It will be hard to fill those shoes
Fuck, I was dreading this. RIP
How are they supposed to come back from this? He’s the man that made Kyoani stand on it’s own two feet and the man responsible of their only two soulful shows post-Hyouka.
I have a lot of respect for those that understand fun, all his shows have aged like fine wine. Rest in peace big man.
You know what hurts the most? That all the people who passed away died without knowing the reason of their unjust death. But maybe that's for the best. That fatass criminal scum doesn't deserve to be in their thoughts.
They still have Yamada, completely different beast and honestly much less talented than Takemoto but something.
It should have been Ishidate god damn.
>Amagi Brilliant Park S2 NEVER EVER NEVER
The amount of hit shows Kyoani has produced and how many he directed just demonstrates how big of a loss this whole thing is. I doubt Haruhi would have been as big of a hit without Takemoto behind the helm. Hyouka had brilliant direction that I have yet to see done by any other studio. The industry is definitely poorer without him.
RIP
Shinji Gatoh is now without his best friend
Why'd this have to happen just as I was re-watching Hyouka ffs.
With Kigami gone they need Ishidate, even if you don't like the guy's direction.
;_;7
No wonder these shows sucked
I haven't watched a single one of his works. Which should I start with?
F
On a pure technical level, Takemoto's layouts have this distinct awareness of space and three-dimensionality that no other director in the industry has. when Takemoto storyboards an episode, the locations always suddenly feel...right. like you've stepped into the location yourself. His visual vocabulary is imo something that is unmatched within Kyoani and maybe the industry at large too. while things like meticulous character acting were learned from Kigami, the use of diverse visual styles to punctuate slice-of-life scenes is something that in my opinion, the entire studio picked up from Takemoto
>hyouka S2 never because muh honour means nobody else is allowed to direct it ever again
I know we weren't gonna get an S2 anyway but damn.
The only kyoani shows I liked were SAO, Mahouka, and Oreimo
RIP
Who else has been confirmed dead?
And on an even broader level, as a member of the studio's board of directors, Takemoto always had a big say in the kinds of stories the studio told. For example, Dragon Maid was distinctly Takemoto's project, to the point where he wrote original scripts for three episodes. Those episodes more or less epitomize the stories he's best at sharing - while other directors like Yamada are all about coming-of-age and change, Takemoto's shows are always about finding the beauty of the status quo and opening your eyes to the magic of the world that already exists before you. You see it in Dragon Maid's unlikely family bonds. You see it in his opus Hyouka, which can be summed up in a few words as the joy of existing.
But above all, one thing I keep coming back to with Takemoto is that with his passing, he leaves behind a huge legacy of mentorship. He was a frequent teacher at Kyoani's in-house animator school and influenced more or less everyone who's passed through the studio. His final legacy at Kyoani was mentoring Takuya Yamamura during his debut as series director on Tsurune. Even when he wasn't directly involved with an episode, you could feel Takemoto's style through the entire show. Takemoto was inspiring the next generation until the very end and it's safe to say his influence will be felt at the studio for a long time to come.
Thank you, Takemoto.
Naomi Ishida and Sachie Tsuda. Everyone has been ID'd so we'll probably hear more in the coming days.
I remember one of the major reasons I loved Hyouka was the story didn't end up devolving into some pointless love triangle for petty drama. It was about a group of friends getting along and appreciating the lives they have with each other. It was so refreshing to finally watch a story that could stand up on its own premise without resorting to gimmicks lesser studios depend on to keep people watching. Big RIP for you Takemoto. You will be missed.
Guys, how do I wake up from this nightmare?
I tried pinching my arm, but it doesn't work...
>opening your eyes to the magic of the world that already exists before you
I feel like Kyoani as a studio excelled in this regard. With projects like Hyouka, Free! and Euphonium I always felt a sense of freshness toward things that normally may not be that exciting. The studio and Takemoto especially had a knack for showing normality through a lens of bright eyed wonder that you couldn't help but get sucked into.
Fuck. I never saw Hyouka but I really loved Disappearance. I assumed the worst after he wasn't confirmed safe at the same time as the others but it still makes me sad.
Rest in peace, Takemoto-san.
>We will never get Haruhi S3
>implying it would've happened with or without the fire
GIVE
HIM
A
GODDAM
STICKY
FUCK
I have a huge respect for Hyouka, and everything I knew about the guy pointed to him being a good person. He'll be sorely missed, but I'll remember his work forever. Have yet to see Free or FMP, now's as good a time as ever.
I really want Gatoh torturing Aoba Shinji or at least being the one pulling the rope at the execution day
Also check out Hibike!Euphonium. He didn't direct it, but it is also beautiful nonetheless.
This world is cruel with good guys.
RIP
>Kyoani Company Main Server containing at least part of original sketches collection found externally unscathed
>Note that according to the company's appointed lawyer, data retrieving works have not yet started so they can't confirm whether the data is safe or not (e.g. heat damage to magnetic layer can't be ruled out yet). They are going to check with experts later.
Still the outer casing not being burnt - and the news that at least part of the original sketches collection has been digitized - is as good news as we can receive by now.
Fuck, he didn't deserve to go this way. None of them did.
Rip in peace, great dude.
KyoAni /g/ department finds a way!
I know it's both too soon and too late to say phew.
