Quick question: Do people really care about reading Ultimate Muscle? Whenever I see a Kinnikuman thread get beyond 10 posts, I see people bemoan the fact that the UM manga isn't entirely up, even though I think it's the worst Yude work compared to old or even new Kinnikuman.
I don't. Only picked up the revival because I heard it was a direct continuation of the original story.
Kevin Hill
I figure if folks are wanting it to be digitally archived, then that pretty much answers your question about whether or not people care about reading it.
Personally speaking, I like it well enough despite it's many many flaws. It's the sequel tag series that drags on one tournament for fucking ever that I have no interest in reading.
Jason White
Yes, a lot of us care about it and read it, and try to get threads started.
Apparently it depends on the time of day when a thread is made when it takes off. Whenever I try to make one around this time of day it doesn't take off that well, but apparently whenever I go to sleep we might occasionally have a several hundred post thread which I miss entirely.
Eli Gonzalez
That one thread a while back is pretty much the only one I've ever seen hit 500 posts.
Colton King
when I was a kid I bought some knockoff Beyblades with Ultimate Muscle characters on them. I never realized it was a manga franchise until I saw it on Yea Forums
Robert Reed
That one was pretty special, although with 2011's next chapter being in august, it's gonna be a while before there's any new fuel.

It’s flawed at setting up side characters but it’s still entertaining. Art’s way better than the original series pre-revival and the fights are great.
i care about it never getting actual substancial development as a series of its own, Yudetamago went back to cashing on the OG cast for the Tag Team Hen when by all means they story had ended beautfully; then they went further by sacking Nisei and basically have ressurected the original series and keeps doing it to this very day.
No matter how much people like the OG cast, I will never aprove of this decision, sacking Nisei to ressurected a series that had ended 30 years ago.
Ayden Morgan
>Do people really care about reading Ultimate Muscle? In the mid 2000's Nisei was more popular internationally than Kinnikuma had ever been, most 25 year olds to 30 year olds westerners are likely to have followed the attempt to bring Nisei to the west than they have heard of the OG series.
Josiah Lewis
Not really a hiatus, thank god. Like I said, they usually have a break week every 2 chapters.
Although it's pretty hilarious that the only time kinnikuman's had a hiatus was after the step pyramid and then the end of the PO arc and those were only a few months.
Nicholas Foster
I mean, cashing on old shit because of nostalgia's never really innovative or needed, but you can't deny how much of a dumpster fire Nisei devolved into and how well Yude's handling continuing Kinnikuman beyond its original conclusion when compared to other transparent cash grab revivals like Dragon Ball Super.
Instead of blowing its load on lore like DBS did, it slowly expands on threads of lore from the old series while also making them relevant to the plot, like how the history of the creation of the Perfect Choujin shows why Budo's did what he did, and the retcons it does use aren't used for the sake of plot convenience.
Oliver Edwards
>but you can't deny how much of a dumpster fire Nisei devolved into I can and will deny it, the series was decent till Mantarou vs. Kevin Mask, the match was incredible and the fact Mantaro lost in the manga was a great way to develop his character from the loss he suffered when he tried so hard for the first time in his life, but no let's massacre all that and start the Tag Team Hen.
Mason Adams
Shit, I forgot there was the Ashura arc between Mantaro's loss and Tag Hen, but still yeah, my point stands.
Nisei had two series, one running a shounen mag, the other in a seinen mag, the seinen one is the one known as Ultimate Muscle and is the main one, Yudetamago tried to push a more sexuallly charged and violent angle with Nisei to justify its new demographic.
Liam Myers
Well I usually do include Ultimate Tag in with the original series when talking about it, which is why I say it did turn into a dumpster fire. Excluding UT, it's alright. Like you said, Kevin Mask vs Mantaro's pretty great, and the unique stuff it did like having different sets of HF graduates fight for the right to defend Japan was neat as well and pointing out how much Mantaro lived in his dad's shadow in his fight with Mars.
But then again, Nisei's side characters never really proved themselves or were as likeable as Kinnikuman's were and it never got an ending as conclusive as the one in Scramble For The Throne. Whether you include UT or not, Nisei just kinda ends and Mantaro never really matures as much as Suguru did.
Caleb Williams
I'm aware of that. Doesn't mean I can't poke fun at it.
>, Nisei's side characters never really proved themselves or were as likeable as Kinnikuman's were
IMO, the only wholly new character who had any potential was Checkmate and they fucked him over hard.
Cooper Murphy
>Nisei just kinda ends and Mantaro never really matures as much as Suguru did. That's exactly my gripes that makes me automatically be offput by the original series' ressurection though, Nisei is left in the dirty feeling incomplere while a series that ended 3 years ago gets new arcs because it is the safest way to keep working on Kinnikuman now.
Christian Lee
That is true, although part me hopes that one day maybe they'll take what they learn from doing 2011 Kinnikuman and try it with Nisei, giving more spotlight to the side characters and making their interactions with Mantaro a bit more meaningful.
UT, for all its faults, nearly did something like the latter when Mantaro insulted Seiuchin/Wally and made him tag with Neptuneman and when Terry The Kid tagged with Robin Mask which rattled Mantaro.
Nisei has its moments but so much of it drags so hard and at some points it's like they can only remember 3-4 characters at any given time and everyone else completely fades the fuck out, which was something that happened in the original series as well but at least that had the decency to not drag arcs too long.
Alexander Miller
I can't even find scans of Nisei or the time travel arc beyond the first volume or so.
Can't judge it since most isn't in English. Maybe if the translators ever got to it.
Last chapter I remember Mantaro's partner is trying to bitch out again and still hasn't fully manned up, while Mantaro is fighting Neptuneman in the starting fight to decide who the final teams will be.
Christopher Anderson
I only want to read Nisei because I wacthed Ultimate Muscle as a kid. I doubt it will be anywhere near as good as OG Kinnikuman and definitely won't be as good as the revival arc.
>a wrestling match where a texan with a prosthetic leg has to 1v2 hulk hogan and a weeaboo greek god while his partner, retarded alien jesus, runs out of the ring to search the entire globe in 3 minutes for a giant keyhole in the planet earth that he has to leap into in order to disable hulk's magnetic powers To be fair, could anything reach the pure insanity of OG Kinnikuman?
Jayden Rivera
Well, when you put it like that it does sound insane.
