A “worst self” sort of observer might make sense after IT being Touma’s ideal self, but I see more potential attaching that to a character in need of some angst, not someone like Accelerator who’s already had character development centered around that. Though if this sentient ability development is based on the power of wishes, twisted positive self-images would make more sense. It would be interesting to see Kamachi seriously address some of the ways in which Accel has been manipulated, and complement his thoughts at the end of Ichihanaransai nicely.

The closes thing that resembles to a sentient ability for Accel is Will herself. Without her calculation ability, Accel's personal reality would be useless no matter how great and unique it is.

She can telepathically communicate with him just like with 545. After Accel was able successfully come to her domain, she praised him and said that either of them can approach each other. It is hinting that she will finally materialize instead of possessing her units soon. I doubt that she was really referring to her physical units because Accel is already interacting with them on a daily basis.

Also, instead of calculator, Will is a telegraph machine because she talks like one.

You can boil down NT to "Touma will save the day" too if you really want after all.

This spinoff might have more than teasing, but using an established minor character other than a blank slate like Junko necessarily limits the story to his implied development prior to Battle Royale, right? That's actually not far off. Kakine sort of idolizes Accelerator but also hates him for not embracing his scuminess. Accelerator is Kakines reality check that things can get better and that people can find value in relationships after tragedies. His reasons maybe malicious but he truly does feel that there's a connection between him and Accelerator. Accelerator is the wall he has to surpass both physically and emotionally (which he almost did in NT6 but Mugino interfered)

Kakine is practically a shallow character without almost anything if we're exclusively counting OT15. NT6 had further hints with how Beetle relates to him and possibly his past personality, but nothing else. We don't know how long its set in the past or if its a full on origin story either.

This is the first spinoff where the MC is legitimately a bad guy if this is OT15 Kakine. This has the potential to be the best spinoff if done right.

True. Maybe the increasing number of science spinoffs is simply there to balance out the main LNs moving even more into magic and occult territory as we approach endgame stuff Kamachi might have had planned since before he even decided to make a science side.

Honestly I kind of wish that it is about Beetle to get the first NT spin off and plus I would like a spin off where we don't know what will happen to the character, it gives the story more suspense. But it looks like this will most likely take place pre OT 15.
