Mikasa cannot move on from her childhood infatuation. Eren regards her somewhere between a Sister and close friend. Mikasa would intervene and attempt to break up any interaction Eren has with other women. Eren first has an interest in Anne because of her martial arts and forms a somewhat acrimonious friendship with her. Later he starts forming a more meaningful relationship with Historia and Mikasa rushes in to cockblock. Even Armin has interest and goals that don't involve Eren. Mikasa's single minded infatuation begins to frustrate him the older they get, she isn't growing as a person. The Ackerman genes only apply to when the host is in danger, hence why she smashed Armin into the table when he attacked. But this isn't an excuse for her conduct 99% of the time. Eren is trying to get her to move on and grow as a person.

Just binged this show to the beginning of season 3 and I'm having a hard time understanding what makes this show so great. All the characters are pretty one-note and bland except for when they swing from 0 to 100 and are needlessly melodramatic. Is it just not for me or is it another "it gets good later" scenario?