But phew.
Yup, I've seen it all except for the new movie. Takemoto directed episode 7 of S1, and storyboarded episode 2 of S1.
kind of a miracle but I hope it's a lesson that they need to be backing this shit up like 4 times.
>All of these Season 2 Nevers
Really makes you jogging your noggin.
post good memories
>Rest in peace, Takemoto-san.
Quads confirm it, Takemoto-san will rest in peace.
Time to rewatch Hyouka for the 4th time
Definitely a show that benefits from repeated viewings. I've only seen it twice, myself, but I'm far from done with it.
Time to finally watch it after all these years
F
Rest in peace Takemoto
I wish I had webms, but this file is old.
Still kinda hard to believe this is a reality. Out of every large organization, company, studio and office in Japan. KyoAni was mass murdered and attacked. An event that shacked an entire country. Like holy fuck. So bizarre random and just something that could have never been predicted.
>Killer still more important than Takemoto's death for the news
I'm fucking mad
By the way, sauce.
Someone post the S1 ending webm. You know the one.
May he rest in peace.
He was a great man, and a great director, working on a lot of shows I thoroughly enjoyed.
Anime/manga industry fans are lunatics. Not all obviously. But ya know
Another odd thing: I remember years ago looking at the building on Street View, out of curiosity, after seeing it mentioned on Yea Forums: it really is such a nondescript building given what is produced there.
Now it's a place of terror and death.
He wasn't an anime/manga fan, he was a video game fan.
Kyoani staff can be sorted like this
>Ishihara - mentor
>Takemoto - best TV director
>Yamada - best movie director
>Ishidate - best episode director
>Kigami - mentor/best animator
>Nishiya - best character designer
>Ishida - best color designer
More than half of them are gone. I can't see them ever recovering from this.
I liked Hatta's idea of replacing it with a park. Would be nice to visit one day.
So who are the senior creative staff left? Is it down to Ishihara?
I hope it inspires them to train a new generation of animators/directors, although I agree modern KyoAni won't be the same without them.
There's people that studied under them and learned what they do. It's not going to be the same but they literally have the backing of millions of people and the entire animation industry. Keep the hope, I'm quite confident they'll be fine.
>Lost their best TV director
>Lost their best color designer
>more losses incoming
feels bad
You literally got this from reddit.
>Dragon Maid
It's a shame the guy that did the only TV series from them I really liked in the past 6 years had to be one of the ones that didn't make it.
RIP to one of the best directors in the industry. His works had such a positive effect on so many of us its hard to believe he had to go this way. But at least he'll live on through his works and the countless people he mentored and influenced.
The loss of the animation school is deeply troubling. A set of young animators dead or shattered, the mentors, and the system itself.
was that him dancing at the end of the lucky star eps? or someone else?
>recognizing a post from reddit
go the fuck back
.......Haruhi season 3 has no chance now. Now it TRULY will never happen.........rest in peace Takemoto. We'll miss you lad.
did they even talk about making an s3?
The director of Dragon maid? That was my first and to date one of my favorite SoL... RIP. Even if Dragon Maid gets S2 it wont be the same.
Just imagine if that was the project to announce at the NHK interview
It was a short animation for the Olympics
>die for a lame shortfilm
goddamit
Literally all the best works they did. Everything else was mediocre at best.
Shit, now people have to pretend his stuff is good.
RIP to the victims
You also got this from reddit.
I thought i was prepared for this but the truth is i wasn't.
Rest in peace, you will not be forgotten
And the name of that short animation was Haruhi season 3.
People loved Haruhi and Lucky Star when they came out, and Hyouka has always been praised. Disappearance is pretty much universally considered one of the greatest anime movies of the 2000s. Perhaps they're just now learning that all of these works shared a directorial soul, but his works have always been beloved.
6AM NEWS TIME, LET'S SEE IF THEY SAY SOMETHING
I prepared myself all week, even cried over him and the situation, and now the sadness came crashing back again.
F
We knew this confirmation was all but certain, but it still stings.
link?
Anime directors are really unknown for actual "anime fans", besides the directors which also did anime films or meme directors (you know which). They tend to relate their likeness for the source material, the voice actors or the animation studio instead of the directors.
Where's the goose?
Fuck. This is really hard to process.. Also why isn't this a sticky yet mods?
>muh Hyouka and Takemoto
>posts Ishidate enshutsu
Every fucking time.
>There's people that studied under them and learned what they do.
Which also died in the fire user. That's why this incident was so devastating, not only killed masters, but their apprentices as well
They'll need to look outside Kyoani for some experienced staff for all diferent positions in the animation process, while they try somehow to teach new animation students (if the injured aren't able to draw anymore).
Sadly, their "character design" department was completely lost, all masters gone. Whatever it was taught, it can no longer be. So I hope at least one or two students survived, if not, the Kyoani style might be completely lost forever.
time to watch hyoka
it's nothing, no words, no feels rest well
thankyo for ani, Takemoto-san
FMP, Dragon Maid or Hyouka.
The worst thing is how those "anime fans" then go on and force studio wars further proving that they don't know shit about anime.
>aqstream com/jp/nhk/NHK-G
You can change channels at the left pannel.
NTV did a small piece but they jumped at to the arson again (get ready for next pic)
I was rewatching it when the fire happened and now I can’t watch another episode. Why must I be so emotionally weak goddammit.
