Sometimes people use the word wrong but everything officially published by the owners of the rights is by definition canon, they may be part of a different continuity if the events don't match with the already established setting and plot like it happens often in bigger franchises or in Nanoha with installments like Innocent or the movies, but in the case of A la Carte this manga was based on the original Nanoha continuity and desn't seem to progress any kind of overarching plot, we can maybe claim that they're part of a mall branching canon but as long as they don't contradict anything that was released after them I don't think we can make a case for that claim.

That's stretching it a bit, considering anthologies are more or less "for fun" fanworks that happened to receive some official recognition. As far as any of the main official continuities go I'd say it's fairly dubious to place anything in any of them into what'd be considered canonical, even if it's not contradictory. Tsuzuki has a pretty tight writing grip on everything else Nanoha after all, down to it being him that writes a bunch of the gag stuff, which does wind up as canon in some form or alternate continuity as a result. Vivid Life is especially notable on this front.

Also both A la Care and Vivid Life are based on the original continuity, and if anything A la Carte is more consistent with the original continuity if you want to make the argument that you need to take Life's gags as literal events.

Not necessarily, a bunch of official works for other series have specific disclaimers saying "this is not canon even though it's based on the original work" which could be taken as "this is its own timeline" if you really wanted to complicate things, but like you said, no one put that much thought into any of this. If anything you could say that each individual anthology chapter is its own timeline but that's really getting silly. I do like that they build further on the characters but at the same time I wouldn't take what applies in an anthology chapter and apply it back to any of the primary continuities as some sort of proven fact, which is the important end of this discussion.

Watch StrikerS. It starts off slow, but by the end I personally consider it to be quite good. But again, you can disregard even my own opinion. You should give it a try either way. If you truly did love the originals, I believe you'll find something to like about StrikerS as well, it carries the same spirit even with the time skip.
Reflection and Detonation also exist and feature the loli cast post-A's, but you should probably save them for after StrikerS because they'd set up some weird expectations otherwise and don't actually lead into anything yet.

The Movie 1st is a remake of the first season with much better action sequences but a lot of the background information and exposition removed (however it sheds further light on Fate's backstory which is otherwise only available in Season 1 side materials). The Movie 2nd is a remake of A's where the action budget is pumped up, but a lot of the plot is removed and some things no longer make sense as a result. They're something to watch later on whenever you're bored and have already seen more Nanoha and want to see a budget bumped version of the original two seasons. They came out years down the line.
StrikerS is where you should go next after A's, as it's the followup series in release order. After StrikerS you have a couple of options as to what to do next. You could watch Reflection and Detonation if you want more loli Nanoha action, or you could move onto Nanoha Vivid if you want the next thing after StrikerS (Note: Vivid's anime adaptation stops short and you'll pretty much be required to read the manga afterwards. If doing that isn't up your alley that's fine, go watch Reflection and Detonation instead at that point.)
The PSP games are indeed translated and Ref/Det are (very) loosely based on the second game. The first game plays somewhat clunkily, the second is better in most every way. They could theoretically be played after you finish A's, but there are numerous references to later Nanoha series in them that will fall on deaf ears if you're not familiar.
The short of it is, tuck the movies away for now, watch StrikerS after A's.

It's pretty much established that Reflectination isn't part of the main continuity. There are too many discrepancies. In addition to nobody ever talking about Nanoha's cybernetic body parts, it's odd that she then participates at all in sporting events like the match against Vivio when they've repeatedly brought up how the Numbers aren't allowed to do that since they're cyborgs. Then there's the awkward absence of both Nanoha's Formula Cannon and all the Force weapons that everybody else was testing. It's pretty much impossible to fit the story in without a bunch of delusional hand-waving.

Tho force weapons could make sense - they were emergency stopgap brought from the lab despite not being ready. Makes sense to stash them again after field testing that likely shown many problems and only allow them out after many redesigns when another calamity that requires them comes.
The technology captured with the mad scientist/fucker also plays nice with Force, since it would take a while for it to be adapted and polished. Something like it taking time for the US and Mordor to make their own rockets after capturing german V-2s and IP/blueprints.
As for Nanoha, well the Vivio match is not a sporting event, it is a display for public, something like an Air Show with military stuff. It is only a stunt and wouldn't be done if they didn't explicitly want it.
The cyborg arm thing is still dubious anyway tho.

