For those of you who haven't read the VN, the final segment in Sakaimachi before Takuya goes to Dela Grante is a lot more suspenseful in the VN. In the VN, the reason Takuya doesn't just go to his dad's study in the very beginning as soon as the letter and Reflector show up at his house is because the study is locked and the key is missing. If he doesn't find the key on the first night of the loop, then everything in the study gets taken by Ryuuzouji early on the next day. That's why when you finally gain access to the study, read his dad's complete memo, and look for the final Jewel, it feels incredibly climactic. Well, at least until you have to try and solve the damn clock puzzle...

that prick solved the grandfather puzzle in two seconds, it took me hoursuntil I looked at a walkthrough
the setup for the dead end with Kanna if you don't have the crystal was good in the anime, but perhaps it would have been better if it happened earlier? In the game you are supposed to realize that you need to go find the crystal in other timelines, before returning and saving her, which is what unlocks the other world.
I dunno, game takuya had no problem with banging kanna, pretty sure. Also I think the reporter was supposed to be involved with the private detective.

The VN seemed to suggest that the Hypersense Stones are an important commodity in Dela Grante. Takuya notes when he is at the prison that the "Holy Stones" that the prisoners have been assigned to dig up are not very common. He also narrates that the prison warden told him that a large number of "Holy Stones" is needed to make a perfect casket for the Priestess. The difficulty in obtaining large numbers of Hypersense Stones at the prison contrasts with the large quantity of Hypersense Stones at the bottom of Triangle Mountain. This is why I guessed that Triangle Mountain was originally a storage facility for the stones before Dela Grante crashed into Earth.

Have you never played an adventure game before? You walk around until an event triggers and then click all over the screen and walk around some more until another event triggers. For better or for worse, that's how all of the old ones tended to work. There are some parts of YU-NO that are legitimately hard with no tips, like the sarcophagus puzzle or the puzzle guarding the final Jewel, but everything else is fairly straightforward if you've played even a single one of the old Lucasarts titles.

Looking at these screenshots, though, it looks awful. The art in the remake was already fucking dreadful and this looks like more of the same.
