VEG. It was nice and big and everyone had massive expectations, and then it flopped.

Holy shit

I know the director controversy, but such spike in the negative ratings must have some specific reason, right?
What happened?

Most Gonzo adaptations in early to mid 00's.

I never really understood what happened either.

>first episodes of both seasons have roughly the same rating
People were willing to give it the benefit of doubt even after the Kadokawa disaster.

HxH has a boat. All we need is to wait for it.

They retconned the first season and announced that everyone died off camera.

give me a quick rundown on this basic gestalt

Night on the Galactic Railroad
:3

Season one ended with everyone coming together to defeat the boston dynamics cerulean, and then they secretly rebuild the Japari Bus into a boat so that everyone can go to the next island and meet new friends and have fun.

Season two announced that the island was full of monsters and everyone died, especially the new character Tatsuki created for season one. Then she came back to life so that she could meet everyone again and they could tell her they hate her.

Tokyo Magnitude 8.0

No, it's even worse than that. The events of the first season happened but Kaban chose to avoid Serval because reasons.
Also season 2 was the definition of soulless money grabbing, it had none of the charm or intrigue of the original and the story was completely pointless.

You asking for trainwrecks? Well, more like shipwrecks. Entirely avoidable shipwrecks.

Nice boat

The only good answer ITT.

Second season basically not only lost the magic of the first season and was a direct downgrade on all fronts, but went out of its way to shit on S1 characters at various points. And after the show ended they revealed some more lore that was just outright spiteful.

But why.

Even without the director controversy it would take a couple posts to go over everything so here are the briefest highlights for just what specifically caused the biggest shitstorms during the airing.
>Confirmed direct continuation of S1 but timeskipped to later, which nobody wanted.
>Serval no longer remdmbers Kaban so their friendship from S1 is broken apart, but Kaban remembers.
>Domesticated dog friend is lonely as fuck for humans and after finally finding one and getting beat up trying to protect her, she gets told to fuck off and that she's useless. The show at multiple times after cuts back to her being all alone for no reason in episodes after that.
>Bossu is treated as an object instead of a character. He does nothing relevant and Kaban has an entire drawer full of lucky beast watches like him.
>Tiger Beast helps out at the end but dies by rubble collapsing on her from above despite her standing on the roof. Nobody gives a fuck and decide to hold a concert to celebrate their victory right on the spot she's buried under.

But the thing that generated so much hate for the final episode was:
>Day is saved. Kaban makes a comment to Serval about how they were in the past. Serval proceeds to fuck off because she's Kyururu's friend now. Kaban is crying and the happy S1 theme is playing. Later dog friend finds an old picture from the original park showing kyururu was friends with the original serval before the disaster. The end.

Fuck you Mine and Kimuta. That was one of the most spiteful gut punches to the fans I've ever seen. There was a bunch of other stuff, especially outside the show, but those were the key points for why the ratings suddenly started dropping off.

I'm still fucking mad

Koroko Connect. The show was popular, it was on track to being the best seller of the season, and then the VA prank publicity stunt happened. Preorders died overnight and never recovered.

I don't think anyone but discordfags could be reminded of S2 and not be mad.

Boing Boing Paradise aka PuroTen

Kanojo ga Flag. It's such a shame since the girls were pretty cute.

Gal Clea

MHA. It's gonna hit the iceberg fairly soon when S4 airs.

Was that the thing with the guy who can see literal relationship flags that went completely out to left field suddenly with supernatural shit?

>Kadokawa premiered it in the same season as Kemurikusa to spite Tatsuki

yes, with the last episode suddenly having the mc in virtual reality protecting a European country's digital economy by fighting viruses represented as angels. Then the harem go in too and they all get fantasy rpg style avatars too.

Even with zero context or knowledge of this series this sounds fucking awful.

>Kokoro Connect
man, to this day I can't explain why did they thought it was funny or even a good idea in the first place

What are you talking about it. Lots of people liked it and people like you are still talking about it. I don't see as many Bunny girl senpai lovers and haters on this sub; everybody's forgotten about that, despite it being a complete disaster of an anime. This one is still being talked about, even if, on this boad, mostly negatively.

is this real? I didn't watch Kemono Friends, but holy shit

Ah, I didn't see the anime. I read part the manga and dropped it when it suddenly took a left turn and started with some nonsense where his power to crush flags defies gods plan and he can use it to time travel or some shit like that. It was so long ago I don't even remember what exactly happened, just that it was really stupid.

>This sub

user, we don't have sub-reddits here on 4channel.

Those are just the briefest of highlights and ignores a bunch of little things that the show fucked up. It also doesn't even get into the shit that started the whole mess with the S1 director being fired, the bullshit happening behind the scenes or outside the show, and the lore dump at the art show that ruined the franchise for the fans even more As a taste of the lore dump, the new MC was confirmed to be a boy and it was implied that he's going to repopulate humans by fucking the friends because fuck you that's why. They were really fucking determined the crash and burn the franchise into returning to the state it was in before S1 aired.

Big Order.

>zero context or knowledge of this series
based summerfriend

Looks like we have a winner, talk about a fall from grace from being one of the most profitable series's into basically nothing in the span of a year.

Iirc sales were so bad it barely even ranked on Oricon and they put a ban on reporting sales figures to them after the first disc out of embarrassment.

Why the fuck would some execs not put their fists down and insist on maximizing profit? Seems like such a waste from a business perspective.

It's not anime, but in 7 seeds manga there was a very interesting arc about the wrecked ship. It had a very similar mood to Titanic, actually it was even better. Doesn't matter that the manga is shoujo, that shit was more intense than 99% of shounen.

they're all disasters user

I’m still angry about the anime.

>kyoani gut burned and not these scum
There is no god.

The anime is absolute shit, Netflix ruined another one. It seems they had zero budget in the last episodes. That was painful to watch. This manga deserves much more.

What prank?
