Nah you nailed it. That and also the repetitiveness of things, like constantly repeating those flashbacks in episode 1, is why I thought the show was low quality. It's weird and offputting.

Yeah, sometimes is very slow and the action is very focused. I just watching it because looks good overall, but sometimes it's really boring.

If it wasn't for the storyboarding and directing, I wouldn't care at all about this show, even with its visuals.

GuP didn't get delayed because of some disaster though, unless you call the planning of the show a disaster which is fair enough.

When i heard about the kyoani fire i immediately thought that this would get delayed atleast and i thought more would get delayed aswel which i am suprised it hasn't.

It was shaping up to be one of my favorite shows this season before the delay. I'll still be interested in watching it if it returns.

The director is very inexperienced, that's what all of that stems from. I didn't find it bad in episode 1 but episode 2 was very awkward and choppy. Hopefully it improves as the show goes on.

So what is the status of the third episode? Are the nips over their kyoanus mourning. Honestly, not only was it the most cancerous studio in the industry it actually managed to kill the hype for one of the few shows I was hyped for this season. Fucking moeniggers, one fire was not enough.

pretty much the other way around. the pacing and timing creates a sense of cinematic atmosphere thats missing from the manga (very much like soul eater) along with the rich visuals its what makes the show work. maybe you are just used to generic anime and the way thats edited so this one feels weird to you by comparison.

Not really. I understand what you are trying to say with the cinematic atmosphere. The problem I am having is that the way the way they edited the scenes go feels like there purposefully do to little or do too much that it throws off the actual timing and makes certain scenes actually not work at all.

Just because it's different doesn't excuse it from being bad just because of how generic anime are edited.

This is typical Shaft style of framing. A lot of those working in this show are from Shaft so the framing is expected to be that way. It's not rich visuals. Even other Shaft works aren't this weirdly paced and timed.
