How could they be so evil to her, do they lack morals and ethics?

They are children, they are literally amoral and unethical.

Kids in Japan must be fucked up

We evolved to work together, sympathy for a fellow human being should overcome their lack of character no?

There are fucked up kids everywhere. Anyways, it's only a movie.

A few of them didn't give a shit regardless of character.

Bullying the innocent must be punished by a iron handed approach

Hold my beer.

I like the fact that the assholes were portrayed evenly in this.
If this were a western movie or TV show, the bullies would just be standard assholes who are basically just evil, but in this you see other than Ishida, everyone was nice to her at first, but the inconvenience of her existence eventually got everyone to resent her and the mob mentality escalated things until there were consequences.
It's not Shoko's fault she's inconvenient, but it's also not the kid's fault for not knowing what to do with their frustration. The Teacher was a completely irredeemable fuckwit though. He was exactly the same as the kids and didn't see anything wrong with his handling of things.

Ignorance is not the same as innocence.
Shoko coming to their class made everyone's lives worse. She didn't do it maliciously, but it was intentional. She and her mother wanted her to be in a normal school.
The class is not innocent either. They made the decisions that led them to be terrible, but it's unquestionable that they wouldn't have had to deal with all of it if Shoko, her mother or the teachers knew better and sent her to special school from the get go.

Are there special schools/classes for the disable in japan?
I know their culture is harsh when it comes to them.

based

Fuck off.

Of course there are, the default response of the japanese with the disabled is to put them away somewhere, so special needs schools fit right in with that.
Honestly it's the west with freedom of expression and shit that's less inclined to use special schools. I think everyone in america had at least half a dozen dangerously autistic kids in their school. One of mine had a handler.
I don't get the logic behind that. you're paying someone to take care of them already, so why are you making us spend time with him, is this a punishment for the normal kids?

wow you sound just like the kids in the manga

He's absolutely right though.

Yeah I have no illusions i'm a good person.
I didn't have the balls or social standing to pick on anyone in school, but I wasn't some cool guy hero stepping in to stop the bullying like in the movies.
I just didn't get involved when I saw it.

This film made my birthday a little less depressing and I'm thankful for that

How depressing was your birthday that a movie with 2 suicide attempts was uplifting?

>i bullied a disabled kid and people called me out on it now I'M THE VICTIM
I don't understand how such drivel is so highly praised.

You didn't understand the movie.

KID CAN BE CRUEL JACK

She deserved it.

>Ignorance is not the same as innocence.
Cause and Effect is not the same as Fault.
Try as you might to justify it you don't get to torture people that annoy you until they just go away like you want them to.

Did you just read the first line and respond reactively to in in anger?

The entire post is 'she was there so it happened' and the ludicrous nature of what you're saying seems to be so utterly lost on you that you think I would have to zero in on a part of your post when they whole thing is insane.

Kids an absolutely be evil, but this movie simply portrayed them as overly horrible demons to further the melodramaticism in the plot.

>been meaning to watch this for 2 years or so now
>never gotten around to it because I can't be fucked watching something for 2 hours straight unless it's in a theater
help

Why are Japanese teachers always portrait like this? Are they really like this?

I feel you, I know I'll have to watch it eventually, looks like something up my alley and I've been saving it, but it's gonna absolutely destroy me.

Why do people try so hard to justify bullying innocent people?

Did you miss the part where it was a response to "This angel who dindu nothin was hurt so these other children deserve corporal punishment"?

it's the opposite for me, theaters fucking suck with all the people around doing people things

FFFFFFIIIIIIIIIIRRRRRRRRRREEEEEEEEEE

Because some people don't only have the perspective of the bully.
Also because punishing a bully makes you a bully as well as if that wasn't the point of the whole fuckign story.

Because there'd be no story if all the teachers did a good job and there was no drama.

So did they have chex?

Ishida was raised by a single mom and fits the school shooter profile almost exactly.

>throws special needs kid in non special needs school
What were they thinking?

>Having a deaf kid sing in a choir
Couldn’t they just have her play castanets or tambourine?
Do deaf people have a sense of rhythm?

Oh yeah, he was 99% of the way to being a school shooter. He had the victim complex and the death wish, he just didn't have enough hate in him for it.
All it would have taken was a spark of inspiration of "Maybe i should kill all my classmates who got away with it too" and he would have been there.

I preferred the manga, you could read that instead if its easier for you.

Her mom thought if Shoko was never baptized by fire as a kid she'd live in self imposed isolation for the rest of her life, too dependent on others and afraid to live normally.

Well I guess it completely backfired cause shes a fumb fucking bitch.

She didn't really complain to the school until the hearing aids cost her serious money. It's not really backfiring before that if her intent was to make her go through these sorts of things when she could still force her to go out into the normal world as her mother.
If anything in the end she succeeds since Shoko is going off to a normal college to get a normal job.

Shoko tried to kill herself. If she went to a special needs school then she would have managed to make friends more easily and adapt to the regular world better

I considered her suicide attempt but Ishida really is a piece of shit and an outlier and I don't think it would have happened without him.
An entire childhood spent institutionalized does not prepare you for the real world. It does the opposite.

