It's more boring than Ranma. Lum is cute, Ataru is an idiot.
Christian Moore
Quality is shit, story is sub-par

Xavier Thompson
One of my favorite anime series.
Wyatt James
It's comfy to fall asleep to and Lum a qt
Mason Morris
It's a fun little show.
Jackson Moore
This is supposed to be one of the greatest anime series of all time. Don't ask me why that is since I never watched this, to me it looks like the same generic romance crap that gets spammed today.
Ryan Reed
comfy to have on in the background

I watched the first couple episodes, but it didn't hook me. I would like to watch some of the movies though, because I like Oshii as a director. I've also heard good things about (I think it's called) Lum the Forever.
Anthony Morgan
quality improves once they get to full lenght eps somewhere 30 eps into the show
also, if you dont like the characters i doubt you'll enjoy the movie
Bentley Martin
I don't mind the characters
David Thompson
Personally I think Lum the Forever is the weakest of the UY movies. Felt like it tried way too hard to be deep and thought provoking, and just ended up being way too nonsensical. Maybe I'm just too stupid to understand it, I don't know. Music was great though.
Blake Peterson
Yeah I've heard it's pretty polarizing. Would like to see it for myself.
Brayden Sullivan
I think it's alright, but I do think at some point the director needed to realize that leaving out a chunk of the narrative isn't deep.
Caleb Brown
Manga is good, didn't see the anime yet

The series is great, especially when you get the the eps where Oshii and team hit their stride and began improvising vs slavishly following Takahashi. Highlights include "And then there were none", the "fast food wars" one, the weird one about Ataru's Mom, the Oshii finale where Ataru and the Stormtrooper rescue Lum from the Menou compound...
Some real heavyweight talent went into this stuff, like Screenwriter Kazunori Ito (Ghost in the Shell movie, Patlabor). The excellence of UY2 BD movie goes without saying.
Justin White
What I read out of it is Urusei Yatsura had a lot of awareness about its formulas and episodic patterns and Lum the Forever is about those. The narrative directly includes a part of Lum being subtracted that breaks a major character dynamic, Lum herself subtracted and things that just don't work or that other characters can't do anymore without her around, Sakura has that monologue about the loop they're all in that changes just enough each time around to keep going like this, and the title of the movie references that longevity. It's a Urusei Yatsura story about making Urusei Yatsura and the effort to do novel things with very established characters that will still be recognizable as themselves and satisfy an audience that came to see them.

I'll never forget streaming it with Yea Forums, good times.

i'm 4 episodes in and I have 2 things to say
1. That little cousin is shit and should die
2. Weird intro...
Ian Smith
God knows I tried.
But this particular brand of slapstick humor just isn't for me. And I'm too much of a completeness fetishist to skip to the best episodes and movies.

He might grow on you, I think the Ten focused episodes tend to be some of the funniest. He tends to get the shit beat out of him too.

I'd put 6 as a hard over 3 and move 2=3 but otherwise yeah so
6>3=2>1>4>>

i just love the animation of 3 thats all, maybe musically 6 is marginally better. As far as endings in concerned i would say
6>1>9>2>7>3>4>5>8
i don't know lol there's a lot of them
John Murphy
I love ataru's nasty personality, the episode where the tenchu bitch sends him to the nether realm was fucking hilarious. also love this dude
lol I watched this one the other day. I'm in the 30s and the quality jumps up a bit. there were way too many introductory episodes early on, the pace really dragged on for a bit.
it's almost like a japanese looney tunes sitcom, I love it
Carter Perez
It's definitely fun to watch, but it does lack consistent quality, and is probably not the style many plebs on here would enjoy. Still I'm in love with it probably because it's the first really long series I watched. And the first two movies are great, the rest not so much.
