I don't know why it had to take so long to get to the things I really enjoyed about Hunter x Hunter.
I haven't read Yuyu Hakusho but I read somewhere that it was marketed in a way to draw people into reading the manga because of the cute comedy, then to progress fighting, character development later once there was an invested consumer base to support it.
I enjoyed thinking about big ideas while high on emotions and Hunter x Hunter allowed me to do that just with some start-up.
If I was a reader when this was a regular release I probably would've dropped it.
