I use acetone for light clean up after painting kits.

Don't be so reliant on amiami, you can check the other shops in the guide in case he sells out by the time your debit card is sent you, which should just take about a week. There will be some copies left upon release too, but possibly at a smaller discount.

There are some places in my area that sell "retro" video games to retards that pay $100 for a NES game even though flash carts are a thing. For whatever reason both the shops in my area also carry anime figures. They have lame shit like DBZ figures and nendos from crap like Avengers and Overwatch. All of it is overpriced and judging by the packaging I'm sure they're bootlegs, too.

Seems like most brick and mortar places are storefronts in addition to online distributors. In essence, if you're gonna rent warehouse space and packing/distribution space, might aswell have a storefront attached to it if you can get it, but on its own it's too niche.

I imagine especially starting out the long lead times make it difficult to turn a profit anytime soon, since most of your actual sales will take almost a year.

Yep, you're basically right. They were only open Fri-Sun basically, and that was really for our local scene to play. They did make some sales and such, but they made more for snacks and soda than they did from anime sales. They had to do the circuit so often that they had to decline some of our sets from time to time, but it's okay. Stores are fun, but the prices were not. And they seem to be doing fine now online, and do so them from time to time in some of the regional conventions we overlap at.

I can imagine it would require a lot of start-up capital and a very generous bank.
And the owner will be operating some 60-80hrs a week for a good length of time.
It really only works out if they WANT to be the comic (anime) shop guy and hang out at his store all day.

Comics are a different issue right now. They're fucking dying because their industry is fucking themselves and the only ones that make money have moved to crowdfunding and online presence, so when a lot of stores lump stuff in together (Diamond being a supplier for figs in the US as well as the primary distributor for comics) they hang themselves from the start.