Thankful this isn't a sticky. There's no need for shitposting on this man's career
Fuck
I didn't know before this all happened that so many of the shows I liked, and so many of those internet culture influencing shows all were directed by him. Big loss to lose him.
Police took away stuff from the arson's house, including 2 of this big bad motherfucker speakers, which he used to blast BGM video game music to his neighbours
What a perfect resumee, I know Ishihara is a legend and Yamada is great but this man was pure talent.
besides the eyes that man has a very western face
Bose 901?
Man the Japanese are wayyyy too afraid of confrontation. Maybe in another country someone would have already told him to fuck off and he would have offed himself.
Colorist yukie tsuda also confirmed dead by DNA
:(
Do we know they died in the fire? I know most of the animation was done on the third floor, but they have two other studios and 150 total staff members. Anyway my point was that there will be tons of people lining up to work for them now. Even if it's not the same, they will have people and hopefully resources to spend on trying to get it started again.
This. In another thread it was said that his parents disowned him way before this incident, but how in the fuck was he sustaining a lifestyle and not homeless?
He has left behind a wife and a seven year old daughter.
Heart breaking. And this is just one of 34 victims.
I think it's also that popular directors tend to trend toward those with a really obvious "auteur" style, like Yuasa or Shinbo (even if he doesn't really direct) or even Yamada, while directors like Takemoto or Mizushima are (well, were in this case) more versatile (ie. Lucky Star vs Hyouka vs FMP) but less easily memeable into "haha Yamada leg fetish" or "there's the Shinbo head tilt", despite making arguably better work.
>Sadly, their "character design" department was completely lost, all masters gone. Whatever it was taught, it can no longer be. So I hope at least one or two students survived, if not, the Kyoani style might be completely lost forever.
This breaks my heart
neetbux find a way
Wow it really was Yea Forums all along.
>hear about the fire when it happened
>gee I hope Hyouka’s director is safe
I fucking hate this shit. One more reason for me to kick the bucket soon
>Ishida left behind her elderly parents
>Takemoto left behind a wife, child and parents
>Megumi Ohno left behind her grandparents
We know that Studio was the training studio, so yeah.
>was that him dancing at the end of the lucky star eps? or someone else?
was he at the end of lucky star vids?
>Sadly, their "character design" department was completely lost, all masters gone. Whatever it was taught, it can no longer be. So I hope at least one or two students survived, if not, the Kyoani style might be completely lost forever.
Ikeda left Kyoani in 2014 so if there really is no survivors among the injured, we might have a functionally extinct situation.
Watching Amagi while it was airing and following the threads is a great memory. RIP
He didn't deserve to die. What a waste of talent and life. I hope they put the guy who did this through hell. I'm thinking Unit 731 style, livestreamed for the world to see.
You haven't even seen Haruhi? What are you doing here?
Favorite Megumu's Grandfather baseball team won this week with a 3 - 12 score at least.
...
their best director no contest.
Reading this thread only makes me angry.
Any news about what they plan to do with Aoba? Trial or a straight up death sentence?
>It's not on netflix though
welp
Yet another reason to adopt eugenics, if your child displays characteristics of abnormal social traits, forceful termination is in order.
retard
Nothing while he's into induced coma yet
What does that mean? Animation design? Do you think the new rebuild studios going to be like a sweatshop in consequence? Probably not
That guy will die while being in coma.
life imitates art
die.
sayonara
Does anyone know which shows kyoani were working? I thought they were done with the pre-production for dragon maid S2, but that might have been a baseless rumor.
Fuck I hope not. He needs to face the consequences.
i don't watch shows with whore VAs
I'll wait for the NTV24 re-run of news, I think they talk about Takemoto more before the speakers screencap
>Full Metal Panic!
>mediocre
>Full Metal Panic! The Second Raid
>Full Metal Panic! Fumoffu
>leagues better
>Lucky Star (first four episodes)
>literal garbage
>Lucky Star after episode 4
>legitimately great
>Haruhi seasons 1 and 2
>5/10 nostalgia bait
>The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya
>possibly the best anime movie ever made
>Free
>terrible franchise
>High Speed! Free Starting Days
>the only good part
Also Takemoto directed the 9th episode of Violet Evergarden. For all of that show's issues, episode 9 wasn't one of them.
>Takemoto would always send us tickets for the movies he made, and we would always go see them. My son was really kind. To me, he was really a more-than-perfect son.
Too easy, he has to suffer as much as his victims.
The drawing which was safe from the fire suggest it was from an upcoming anime about a atheist scientist which falls in love with a shinto priestess in Meiji (?) era I think.
>die while being in coma
Too peaceful, they should torture him for the rest of his natural life, without going overboard.
I.e. keep him alive for another, what 60-70 years, under constant torture, like, "please just kill me" levels of torture.
And every day, they should bring a knife up to his neck, and slice it, only for it to be a blunted edge, that didn't so much slice him, as drive the perpetual fear of living for over half a decade more under constant torture, without rest.
Thank you user
>Yamada
>much less talented than Takemoto
It's the other way around.
20 Seiki Denki Mokuroku. Pretty sure it was in preproduction at Studio 1 so either it was lost in the fire or safe if everything was on the server
Wait, japanese news look like that?
wow...
