A new Yugioh series was announced for 2020

I want to see a yu-gi-oh series with these premise

>90% of the duelists who face him actively mock him for being too old

This. Another thing i noticed starting from Zexal, was the absence of god cards. The original Yugioh had the Egyptian Gods, GX has the Sacred beasts, and 5DS has the Nordics. I mean sure, god cards are absolutely shit in today's meta, but knowing that the other Yugioh series don't have god cards just makes me unable to accept them as true and faithful.

Yugi probably has the most ridiculous hairdo after Yusaku though.

I don't know if just me, but I find the stories and lore of the monster cards in their fantasy world far more interesting than the card duel we got years after years.

Makes sense. The card game hits all the right beats with it's story lines. The anime has to sell to little kids so while it can get dark, it's not going Bravely Default on our asses.

A YGO Isekai would be appropriate for the current Isekai boom were are in.
It would be so easy to sell as well. The protagonist and his friends are just average duelists sent to another world which is still playing Master Rules 1 and they are on that high IQ Master Rules 4 knowledge so they slowly introduce the different dueling types back into the series.

There is a god card in Zexal and it is the literal creator god of that universe.

Watching Vrains is like watching a bunch of NPCs doing their bare minimum to advance the plot. I don't like using this word, but the whole show feels souless as fuck.

I really hope the MC has an interesting deck. Judai and Yuma have been the best in that regard so far.

Anything will be better than VRAINS. VR as a genre is a dumb as fuck premise if shit like Gundam Builder Divers or even Ready Player One is something to go by. There’s so sense of tension when the basis of the show takes place in a location that literally doesn’t exist or matter. It doesn’t help that VRAINS has the most inorganic and boring cast we’ve seen to date. Yu-Gi-Oh has always been about over-the-top stories supplemented by equally ridiculous card games that are so stupid that they’re amazingly entertaining. When you take all of that out of the equation, you’re left with an empty husk card game commercial like 90% of other unprolific anime card game franchises that aren’t YGO or CFV.

The start of Zexal was awful but it kept getting better and better. Nearly ever episode was better than the previous and by the end it hit highs Yugioh hadn't before and hasn't since. It's my favorite.
