It's basically a romance story between an immortal half-demon boy and a demon huntress girl that uses her blood as a blade. Make no mistake, there's definitely hunter vs monsters stuff there, but it's at its core a romance story.
I liked it quite a bit, but I can understand why somebody might not, especially with how jokey it can get sometimes. The sequel movie is much less jokey, though.
