For the past two years, I have been desperately searching for good romance manga about real couples. I have found a lot of them, but there are fairly few good ones. To spare anyone else of the torment I had to go through, I compiled a list of the ones I think are good. Please post additions in this thread if you think you know more good romance manga that focus on a couple that gets together early on.
Legend: WF = Wish Fulfillment OA = Odd Artstyle HR = Highly Recommended D/T = Drama/Tragedy AA = Anime Adaptation CRP = Cute, but Retarded Plot
>14-sai no Koi >3D Kanojo (HR, D/T, AA) >Ai Yori Aoshi (CRP) >Ao no Flag (D/T) >Arasa Dakedo, Hatsukoi desu >Ase to Sekken (WF, CRP) >Boku to Watashi no Henai Jijou (CRP) >Bonnouji (HR) >Coffee & Vanilla (WF) >Darling wa Namamono ni Tsuki >Fujiyama-san wa Shishunki (OA) >Hapi Mari (WF) >Hatsukare >Horimiya >It's Not Meguro-san's First Time >Kare Kano: His and Her Circumstances (AA) >Kawaii Hito >Kawaii Joushi wo Komarasetai >Koukou Debut >Kyou no Yuiko-san >Love Roma (OA) >Lovely Complex (AA) >Mairimashita, Senpai >My Perfect Girlfriend! >Namaikizakari >Natsu no Zenjitsu (HR, D/T) >Ore Monogatari (HR, AA) >R-18 (WF) >Sukitte Ii Na Yo (AA) >That Girl Is Not Just Cute >Tonikaku Kawaii >Tsurezure Children >We Were There: Bokura ga Ita (HR, D/T, AA) >Wotakoi: Wotaku ni Koi wa Muzukashi (HR, AA) >Yandere Kanojo (CRP)
I've read most in your list and I would like to recommend boku to kimi no taisetsu na hanashi. Don't be turned off by the shoujo tag, the art is great and the plot isn't retarded.
Nicholas Adams
Thanks user! I have read Boku to Kimi and I really like it as a manga, but they just got kinda together in the latest chapter so I didn't think it would be appropriate for the list.
Kevin Thompson
Bless you user. I would recommend you read Molester Man if you haven't already, it's not focused on the couple from the beginning but the chemistry of the main couple later on is great. Thanks for the list.
That one always slipped below my radar because of its title, thank you for recommending it!
Isaac Walker
>Natsu no Zenjitsu Why would you do this
Cooper Stewart
If you don't mind Joseishit, Nigeru wa Haji da ga Yaku. (OA, D/T) Whatever drama there is, the characters actually fucking communicate with each other.
It's one of the best manga of all time. And judging by your reaction, you know exactly why.
I'll have to check it out, thank you!
Jackson Thomas
>judging by your reaction, you know exactly why Are you a cuck?
Hudson Long
What?
Gavin Jones
Ore X Yome has probably my favourite oneshot ever.
There's also Futari no Renai. (HR) that's a comfy short read about younger man x older woman. You like 14-sai no Koi so check out Game Over as that's all about the boy and office lady.
Kannou Sensei is fucking cute. where the fuck are my updates
Adam Reyes
Thank you for the recommends, I don't usually read shorter manga but I'm sure I will enjoy Ore X Yome and Game Over. Futari no Renai has an amazing first few chapters, but it kinda trails off after that.
I knew it had some really retarded plot, but if it's cute I have to read it, thanks user!
Sorry if I didn't make it clear enough in the OP, but these are just manga about contemporary couples living non-supernatural lives (I would have definitely included Half & Half and other great manga otherwise). But I have no doubt that the fantasy stories you recommended are great and I will definitely give those manga a shot. Osananajimi and Henshin Gambo look amazing though.
Same as the other user, I know that's a great manga, but I only focused on contemporary realistic stuff in this thread.
Yeah, it's just that 95% of yaoi characters are written to pander to the audience instead of being actual characters. I know there are a lot of great stories to be told in that genre, but I honestly haven't developed the judgement needed to actually discern which ones are good in a reasonable timeframe.
Ok but what about more manga like Gaishuu Isshoku or Rakujisu no Pathos? Secret perverted relationships where the characters obviously have romantic feelings for each other that can only be expressed through fooling around with each other while everyone around them is oblivious to it? Bonus points if it does NOT take place in a high school setting
>only 4 chapters I can't get into a story if its so short, nahhhh
Kevin Hall
Mind you, Kimi No Iru Machi is dubbed The Town Where You Rage If you can stand all the bullshit drama then might as well read Sukuza, Fuuka, Good Ending, and DomeKano.
Christian Walker
If you haven't read Octave you should. (yuri/drama) I thought it stood out as a bit more mature than the rest.
ao no flag goes to utter shit once they become a couple though
Logan Richardson
there's an ongoing sequel with like 20 chapters you slut
Thomas Price
You are a fucking cuck. Get a gf you virgin
Grayson Martinez
DomeKano is another one of the manga I deemed to retarded for me and I dropped Good Ending. I'm definitely willing to keep an open mind and give those four manga a shot if I know what I'm in for though.