It is over
It was never confirmed if they were even making it,mthat along with the possibility of jc staff doing the second season
One way or the other I think pitting directors against each other in this thread is in bad taste
What are the chances it might still be worked on and finished? I sure pretty low but I want to have hope. I was really looking forward to it.
was it ever confirmed that Kyoani was working on Dragon Maid S2? It might've been another studio
they were working on the Violet Evergarden movie, a new Free movie, a new Hibike Euphonium project (unconfirmed if movie or TV series), and a new series based on one of their light novels, 20 Seiki Denki Mokuroku.
How do we benefit from him suffering?
All because of this Aoba piece of shit?
At least Takemoto was able to make so many great pieces
He will be missed
i wish the franxx director would die in a fire
>Lucky Star (first four episodes)
>literal garbage
Say that to my face and not online
Also he didn't direct FMP first season, that wasn't even KyoAni
Honestly can't argue with this. That faggot did much worse than Squealer
Depends how many of the victims were actively working on it probably. I doubt we'll see anything new announced about it for at least a year.
Correct, it was gonzo who did the first season, xebec(now sunrise beyond) did the 4th
VEG and Free are both done and will release on schedule. 20 Seiki Denki Mokuruoku was probably under construction at the studio and is going to be very difficult to rescue, along with Hibike S3 which they had just announced a few days prior I think.
This is all shit i got off Yea Forums so it's probably all incorrect.
aside from dragon maid, dude was a godsend.
That's about the data recovered, not about the people who would have been there to teach how to create them. The thing with art is that sure, if you just copy the end result you can get a rough approximation of what it was you were looking at and even make similar things, but only the experienced can teach the methodology of the techniques to deeply understand and really create in that mindset.
Squealer had a valid and respectable cause, despite his means.
You can't have the dead back, but you can give him a taste of his own medicine.
At the end NTV24 was talking about the fire again, they are from the fire department
If that happens this is the worst timeline. Some garbage human being just gets to peacefully go in his sleep.
That is a true statement but it doesn't answer the question. What's the measurable benefit to society from having him suffer?
Some more closure for the cruelty he want out of his way to inflict on innocent people. There needs to be severe punishment for atrocities of this level.
It's honestly a little shocking to me that the nipponese news keeps showing building schematics with death counts and burning models and stuff. I know it's in the interest of common knowledge, but it's still a pretty gruesome thing to show on TV for the common audience.
Literally, don't let this faggot die.
Use him for nuclear exposure testing(it wouldn't be the first time(Hisashi Ouchi sais Hi)).
Just keep him alive in as much agony is possible for humans to endure.
>damn Takemoto is dead
>oh I know it should've been Ishidate instead lol
>it's not like he's also one of the major directors and the only one currently at the studio who is capable of picking up the pieces left by Kigami
Cancerous fuck it should've been you instead.
Don’t even compare Squealer to this subhuman.
>Also he didn't direct FMP first season, that wasn't even KyoAni
Yeah, if you see the pattern of the post, it starts with something he doesn't direct of questionable quality and goes into something he directed of high quality.
just no
the younger fireman was almost crying at the end of the piece
I'm going to make you sadder now.
That's a mistranslation. His father didn't say "was". He still spoke of his son and his kindness using です, present tense, even though he already knew.
I feel like he would've been a good choice for a Lucifer and the Biscuit Hammer anime.
The police taking away computers, video game stuff and other things from Aoba's house
Is that pic from Stone? I think I'm sad enough to recognize it.
>There needs to be severe punishment for atrocities of this level.
Why?
There is a timeline where Takemoto directed VEG entirely.
You can also just admit that you didn't watch dragon maid.
And last the other speaker he had.
TV Asahi is doing a countdown news, let's see if they talk about this too.
>cameras literally everywhere
Good to see Japanese media is as toxic as everyone else's
I already feel like a dead man you can't make me sadder
Anyone know if there's been any news about a possible change to their standards for building's fire codes and anything about other studios/businesses changing their security or updating their buildings since this whole incident?
The only certain thing here is that Kyoani's design in the future will be a whole different thing at all. And they'll need to polish this new style with the years just like the old staff did since Key period. (Key > K-on > K esuma bunko period)
So you'll probably see average designs in the next works. Yamada and Ishihara are both directors, I think they can draw as well but it's not their strong point. They need to hire two or three really good designers and animators now.
>the arsonist got to enjoy a comfy life being a NEET parasite
>will probably die peacefully in his coma
It's not fair
It gives closure and satisfaction to the people that want to see him suffer i.e. the whole of japan and all the weeaboos in the rest of the world.
Akiko Takase lives, they say.
TIMOTEEEEEIII
Torturing a puppy gives satisfaction to the people that want to see puppies suffer. Is that also a reasonable way to spend our resources?
Yamada has done key animation even recently. She can definitely draw, but I don't know about character designs.
Most of the animators weren't even there I believe since there's at least 3 other buildings, I know what you mean though. Hopefully it's actually faithful and not quality
Having to feed him, keep him alive costs public money. All scum like him deserve to be tortured for a while and then eliminated.
If the puppy killed 34 people and injured 35 more then yeah, we would spend resources to put it down.
