If your mother is accused of rape but there is no evidence, should you presume her to be innocent or should you remain neutral?
- to presume her innocence you must tell people "My mother did NOT rape and murder a young girl in 1990."
- to remain neutral, you must have no opinion on whether your mother allegedly skinned and deboned that 8-year-old then fuck the muscular bone-voids of her limbs with a swollen, hyena-like clitoris.
I think nobody disagrees which one is a good idea for the judge inhabit once her hot air balloon inevitably lands so those helicopters can catch her, but should we also presume innocence when the rest of us talks about the accusation while we wait for news? They didn't arrest you, after all, so you're still free to comment on the news articles about the international spree-chase on the internet, although people on Yea Forums might not believe that you're really her son. I can't say. In this hypothetical, is my mother someone who I know would be capable of such things? True, you can never really know someone, but if she literally raises you I'd find it hard that you wouldn't be able to tell if she could debone and fuck a 8 year old.

As we say in my country, blood is thicker than water. I would defend my family members no matter if they did it or not and also fully support them in evading justice if it becomes necessary. The only exception _might_ be if it's not about a past crime but a very serious planned one in the future.

And let's say you also defended her online, so on Facebook you make sure that all your other relatives know that "my mother definitely DID NOT do that to those children!", and your Rubicon is drawn.
