This looks like the final battle now that all the Sins are gathered to face the DK. I'm a bit surprised to be honest. I expected Diane to get a buff to match King and for Escanor to get a flashback. Then again it does match the "ending in roughly 1 year" estimate made last August and the "about 40 volumes" claim made years ago since this chapter completes vol 38. 9 chapters for the final boss fight I suppose, 18 if there's going to be something else as well.

My Problem with NnT is, it became too Dragonball after Hendricksen and I don't necessarily mean the powerlevel measurement.
It became too much of a racing who gets the most strength the fastest way with barely any development in between.
Nakaba wrote good character interactions and breather in between which I started to miss after a while.
Also Merlin was a mistake.

Powercreep and the weird bait and switch with the DK. The first arc starts with Mel and Elizabeth heading out and ends with the kingdom being liberated. The arc feels like a whole story even by itself. The 2nd arc(at least how I interpret it) starts with the Commandments appearing and ends with most of them being defeated or switching sides. Unlike the first arc there are some things left unresolved even though the focus clearly shifts after this. The third arc starts with background for the holy war, then Mel turns evil and another holy war starts which eventually builds up to the return of the DK, who is then easily defeated, essentially ending the long arc with an anti-climax. Then it turns out that it was actually a fakeout and he comes back but a lot of people don't really care anymore. I doesn't help that Nakaba doesn't really bother developing the Sins anymore so it's obvious that he's just going through the motions now.

I wonder if Nakaba is still planning the sequel and saving Arthur and the SD for that or if that's all going to be somehow resolved by the end of NnT. If there is a sequel I hope Nakaba tackles it differently from this series to avoid some of the same flaws.

There was an ending & epilogue sequence that everyone felt was unsatisfying which turned out to be a bait and switch and not actually the real ending, but for some reason the autistic retards on this board are still mad about it

I don't think people being mad is the only issue. The problem is that there was a flashback introducing the first holy war, then some setup to lay the foundations for another war and then something like 60 chapters worth of fighting. All of that was to build up tension for the climax which ended up being disappointing. Then the DK comes back again but this time it happens without a year's worth of buildup so it doesn't have the same sense of weight behind it. I still find the series enjoyable but it's not as interesting as before. It kind of seems like Nakaba is just going through the motions to wrap everything up.

They weren't introduced too late, Nakaba just didn't bother giving them the same kind of treatment. Ban, King, Diane and Gowther all got side-stories dedicated to them while Mel is the MC whose character and backstory is integral to the plot. Merlin only ever got a short explanation of her origins as the genius kid with broken magic power who tricked the gods to the point that they nuked her hometown. Escanor got even less than that, only a short flashback of him escaping his kingdom and then running into Mel and Merlin. There is still a chance that this might be remedied seeing how Escanor is being set up for a big moment and potentially a death scene. Merlin on the other hand will obviously get a fairly large role in the Arthur sequel if that ends up happening.

It was basically the same kind of trickery that Merlin pulled on the gods but you wouldn't call Merlin a godlike force.