I think we're forgetting that Yamada is a big fish now because of her anime movies, and maybe she don't want to go back to an anime series but directing anime films only now. What if she left KyoAni because she wants to keep directing movies and she goes to other studio instead for achieving that?
>kick the bucket soon
And spill the gasoline all over the place?
It feels like this has brought out the edgy side of so many people. It's amazing how many people have brought up torture in the threads about him.
Takase is alive alongside most of the VEG crew. They'll manage somehow.
Deterrence is an excellent anti-motivator.
If everyone knows there are teams specialized in live capture and that you'll be carefully skinned alive publicly over the course of a month for crimes of this degree, less people will commit them.
>but they'll just kill themselves quickly after the crime
Equip every commercial and industrial building with multiple tasers, mandatory suppression training for all employees stationed near building thresholds.
Wouldn't even cost that much to implement and it'd likely stop damn near 100% of terrorism preemptively.
Fire alarms and fire extinguishers are mandatory in most western counties, we can go a step further and provide more safety measures appropriate to the age.
One thing I've been wondering is even if there are survivors and even if they're relatively capable of still animating, would they be too traumatized to even go back to the industry? I fee like that's something being glossed over by a lot of people in regards to them rebuilding.
>Hyouka
garbage romcom trash
aside form that everything else was amazing.
Having him do community service generates public money.
>All scum like him deserve to be tortured for a while and then eliminated.
You should erase the word "deserve" from your vocabulary. It doesn't matter what anyone "deserves", because no rational decision is ever dependent on that.
>Today is grandfather's day
pleb
I get you and everything, but all those measures might as well be spent on researching what cause retards like that to go off and kill people.
I did, and dropped it at episode 4. Kanna was just annoying token fetish loli and the whole yuri-stick didnt appeal to me at all.
> He was the director of LuckyStar
deserved it
Just kill me anons, Okabe pls change this fucking timeline.
There is so much garbage in the world at that fucking NEET had to kill good and insanely talented people that brought sad Yea Forumsnons hapiness to their miserable lifes...
I hope Hatta does end up turning it into a memorial park
Would be great to have a nice place to pay respects
Why the fuck are you moving goalposts? Are you autistic or are just saying you don't think he should pay with his life for the tragedy he committed?
That basically would be like abandoning the ship when she's most needed. It might help her career? Yeah, maybe. But it would be a nasty move to be honest, maybe fans won't support her just as much as before
At least the balcony jumper old guy is already back to work.
I'm less concerned about mental trauma and more about physical trauma, since fucked up hands aren't going to be making anything and will most likely be more mentally distressing for the person in question.
>t. 1st year armchair philosophy student
Is your useless degree a reasonable way to spend your resources? Enjoy being unemployed for the rest of your life.
Good ole' false equivalency.
Just fuck off.
>NTV24 also has english version with a milfy host
wew
They did not have to die. They could have all lived.
What has she animated recently?
Hyouka is a fucking masterpiece and one of the finest shows to ever be produced, You have my eternal gratitude Takemoto.
Yamada loves Kyoani. I don't care to look for the source but she's said she wants to work there forever.
>milfy host
Far from a milf.
How is requesting the torture of a mass murderer edgy? It’s literally the opposite of edge. Go and stay go with your canned moralism.
Hyouka had a rough start but the school festival was one of the best things that has happened in anime.
>Kigami and Takemoto are now up there far away from this painful world
I remember watching that funny TSR extras. IIRC Kigami was harping Takemoto about the money owes him.
Okay softie, have your (You)
I guess Japanese people do have that worker's mentality. And of course physically that's an issue.
Don't we still have Akiko Takase?
Burning alive is one of my worst fears so no :(
Noriyuki Kitanohara was the "man-for-everything" at KyoAni, and he left with no burns, he can carry on the studio by himself if need it.
So it was Bose 901. I don't know what I'd do if I had to listen to those...
That and plane/car crash user.
Kys.
Calling for anyone to be tortured is edgy. Regardless of the morality of it, for your own sake I hope you understand that most people don't think that way.
Takase is a beast but I can't see her be as flexible as Nishiya. Nishiya really shines the most because of the range of styles that he can implement in his works.
>How is requesting the torture of a mass murderer edgy?
Going on about how badly people want someone to suffer certainly sounds edgy to me. At least more edgy than the ones that just want to laugh at Kyoani fans here.
he definitely got a taste of his own medicine. call it poetic justice; he may well die from the fire he started. That's what you get.
No. Franxx director is great. Imaishit on the other hand..
You're right, but deterrence and prevention can go hand-in-hand.
Without a doubt, prevention is ideal but it requires a lot of good observation to identify these people (and what about people falsely identified?); further, some of them may never present anything observable prior to a crime, which is where deterrence and workplace safety comes in.
Yea Forums has found the motive.
We torture people for MUCH less around the world, and have since the beginning of time. Welcome to reality faggot.
I remember this. Does anyone have these extras? I would love to see their location scouting in Hong Kong.
She's literally credited as a key animator on the Eupho Finale movie that came out April of this year.
I hope so then.
Why does he look so fucking ugly?
The bitter sweet memory of Takemoto makes this a timeless classic in my opinion.
youtube.com
One of the best OPs ever.
That's really cool, I'll have to look out for that.
Maybe he didn't even have the equalizer box and they sounded even shittier than usual.
