Oniisama e is gold
Though I love Rei (annnd Fukiko)

Versailles no Bara is better.

I like both a lot but Versailles is way better.

Nanako is love though.

Your opinion is justice.
Osamu Dezaki, director of the Versailles no Bara, has been the chief director since episode 19, and oversees Oniisama e.
Also, Ace wo nerae the Movie and Ace wo nerae2 is a Shoujo anime directed by Osamu Dezaki.
Effectively, using beautiful still images is the expression method of Osamu Dezaki.

Hello Takajiro-san

Who is Takajiro-san?
I am a beginner's japaneese-cherry (· ω ·)?

Can RoV and Oniisama even be compared? They’re so different from eachother.

They're both melodramatic 70s shojo shows. Same original author, same director.

OP is comparing them by blanketing the entire genre, so I don;t see why I can't.

I will not compare RoV and Oniisama e.
Both RoV and Oniisama e are based on the work drawn by Riyoko Ikeda, and both are involved in animation production by Osamu Dezaki.
Although Osamu Dezaki has already passed away, Riyoko Ikeda is still presenting RoV's new short comics.
The shock you receive for the first time when you encounter a great piece will weaken the impression of the piece you will meet later.
RoV, Oniisama e, it's just a matter of which one you met first.

I watched RoV before Oniisama e and I like the latter a lot more

RIP Dezaki.

Legendary.

I wonder how much of an overlap there is between those who prefer Oniisama e and those who watched it before RoV. I prefer RoV, but it's only a marginal preference since I think it's scope is more impressive.

What I meant by the fact that they're different is that they have totally different atmospheres. RoV is this swashbuckling historical epic, but Oniisama e is this strange mix between a comfy SoL and gothic horror. What I will say about Oniisama e over RoV is that the former is arguably the most well directed anime ever made. RoV is also a contender for that title, but the direction in every scene in Oniisama is beyond perfect.

How good is the Versailles no Bara manga? I know its impossible to be better than the anime since that was directed by Dezaki, but is it worth reading?

Honestly I would say the best directed series is Nobody's Boy Remi.

Have you seen that? It's also Dezaki, if you haven't you should watch it ASAP.

It's more or less equally as good as the anime. Both are 100% worth it.

Remi drags on for a bit too long and can be a bit repetitive in it's structure and direction. It's definitely one of Dezaki's more underrated works though.

It actually is better. Visually Berubara is one of Dezaki's most boring works so it's not that surprising

Does the lesbian die in this show?

My favorite is Takarajima, but Remi is one of his best for sure.

>Visually BeruBara is one of Dezaki's most boring works

Why would you say this when it has far more going on visually than Ace wo Nerae and AnJ's first season? BeruBara is where Dezaki set his style in stone, so it's arguably his most important work.

She wasn't a lesbian but yes.

My favorite is Versailles, but I think Remi was directed best.

Dezaki was a godly director though.

Have you seen Ace wo nerae (Aim for Ace)?
This work is also very famous as Shoujo anime, and is an animation based on tennis with elements common to RoV and Oniisamae.
It is an animation depicting youth and work in sports and competition that incorporates love and tragedy.
The beauty of the film will be on par with RoV and Oniisama e, as directed by Osamu Dezaki from the 1979 movie version.

I miss him so much, bros

I found parts of the plot in Oniisama E a bit too convoluted in comparison to ROV, which I prefer overall by a bit. In terms of visual presentation ( mostly due to Dezaki's sense of shot composition and Sugino's character design) I actually legitimately find Oniisama E to be the most pleasing out of all the TV anime that I've seen. It helps that the OST is so atmospheric as well.

Oniisama has the 70s character designs but it also has 80s production values. It looks fucking great.
