because she's a mary sue. She literally off screened the big spear dude who was previously as strong or stronger than her and Arashi's mentor or whatever, the other doctor. The guy's awful at writing compelling characters even if the plot is kind of interesting, but it's paced really poorly, especially as it heads to the final stretch