I think if you're that fucked up nothing will deter you from anything.
I remember FMP second raid and can't stop crying anons...
こ、これは
If I had a good PC right now, I would totally make a tribute to this guys work. He deserves the recognition.
I don't think he should necessarily be tortured, but he definitely should get a swift public hanging.
I think it's a bad picture.
Plus, what are only attractive people allowed to do anything?
>Hyouka last episode's ending
NOOOOOOO MY FEEEELSSSSS
I wish for the suffocating kind of public hanging instead. Having his neck break is not enough.
He will
I feel you, I finished S1 of Euphonium an hour before the fire and I haven't even been able to start S2.
It's really daunting that the ones left at this studio have a large shoe to fill. With Kigami most likely gone, Kitanohara and Ishidate need to step up. Takase will most likely be filling in to do a lot of Character Designs soon.
I swear if the fatso arsonist isn't killed i'm going nucleeaaar. I'm sick of fucking criminals being set free in my shithole third world country
As long as it doesn't cost the state any more money to take care of him that way, it's good. Someone posted that the Japanese capital punishment was a kind of mental torture where you never knew when you were going to be executed, but that just wastes too much resources on these kinds of shitheads.
I'm not against the death penalty, it's just a lot of the posts read like emos talking about how much they'd torture their bullies, which gave the edgy feeling.
A public hanging would be fun though and I'd probably watch it even though I'm not a huge Kyoani fan.
He won't be set free, but he will be either taken care of and fed in a comfy prison for many years before his execution or die peacefully in his coma.
>NHK talks about KyoAni
:D
>it's fat americans doing homage during an anime convetion
OH NONONONONONONO
Want the screencaps? It's gonna be ogre
Man, if he dies peacefully in the hospital, or in 50 years in a prison cell, that's to be wondered, but setting this guy free, that's pretty much impossible.
>mfw most kyoani anime i liked was directed by Takemoto
I spent too much good time because of his work i hope somewhere in the after life he know how much joy his work bring to us up to this day.
1 minute of silence at the auditorium
Morning shows, yes.
Bless you user. This is the kind of post I treasure Yea Forums for.
RIP. ;_;
Support messages on the wall
Oh yeah I get that too, the problem with torture is that on the one hand the information you get is unreliable anyway and on the other for cases like this, you're wasting an incredible amount of state resources to sustain this one douche. In the US, a typical prisoner costs $31,000/year, and that's without the added expense of torture or humane Japanese prisons.
No. Compartmentalise it and memory-hole
Even if they hypothetically set him free (which is not going to happen) some mad Kyoanifag would track him down and beat him so hard he'll die for real this time.
Disappearance is a masterpiece above most works in this medium and any other medium.
This makes me so sad. RIP
His works will make him and his fallen comrades eternal
I'm allowed to cry for this anons? Or I'm being to much of a faggot? T-THERE IS SOMETHING IN MY EYE

Sticky please.
for me the mc the one who turned me off
That didn't happen to Robert Thompson and Jon Venables, and it wouldn't happen to this guy either
Ok I'll end at the messages then, it's just one more
>those fucking "messages"
I'm embarrassed
I'll be that mad Kyoanifag if need to be. Throwing a molotov on his dumb face would be sweet justice.
>UwU
and done about it
I loved Disappearance. It feels so emotionally charged even though there's tons of scenes with little dialogue. Next time I watch I'll be sure to think of him and how his life and understanding of things influenced all the little details in that film I love so much. Rest in peace.
If by beat him you mean burning the fatso alive, then yes.
>hit or miss huh
Christ.
What was the biggest difference between the first 4 episodes of lucky star compared to the rest?
they are still going to make stuff.
>burger weeb
Truly the most cancerous kind.
>hit or miss huh
what the fuck
Yamakan directed them and he only did food references.
>Setting free a guy which killed 34 persons and invalidated perhaps 10~15 more.
Not even worth thinking "what if", the guy either is executed or rots in jail for the rest of his life, in complete solitude. (Assuming he won't die now in the hospital)
some edgemaster from Yea Forums snuck past security
Who thought this was a good idea? Please tell me they didn’t send it over.
I now understand why people use the word cringe. This is maximum cringe.
It shouldn't come as a surprise that the people going to cons are the gaiafaggots of today.
In my shithole country you can kill 15 and became a senator, so I don't know.
>the added expense of torture
I doubt it'd cost them anything. I'm sure plenty of people would do it for free in this case. The main problem is that people have done much worse than him and like them I'd only expect the death sentence when it's obvious who did it like in this case.
He would never be free.
He dies in the hospital or get sentenced to death.
>sub to mr beast
>sub to pewdiepie
>you cute... I guess
>hit or miss, huh?
Disdain for Americans.
He used to compare himself to a monkey. I don't have the picture on this comp, but there's a screenshot, I think from the FMP fact-finding/drinking trip to Hong Kong, with a close-up of him and the subtitle 100% サル.
>Sub to PewDiePie
>Hit or miss, huh
I hope this board is crushed by some car while transportated or something.
>hit or miss huh
>sub to pewdiepie

Jesus Christ.
They also took this away from arson's house. I also hear he had music instruments like a tambourine.
I hate normalfag anime fans so fucking much
Someone should tell NHK that the messages were disrespectful as fuck
It just seems disrespectful if the intent was to send this to KyoAni.