Thank you for the yaoi/yuri suggestions, I could definitely use some of those considering that I haven't really delved into those kinds of stories.
Those manga are basically just elaborate hentai though.
It definitely changes, but I've still been enjoying it.
Joshua Stewart
ahh, i wasn't trying to recommend Gaishu Isshoku for your list. I just wanted more recommendations like it. Sorry about that
If I was a fuming virgin like you, I couldn't stand to read manga about happy couples in love.
Carson Mitchell
Call me a slut one more time, you fucking whore
Aaron Ortiz
How about this ?
Julian Parker
Seconding Octave, as it sounds like realistically written people living their lives and finding peace in one another is what you're into. Another good yuri one is Kase-san, way sillier and fluffier but it's interesting in that it actually follows their relationship through high school and has an ongoing spinoff/sequel of them in college.
I think you might enjoy H-Mate and Nozoki Ana then.
Thomas Reyes
If you're into perverted relationship, try Lust Geass and Tsumi no Kai.
Thomas Allen
Already reading that, actually. But I guess i like the characters to interact with each other because they want to, not because of some supernatural reason. Still pretty good though
Please consider taking koukou debut off your list so I can criticize your taste without restraint
Parker Harris
Just criticize the ones that have the HR next to them because those are the ones I actually really like.
Evan Sanders
just read it you filthy (You) slut
Jaxson Price
>3D Kanojo HR U w0t m8 It was bad
Jacob Lopez
what about ones where they actually fuck
Dylan Harris
Kuzu no Honkai (HR, D/T, AA)
Kevin Flores
No, it was actually good.
They fuck in a lot of the manga I posted.
Eli Martinez
I'll read it, you whore. But only because you were so forceful
Brandon Reed
Living Game is a classic that more people should know about. Has few misunderstandings that get solved within the same chapter usually. It helps that the MC knows that as the older one, he should be the mature one in the relationship regarding the mix-ups.
Nodame Cantabile is more comedy than romance, but I'll use any excuse to give it more attention. AA and Live action as well.
Sakuranbo Syndrome has lots of that. Guy is single but gets a gf he loves and fucks a lot. He also has to keep kissing another girl though so she doesn't turn back into a fetus and back into nothingness. Don't worry, he tells his gf all about it so no cheating here. The issue is the girl he has to kiss starts to get pretty jealous.
Saotome Senshu. Love Lab (you must watch the anime first then read the manga, the scanlators decided to skip what the anime already covered) Sensei wa Koi o Oshie Rarenai Kannou Sensei Shiota-sensei to Amai-chan 7 Jikanme no Note Our Precious Conversations Inugamihime ni Kuchizuke Tsuki Ga Kirei (my favorite romance of all time, but it's an anime only)
OP is based as fuck for having 14-sai and Love Roma on there.
Where can you read the latest chapters? Danke hasn't updated in a while.
Cameron Jenkins
I meant the last chapter that came out, which was three months ago afaik.
Jaxson Gutierrez
just don't read it all in one sitting like some slut with no self control
Henry Robinson
Living game is really good but it trips at the ending. All of Vol 10 aside from the last chapter didn't need to happen. Everything in the main story was wrapped up by vol 9, then the whole last book is filler drama for no reason. It is still good, but man that last book really drags the whole series down.
Eli Nelson
Kuzu no Honkai is not tragic, just angsty. For similar feeling, read Hatsukoi Zombie, Himegoto: Juukyuusai no Seifuku, Citrus, Netsuzou Trap, Koi to Uso.
Leo Campbell
Thanks doc
Tyler Smith
Highly recommend Itoshi no Kana for anyone looking for a ghost romance manga. It's short enough to read in 2 hours since it got canned and it's still a great read.
Just finished molester man instead of going to sleep lol (It's 2:30 AM here and I guess my insomnia is never going to end). It was definitely a good manga and the references were dated enough that I actually understood them. Sad that the couple literally just gets together at the end, but the ride was good.
Isaac Morgan
Also it reminded me of what Yea Forums used to feel like for me, sad that now we only get rare comfy threads (like this one) in a mountain of garbage and all the interesting shit is reduced to discordfag drama. Gonna take some shots of vodka and pass out now though.
David Green
fuck yuri shit though
Christopher Howard
If it wasn't 5 in the afternoon for me, I'd know what you're feeling. Goodnight, user
>It's Not Meguro-san's First Time this one is the best by the way. MC is an absolute gentleman despite the wimpy exterior. >Horimiya >Tonikaku Kawaii Based
Michael Hill
Mairimashita Senpai (also known as You Got Me, Sempai.) It's pretty cute and doesn't shy away from lewdness pretty early on, there's also plenty of fluff as well. It's a shoujo for par for the course there's this rival character of sorts but he doesn't get anywhere from what I've read. It's not being scanlated since Kodansha is releasing English volumes, the sixth volume is out August 6 I believe but only four volumes are freely available online. They do in this manga.