There is also the thing in Reflactation that the weapons seem to be firing the usual fluffy pink magic, not potentially lethal mass-having projectiles. Or the equivalent, it is not completely clear how the canon works in Force IIRC, or Fate's weapon - it is implied it emulates a mass-based weapon with an effect of Mid magic.
These are mostly minor things that often happen, I mean, there is lots of slight discontinuities between S1/S2/S3 too.

Ref and Det have commentary tracks like the first two do that imply this still, but it feels more like a bone thrown towards people who like the original continuity at this point than what they're going to stick with since Force is in limbo forever. Hell, the first movie's commentary track has them talking about the original TV series as if it was fictional too, and Movie 2nd's track doesn't do that and properly treats it as if it's an inaccurate adaptation of real events. Actually, if you remember that Reflection and Detonation still adapt GoD (although plot was well expanded and changed for better IMHO), we really hadn't have a completely original plot since SSX, Vivid and Force.
So doing a totally new story would be a radical change at this point. I don't really want StrikerS recap I think, I like the series as it is so a new content or Force which lacks end would be better too.

Still, given how potentially troublesome original-style materials are (they are kind of needy for spotlight, so even more risk of NFH getting sidelined - see Innocent), I think the way Detonation subtly dialed them back with their pet genesis was almost genius. When they appeared in Reflection it seemed forced and not fitting with the main plot which was Eltria, unlike in GoD where it felt like MacGuffin. But Detonation managed to integrate them nicely somehow, which was great.

Their portrayal from R to D doesn't match up though. That's part of the issue. The other issue is character bloat. You had the sister, Iris, Yuri, and the Materials, not to mention the last minute true villain. Too many characters. StrikerS had this issue too but it also had 2 cours to tell its story with all its characters. This was only two movies. Not enough time for all the plot.
I was really hyped for Reflection when it was first announced, but I can't help feeling disappointed at it not being as good as I thought it would be. I guess all the years of development hell fucked it up. I wonder what the original plan was.

R&D are new movies, they tried to condense a season's worth of material to two movies when we didn't see the actual season's worth. The tournament storyline ends shortly after where the anime left off and the focus changes elsewhere after that, actually. There's a little more to her than that. Nanoha has low self-esteem and so fights with little regard for her own body or safety, she is statistically weaker than Fate and I think even Chrono in S1 but could beat either, and her crowning achievement (starlight breaker) is a move that collects the power scattered around by her and her opponent fighting rather than using her own magical strength.

I think it would make sense to revisit that loneliness and low self esteem in another adaptation, preferably when she's adult/some point before or after StrikerS. It might be cliche, but being the big damn hero of your universe has to be unbelievably stressful (at least that's how I see it). I could easily see someone developing a hero complex or some other shit because of it. You could even tie heroic bsod into that and have her and Fate fight for fan service because of it.

It isn't just that her fighting style is self-destructive, and magical capacity or ranking has never been what you should pay attention to when gauging how powerful someone in the Nanoha-verse is (IIRC, one of the top TSAB magicians beat both Nanoha and Fate despite being ranked for B-tier magic capacity back when they were initially joining the bureau). It's her technical ability and drive to innovate that she built up that really makes her so fearsome. That also came out as a result of how much self disregard she has, as it required a training regimen every day (up until she got an incredibly rude awakening after A's that if she kept it up that would be the end of her) that worked her mental and physical capacities to their limits (and was noted that it would have destroyed almost anyone else who would have even tried it just to keep up the training and magical drain the way she was doing things), but it's not just as simple as being willing to throw her life away in battle. It's dedication to wanting to help others so badly that her entire life began to revolve around figuring out new ways to do it.
Even though it paid off, as an adult she realizes that others should NOT do things the way she did, and teaches accordingly. She makes sure that Vivio doesn't overexert herself, and gave Teana her own wakeup call before it was too late for her, too.

They would only turn into the skates when she needed fast road-motion, because obviously in closed quarters or in a stationary fight they make little sense (the way Nove hopped on them when fighting with Einhart, kek).
Since devices can be upgraded and rebuilt, this wouldn't even be a hard change to justify.

I think it's been a lot fewer than people realize. I suspect that most people just assume that everyone else is already reporting him so they shouldn't bother which results in only 1 or 2 people actually doing it. This was the first time I've seen a group agreeing to report together in like 2 years and it immediately worked just like it always did back then when we were doing the same. You may be right about it being a fluke, but I think it's worth trying again next time he comes back.