>subscribe to pewdiepie
>hit or miss huh
>junko "despair" to a studio that just lost half its team
>all the art account plugging
It's just gross.
What am I looking at?
But /pol/ told me the "free speech" would keep the "normies" out!
They are doing another profile about the arson, not talking about the victims again (Dunno if it's because of respect or because they care more about the arsonist figure than about anime workers)
There were more fighting game references in the first 4 episodes than food related ones. Also, how is that related to direction? Everyone says Yutaka shat all over LS but I honestly don't see why
Reminder he expressed condolences for kyoani while Trump didn't
Best way to donate?
I don't trust my bank
Who is Trudeau's waifu?
Talking about his previous crimes too
They were slow and boring those first 4 episodes.
I think and hope it's for respect for the family so they have time to mourn in private.
I hate americans so much.
It absolutely would. It's not just the price of the employee but the training/clearances you'd have to undergo to administer it, the cost of the materials involved, the cost of keeping the arsonist alive, etc.
Donations resume
holyfuck the only thing I get is the 下着
What the fuck did he do with the 下着?
Rest in Peace ;_;
Some free dude
And Hatta saying thanks. That's all from TV Asahi.
They talk about the death of yukie tsuda in other channel tho Must be depending the family wishes
That's because Trump's foreign policy has been pretty much entirely isolationist outside of the odd drone strike or tweet whenever a politically expedient attack in a foreign country happens.
not him, but I'm gonna start Hyouka out of respect. It's been waiting on my list forever.
I like the pace of the rest of the show, but don't think the beginning was boring
Yeah sure, not like the media doesn't run over itself to frame whenever he can read off a teleprompter or whenever he pulls some drone strike as great things.
So all of the current projects are RIP unless they are finished, right? My guess is many will retire because of trauma and respect but we can safely assume Kyoani can only come back as an entirely new studio.
>下着の勧低禁行がどの疑いで退柚
Did he stole underware or public exhibition?
Just make sure you go in with the right expectations. It’s not a slice of life coming of age story, nor is it an episodic mystery show, it’s both. Something more than the sum of its parts.
Wow that sounded enormously faggy
Man, this one is hitting me hard. I knew he was dead when they said they couldn't find him after the fire but I hoped he wasn't.
He made so much I really enjoyed, and I'm so bummed out he can't create more anime. He did more in his career than most, and he left a real impactful legacy, I think, but the fact his future was robbed and the works he made end here is a really bitter pill to swallow.
I guess I mourn the loss of his talent more than anything, I think. The entire thing is a shitshow of depressing proportion but this man made so many anime I really, really enjoyed, and am sad that this is the end. Still, I guess I take comfort in knowing that he won't be forgotten. That his work has and will continue to inspire more people.
delete this right fucking now
Just follow. He's been tweeting info on how these past few days.

>the cost of keeping the arsonist alive
I'd hope not many people genuinely want it to go on that long. It's sounding like people actually want something like the White Bear episode of Black Mirror to happen, where a big expense is made to entertain the public with it.
While I don't care about his well-being in the slightest there are enough people that actually tortured people that are more deserving of those sorts of punishment.
Once your dead it doesn't make a damn bit of difference how or why it happened. You won't be capable of caring.
he was affectionately referred to as the beast by his fans
I wonder if Takemoto went to Heaven or Hell
Catharsis. It's not right, but that's what it is.
KyoAni let Yamada direct her own series when she was fucking 24 years old. It was a huge gamble and she has to know she owes them.
Thank you
From what I heard capital punishment in Japan is already a kind of torture where they don't tell you your date of execution until the day it happens. IRRC the average length before execution was 7 years, which would be around a quarter of a million dollars at the minimum.
She already sucked plenty of dicks for that
I loved Kamisama no Memochou, and based on what you said, it's probably pretty similar. Slice of Life gets boring fast, but I feel at peace watching it. It's not like Toradora where it's heartwrenching or JoJo where it's full of suspense and fun.
Worth it, I would have even gave the whole studio to her just for that.
P-p-proof?
Holy shit look at that neck! No wonder Liz to Aoi Tori looked like that.
To be clear, the arsonist did commit multiple acts of torture. We don't talk about it much these days, but setting fire to an occupied building is nigh the most heinous crime known to man. It's the cruelest form of mass murder.
>KyoAni let Yamada direct her own series when she was fucking 24 years old.
Who the fuck thought this was a good idea, she has been directing colorful trash for years.
it's just some edgy weeb obsessed with her
the very best
rest in peace
This fucking board just can't shut the fuck up and respect the dead. This is exactly how psychopaths breed
Honestly, the industry (not just anime, anything involving otaku) need to increase security. Even if it's just a 1% of fans that are homicidal, they need to take measures against them.
Hey K-On was good. She kind of just went on to do variations on the same thing after that, but you know.
*posts a 9-11 meme*
It's mind blowing that they don't have backups, let alone have production servers anywhere but colocated in a datacenter
A few bucks a month in cloud storage and a cronjob could have made this a non-issue
I mean they could at least hire a single security guard to check in at the front desk or something. I get Japan is mostly safe but still.
Agreed.
Japanese workplace is really behind the technology they use to do in Japan and in the West.