Never ever

A special needs school for the deaf isn't like a crazy house. It's a regular school that takes the deafness into account and prepares the children on how to operate in the regular world despite being deaf

The suicide had nearly nothing to do with Ishida.
Shoko felt guilty for existing and causing the not very innocent normal kids trouble. Ishida had it the toughest from her perspective, but that piece of shit teacher would have scapegoated someone else if Ishida wasn't there.
The fact that she felt this way despite Ishida being such an irredeemable asshole meant she was stuffed so far down the self pity well she was going to kill herself eventually no matter what happened.

I watched this on itunes last night. Very well animated and directed.
I saw too much of myself in the male protag. As an awkward kid coming up to highschool, I tried to fit in first by being the class clown, then when I couldn't keep that pretence up I decided what I needed to do to be get friends was to bully weaker, nerdy kids. I remember telling one bespectacled kid that I was going to make his life a living hell.
Of course, it all backfired. I wasn't able to keep up the pretence and I spent all of the rest of my school days isolated from everyone else.
Then when I left school I became a hikki for 7 years. It's only during the last 4 years that I've managed to make even a dent in the damage I did to my ability to talk with people and see them as potential friends instead of as threats.

I know what it's like in the states. One of my best friends and his older sister both learned ASL and volunteered in one. I don't think the Japanese one's are the same sort of animal.
Just let me be clear I don't agree with what Shoko's mother did beyond not putting her in a box. I just said it worked out for her.
It had everything to do with Ishida and you can see that illustrated quite clearly by how she's the one that feels guilty for him.

NIGGGAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

>you can see that illustrated quite clearly by how she's the one that feels guilty for him.
And i'm saying Ishida gave her less reason to feel that way than almost any other human would have.
He lashed out at her pity and fucking fought her for it. A normal healthy girl would have decided "stuff him" long ago, but she was stuck in her little mental loop of pity and self pity.
The problem with suicide is internal, she had a mindset that needed to be fixed and the trial by fire thing was absolutely not the way for her.
It works for some, but for others it's just motivation to do it.

I want to have chex with Shouko

>And i'm saying Ishida gave her less reason to feel that way than almost any other human would have.
I think that ignores the formative experience during elementary school and how that set them both on their suicidal trajectory. Unless you think his actions in the beginning weren't outliers and exceptionally awful then we just kind of have nothing to talk about besides that since it's a pretty binary disagreement.

Forced kyoanus drama. Children don't act like that in real life.

>Forced kyoanus drama
Retard.

I want to have kix with sho-chan

No i'm talking about his actions in the beginning, after the bullying on Ishida started, Shoko did that cleaning the standard anime desk bullying thing, and tried to reach out to him and he responded with anger every time and eventually he got into a proper fight with her over it.
She pitied him and he hated her for it. I'm saying if that didn't stop her from feeling bad for him, put any other human in Ishida's position and she still would have been suicidal over it. She was doomed because she felt too personally responsible for everything that happened. Ishida's assholery should have been the best thing to turn that self blame into blaming the bully like any normal person would, but she didn't.
I think about the only thing Ishida did uniquely that contributed to her wanting to kill herself so soon at least was getting her in contact with her old classmates and reopening that self blame wound. Shit's ironic that only after he started trying to be decent did he start actually doing damage.

My sister is an austist wrangler at an American public school and it would amaze you how violent a kid has to get before they will remove them from the building. She had one who would masturbate in the middle of the classroom, kick, punch, bite, etc. and all she could do was move him to a padded closet. Like she would be covered in injuries constantly and we’re talking about someone who is 6’4” 240lbs of muscle. It wasn’t until he mike tyson’d a chunk of her ear off that they finally removed him from the building.

>someone who is 6’4” 240lbs of muscle
Your sister or the autist?

My sister. Austist was only like 5’8” and maybe 150.

How tall are the males in your family?
Also is this sister of yours single and of childbearing age?
I'm asking for a friend

Oi oi, you sure she's not your brother? Haha just messing with user.

I come from a family of y’all muscular giants. That midwestern farm life is going to do that to you, user just smog to like rural Wisconsin and find a wife there. My grandfather’s third wife still wrestles pigs in her 60s and her homemade butter is to die for.

This is an ongoing joke in our household the last stranger to make this to her face got three of his fingers broken.

Just a little banter, don't have a habit of walking to my funeral.

hello yes I want your sister's phone number so I can spawn large offspring

didn't read this brick wall of text so I'm just gonna assume what you're saying is right so, based.

>screams in her ear
Yeah what if she went deaf?
Idiot.

>when you remember reading the original oneshot with/a/ and at the time already had other shows to feel bad about because they aired years ago

I would just not clean the desk everyday

I never would have started because I never would have considered it my fault he was being bullied.
Also I would have hated him the first time he bullied me because I was a bitter little bitch.

Should have given her earlobe a little lick instead.

I've seen worse.

I just want to bully her so badly.

Man, this movie destroyed me, I need to know if they become a couple or not.

Having breakfast with Shouko!

But they're 12, that's not really kid territory anymore. You should have at least basic empathy at that age

Why was her voice actor so shit? I couldn't make out a word she was saying

They are humans, they are literally amoral and unethical.

I don't now man. Mob mentality + children = pure evil.

Children, specially little boys, are fucking disgusting little pricks, in the other hand qt little girls are good

Civility is a learned behavior.

This.

>can't hear the fire alarm
Not gonna make it.
