What order do y'all watch Haruhi? Why?
What order do y'all watch Haruhi? Why?
Other urls found in this thread:
Release order. It's the only right order to watch anything.
Broadcast because that is the way, the truth and the power.
Fpbp, any other order is for rewatching.
That's how I've been watching it so far, and I plan to continue that way but I am curious about what the actual intention of scrambling it this way is. Like it almost feels like they made the episodes and then decided to release them in a random order (not that they actually did that). Only at the end of season 1 though, so maybe it makes more sense later.
chronological, because I'm not a tryhard
>Like it almost feels like they made the episodes and then decided to release them in a random order (not that they actually did that).
thats exactly what they did. haruhi was meant to be watched in chronological order, broadcast order is a gimmick
I can't believe there are people who actually believe this.
theres a reason season 2 aired in chronological order
What do you mean gimmick? Like just to draw attention to it by being weird?
I use an online dice roller to roll a d24 and go until i've watched them all
yes. it serves no purpose to the plot, it only serves the meta purpose of garnering discussion and attention
Original broadcast of season 1 has better pacing and ending. If you watch in chronological order, then there's a huge space of infodump episodes back-to-back, and the climax is in the middle of the show. Honestly I think people saying Haruhi was not as good as they remembered was due to the re-broadcast when it was shown in chronological order.
endless 8 on loop
LN order
reverse order beginning with endless eight
Why does anyone like Haruhi? Even as a product of its time, it was totally mediocre, it's not like the 2000s were lacking for good animu. I feel like I must have autism because nothing about it appeals to me.
How is this even a question? Broadcast order always, don't skip E8, whatever fucking order you want for rewatches
I'm literally only watching it cuz I heard the movie is so good lol
Haruhi S1 -> Haruhi-chan -> Churuya-san -> Haruhi S2 -> Movie -> Nagato-chan
The order was arranged to maximize hype and discussion, but also to pace the show in general. By the tail end of the LNs covered, every single arc is knee deep in crazy shit, so intersplicing it with more SoL eases the crazy pace. Also, Haruhi's character development is spread out across the episodes so that the most comprehensive reasons for the final episode happening are made clear, so you dont have to call back to way earlier episodes to understand what's going on. If the big kiss happened halfway through the season, why would anyone stick around to watch a fucking baseball game for the final episode? I appreciate what the broadcast order did, but I like to watch it chronologically when I go back.
Haruhi was based on a LN, so that's basically what happened. And you know what? It made the show absolutely amazing. You haven't tried watching Haruhi in chronological order, but it's shit. It blows its supernatural load in the first couple episodes before becoming SoL with a hyperactive girl. Playing with the chronology, supernatural and SoL episodes get interweaved, and you're never quite sure what's going on in your first watch through which makes it a very compelling first watch.
>very compelling first watch
doubt
Broadcast order FIRST then rewatch it in chronological order.
I watched it in chronological order and loved it. Then again, I also watched it dubbed and really enjoyed the Nagato spin-off, so chances are 90% of the people in this thread will just say my taste is shit.
>enjoying the Nagato spin off
user why
If you're a depressed 25 year old then sure. Very few cartoons are going to be compelling under those circumstances.
If you want the authentic experience you need to watch Endless Eight one episode a week for 8 weeks
the pacing argument is void after season 2, since the side stories lead into dissapearance
Release order because of the ending. If you watch it in release, it's the climax and the oh so awaited closure for the tension between kyon and haruhi; chrono, it's a fun episode 6 that you end up forgetting because the final episode is a fucking fart where nothing happens.
In fact I'm convinced every poster who claims to hate haruhi watched it in chronological order.
wrong, the new ending is dissapearance
I used to shitpost in 2007 about how release order was garbage and chronological was the only way to watch.
I start with season 3.
The ending of season 1, retard. Obviously the movie would come later, don't be daft.
>watching haruhi
I want to forget this even exists.
if you watch it chronologically, then it ends perfectly setting up the movie
Based, the only right way to watch the clusterfuck that's sighs
you're just mean
re-watching endless eight
>Y'all
Yikes
the conclusion of Endless Eight is a million times less satisfying unless you watch all of it, people who skip it are missing out.
create your own superpermutation of an order to watch haruhi, then proceed to watch in said order
refer to "The Haruhi Problem" for more info
fpbp
>user why
Because it was cute and she's best girl in all forms. Getting to see Asakura NOT being a psychopath is an extra bonus.
>S1 release order
>Movie
>Nyoron Churuya San
>Haruhi Chan
>Yuki Chan
>S1 and S2 Chronological order
>watching Dissaperance without watching Bamboo Leaf Rhapshody
Two reasons:
1) Because slipping Endless Eight into the middle of a non-linear series would cause even more butthurt than it did.
2) So they could downplay season 2 by claiming it just to be a chronological rearing of the existing episodes until everyone saw the timeslot scheduled for 28 episodes.
Your taste is beyond shit.
>skip endless eight
When you download a torrent with the filenames being just episode numbers and not the episode names, how the fuck are you supposed to know whether they are numbered in chronological or broadcast order? I ended up watching S1 in a totally wrong order because of this shit.
Taaakey
see
>mixture of .avi and .mkv
Never forget.
smug
This user gets it. The source material was released in chronological order, and that’s the way God intended us to experience it in moving picture form as well. Any other order is for plebs.
>The source material was released in chronological order
Book 3 and half of book 5 take place before before book 2.
this show was too cute, the manga ending was nice as well.
>The source material was released in chronological order
No it wasn’t, faggot. Not even close.
You’d need to watch endless eight before Disappearance if you want the LN order.
After I obviously meant.
Just rewatched the entire Haruhi series a few days ago. And this track made me break down into tears.
youtube.com
I don't even know if the people who composed it are alive anymore, the director certainly isn't.
FUCK OFF GIGGUK.
I cried my eyes out too but it was from watching Kanon
Watched it once in broadcast order. More than enough for me.
Disappearance is close to if not a masterpiece, but you will only like it if you are enjoying the rest of haruhi as well
Unironically wish I could have been there for this, the catharsis at the end must have been unparalleled
Is there any benefit at all in watching it out of chronological order?
Alphabetical
if you don't watch each episode 8 times in reverse before starting the next one you're a pleb
Ok, hear me out, first you watch the movie, then Disappearance of Yuki Nagato, then Endless Eight, then S1, then rest of S2.
Do you mean broadcast order? Then yeah, sure, broadcast order is how KyoAni intended you to experience the show.
The pacing is a lot better in the broadcast order. And not just for the climax.
It also makes you like Haruhi more since it puts her sympathetic episode before some of her more bitchy ones.
Normal way
In 2006
From 2009 onwards chronological is how the show was released and how they intended the full series to be watched. Sorry user, but we're in 2019, not 2006.
any order is fine
shut up
They fired one of the directors in between, that might have something to do with it.
Screenshot the entire show
all episodes, each image being each individual frame
mix them up
do the same for the audio
mix them up completely randomly and out of sync
it's best order don't argue I am a retard