This guy's work will live forever, future animefans maybe won't recognise him by name, but he will continue bringing hapiness with the art he produced for many generations to come. Look at this place, he even melted the icecold heart of this horrible shithole of a community.
Farewell sweet prince, you will be missed.
That's what happens in those terrible stickies where crossboarders come to gawk, but this thread has mostly been pretty respectful about the man and his work.
Kyoto Animation is much closer to a painter’s home studio on this arbitrary spectrum than an accounting firm. I’m sure it never really occurred to them that something like this was possible.
So what are the chances of that S2 of Lucky Star right now?
>but setting fire to an occupied building is nigh the most heinous crime known to man
After the concrete girl case and reading things like Mii inside the Box I can't really feel that when he didn't go out of his way to cause suffering. I'd choose the fire over either of those situations.
The scale of the reaction here is just because of the target of the attack, not the attack itself.
RIP
He was one of the best

nips were super mad
>Director
While it's tragic. Does it really mean that much?
All of his decent works had good source material, voiceacting, animation and music.
Looks like someone missed and didn't hit their kid a few times too many.

>romcom
You didn't even watch it retard
The director is basically the Conductor of a orchesta. You can't gather all the talent you want, but if you don't have someone who recognise that a adjust the pieces in their correct place it won't work.
*can
A conductor really isn't that important at all
fuck this gay earth
and everyone left on it
I recognize this sticky.
The anime has good voiceacting, animation and music because the director was the one who choose and make the path to follow for the making of those, and sometimes also adapts himself the source material.
Compare the first 4 lucky star eps to the rest of the show. Here's your answer.
I guess now we know
RIP
Well fuck you too buddy
>still seething more that 6 decades after
Fucking edgy amerifats
I play in an orchestra and I took conducting lessons in college and there’s no orchestra without the conductor. Sure, they can play the music without a conductor, and good orchestras will play well, but literally every input and impulse of the music is imparted by the conductor. Not only during performance, but they are in charge during rehearsals, and ask for certain things that will be different from other conductors for the same passage of music.
Ahahaha based and redpilled am I right bros? :DDD
This, has nobody watch Nodame Cantabile or even Hibike here?
If they thought the tsunami was payback for Pearl Harbor, wtf did they think the nukes were?
You know, maybe Yea Forums isn't so bad after all.
>doesn't know what's done with 下着
Literally every profession has an anime where whatever the fuck they do is presented as the most important job on the planet
That was a war crime and they're ready to apologize
RIP.
Doing justice to decent source material can still be difficult. I've seen enough cases were it goes wrong. I doubt any director will make something you hate good but a great director can elevate something you like even higher.
Also in quite a few cases he was also involved in scripting and storyboarding, which would give him even more influence over the end product we see.
>it's literally just /pol/
Tell that to Masami Tsuda
Pleb question, how many anime directors are commonly involved in story boarding? I would imagine they would be but is that not the case?
>this distinct awareness of space and three-dimensionality
Reading this and seeing that club room of Hyouka reminded me of the second OP (if I recall correctly) where Oreki floats on the other side of the slightly mirroring cabinet and gets pulled into "reality" by Chitanda.
RIP Takemoto, I hope you have a rose-colored afterlife.
Has anyone played Dancing Blade?
Takemoto was the character designer of the game.

RIP, Takemoto. Your works will forever have a special place in my heart.
Every single time is the same, missing = death 99% of the time. But you can't blame them user, you can't take away people's hope.
You're wrong.
You haven't heard the stories of the survivors yet. Burning is the worst pain imaginable.
Why do you think any sports team has a coach?
Same with anime. To produce a coherent and focused work, its staff needs guidance.
Storyboarding is the most important part of pretty much any production.

And? The /pol/ thread about the arson was full of Jew scapegoating, "bugmen deserved it", and other edgy shit. They like Japan for being part of the Axis and being xenophobic, not because they actually care about Japan.
What a loss. I don't have words for it.

justice
/pol/ likes nothing. They even argue over whether white people are actually white or should be gassed with the other niggers. The only reason they have any affinity for Japan is because the Japanese hate niggers almost as much as /pol/ does.
Is there a list of everyone who's dead?
So people can have a common ennemy. People need antagonists they have no remorse considering like demons, not humans.
So they can unleash their anger somewhere, and feel like the good guys, and have some closing (funny thing : the closing has to come from inside, not from torture and shit. But it's hard to understand even if people see the message in all of their favorite fictions)
>both the director and lead colorist behind this scene are dead
fuck
According to The ChugokuShimbun,
Futoshi Nishiya was confirmed dead.
Your favorite fiction sounds pretty gay. How it usually works:
>goody confronts the baddy
>doesn’t shoot him
>goes into melee and beats him to a pulp
>baddy: kill me
>goodie: nope
>goodie turns around defiantly
>baddy tries one more time
>goodie kills baddie
Like do you even fiction?
literally who?
They need to take him out of the coma and splash acid on him.

Adults go missing a lot too. Ever felt like just leaving your job and everyone you know behind? Well a lot of people did, they were all reported missing only to turn up in some other city doing something else a couple of years later
What are the chances of them hiring outsiders into Japan in an effort to rebuild? Surely there are many loyal fans out there that would want to be a part of their comeback, if it happens.
