by a completely different person, who wasn't allowed to watch the previous movie before writing their script. If there was any outline, we wouldn't have gotten .

It's a bit too dark but it conveys how high the stakes were better.

I mean, the kids had been warned that the cat was a danger to the world and had to be destroyed and they had a taste of that when it infected their digimon and killed Leomon. Then a literal god tells them that it has to be killed or the worlds are fucked. Despite all that they refuse and don't admit their mistake even after they allowed an eldritch abomination to be summoned to the real world. The movies never stated it but Ordinemon must have caused at least a few million deaths worldwide.

Read between lines. I was postulating that only a few ones would know Taichi did the right thing, however, another faction (the one with Yamato, Mimi, Hikari and Jou) would've done with Taichi's coldblooded actions for the sake of humanity. Then, it's revealed in Last Evolution that it was for the worse, because Digimon are seen as more dangerous and menacing than before. Movie would start with Taichi living alone, ostracized by half the chosen (Hikari included) and being at an emotional and vocational disarray because of being haunted by the whole Ordinemon ordeal, then having the monster of the movie attack and Taichi having a hard time because of half of the children, specially Yamato, refusing to help him, even starting fistfights with the blonde because of him being blunt and venomous towards Taichi. Then, by the climax Taichi realizes he has done way much damage to the people he was once comrades and friends with, and still is the emotionally inmature 11 years old kid on the body of a 22yo adult and decides (wrongly) to amend things by atoning himself alongside Agumon, only to be stopped by Yamato, who finally decided to ditch his 5 years long grudge because Takeru and Sora convinced him Taichi didn't kill AIDScat because of ill blood, but because the world was at stake and decides to help him... the others (Hikari, Mimi and Jou) also help because Koushiro convinced them and saw Taichi going to extreme lengths to prove himself he did nothing wrong.

I remember when there were only previews of the second movie and some people thought it wasn't Ken but Taichi that had become evil or something.

Depending on the plot some of the 01 will also get quite a lot (most likely Koushiro since he is always exposition dump and ideas guy). 02 kids will have very little screentime unless one of them is plot relevant, and even then only one will be allowed to be plot relevant.

Should be noted Akiyoshi Hongo is not a single person. It's a pseudonym for the 3 main creators of the franchise: Aki Maita, Hiroshi Izawa, and Takeichi Hongo.

Yamato had to take care of himself and his brother because he recieved the lowest end of the parents' divorce. Due to that, he was forced to grow up. Him getting mad at Taichi is actually because he thinks Taichi doesn't think thoroughly about the consequences, puts everyone in danger and to top thst, is selfish and arrogant as hell. Remember when Vamdemon kidnapped every children and Taichi promised Hikari HE would singlehandedly save everyone... Yamato thinks he's just a thoughtless braggart with an inflated ego who gets away with his dangerous stunts because in the end he ends doing the righteous thing. Then again, Taichi doesn't think very highly about Yamato and even had the balls (ep. 45) to misjudge and call him a crybaby and escalate the fight into a fistbrawl (Yamato only wanted their digimons to fight each other. It was Taichi's bossiness and reckless arrogance that made things escalate into a fistcuff and posterior disbanding of the group).
So no, Taichi didn't put up with Yamato's shit, and even there were moments where he took Yamato's bluntness as personal insults towards him. Taichi's character arc in Adv. 01 was about humbling himself down, think less about himself and more into others, calming down and accept criticism from others.

well, Toei was present in the credits of Cyber Sleuth, and Kakudo works for Toei, so there's no reason to assume they're not involved in Survive.
But I really hope that this the direction they go for in future animation projects, and not more sequels or kids' shows.
I'm not saying the original cast are bad or anything, but the story can't experiment baarnd new stuff that way, at least without risking damaging the established lore of Adventures and making it more convoluted.

Clearly it's not been well received and even while I do understand the idea that teen romances don't pan out it's kind of silly that Hikari and Takeru also didn't get married but Yamato and Sora did despite not having any chemistry and it's like, they start dating as teenagers and their relationship holds on forever... because. The worst aspect of the pairing is how it character assassinates Sora though, she just becomes a quiet, humble housewife while her husband gets to be a rock star and astronaut, she just does a 180 and never looks back and is a competently different character than she was in Adventure, everyone else keeps their core personalities. I guess this is the childish idea that they have of "growing up", that you can't grow up to be an independent and smart woman, same with Taichi cutting his hair, you can't be yourself when you grow up, you just have to be a wagecuck. Also, wouldn't Taichi's job from that epilogue fit Yamato more?

I think so too. With Koushiro they do feel like good friends and the only point when they ever fight is when they are dealing with Mugendramon and Taichi becomes retarded because Hikari is about to die from Japanese Cold™. Even then they sort their issues pretty quickly with little drama. In 02 and Our War Game you can also see that they regularly chill out at each other's houses.

With Yamato on the other hand there's always this underlying tension that seems like could explode at any moment. In Tri the only difference from Adventure is that their relationship is less violent and more open but drama remains a constant that almost got violent again when Taichi decided to kill AIDScat.

They do need some big fight like the one they had at the end of Adventure but this time without anyone stopping them until they fix their deep, 20 year long issues.
