This movie is on it's way to break box office records isn't it?

No, because the film is dead and burned

Pretty much.

Attached: 1473881015179.jpg (1018x911, 90K)

Sure, okay. While it's at it, it'll beat out Avengers Endgame.

Whatever you want to believe.

Honestly, it's probably delayed indefinitely.

I hope it does just to help out Kyoani

Attached: 1522605849200.png (438x635, 283K)

All the work they did for the movie is probably gone along with the building. It's probably gonna be canceled.

I'll definitely be wanting to see it in theaters now since it will be Kigami's last production.
Fucking hell

Trying too hard.

It's been confirmed that everything except a bit of postproduction was done on the movie and Studio 1 doesn't do post production and wasn't working on the movies at the time, it was in pre-production for new shit that will probably never exist now. The movie might be delayed because kyoani is fucked hard but the distributors have stated they don't expect a delay, and the movie is almost certainly coming out sooner or later.

Wrong. It's in final production in another studio.

Is it actually completed or did it get destroyed in the fire?

Oh geez, stop. It was an okay joke. You are wrong.

The distributor already came out and clarified that the OVA is still releasing on time in September, and the film's date is unchanged in January. It's been in the CGI team's hands for a while now, and worked on at Studio 5, not 1.

Alright, thanks bro. That's at least some good news to hear from this tragedy.

>it was in pre-production for new shit that will probably never exist now
RIP Hibike! S3. We can all just pretend Reina won Kumikobowl in the end.

I unironically thought it was a picture of Saber at first

I love me so prosthetics

Attached: Prosthetic-arm.jpg (590x350, 62K)

Reminder that 20 Seiki Denki Mokuroku was the known project in preproduction at studio 1 at the time of the fire.
Violet movie came out unscathed.

Imagine if a fucking VEG movie is the last we see of Kyoani. Even Free! is better. An absolute disgrace.

veg is somewhere on their top 3 so shut the fuck up fag

I'm gonna cry like a little bitch

No, because it actually has to be good, sure it will do better then typical kyoani trash since many people feel bad for them, but it won't be a good movie because neo-kyoani is incapable of making anything good, it'll end up like koe no katachi, that film you're supposed to like, but no one actually cares about.

Fuck

The Free 2020 movie is still supposed to come out too.

>top 3
>garbage story
>protagonist is an emotionless super soldier 14 year old girl with fully functioning robot arms in a story set in a ww1 setting
>melodramatic as shit but without any built up behind it making it forced and emotionally manipulative
>those garbage ass filters over otherwise fantastic animation

Attached: 1348260977245.jpg (405x289, 17K)

Dishonest sales number thanks to tragedy

Poor kyoani. Ending it on fucking VEG and Free!

Attached: cry.jpg (714x1000, 165K)

How the fuck does she move her arms? Is she a cyborg? Does their timeline have cyborgs? Are they powered by electricity? Or steam? How can she move every finger individually? Is this magic? Why didnt they just made an army of guys with iron limbs? Why dont just make fucking robots?
I loved Veg so much and mecha is my thing but is there any reason to give her robo arms? Just because it looks cool? I feel like they had some kind of idea with them but forgot. Inb4 there is explanation in novels.
(it does looks cool regardless)

What should be the term for the film only being successful because people see it because of the Kyoani fire? Forced success?

Don't think about it. Just watch and feel sad when they say to you when to feel sad.

No? I'm sure tons of people planned on seeing it already. But, I imagine that many people will watch that film multiple times in order to generate large revenues for the Studio, so that a big chunk of that goes into proceeds towards the grieving families.

You're so naive.

the mechanical arms are symbolic of her war PTSD and adjusting to life as a civilian where she has to learn to use her arms for new purposes

>so that a big chunk of that goes into proceeds towards the grieving families.
delusional.
they're going to higher ups pockets and lawsuit stuff.

nice headcanon.

Kyoani isn't the kind of studio that would pocket the cash
Not positive about Sentai however

...

Can Violet heal the trauma of the animators?

Attached: failed protection.jpg (1365x729, 99K)

Its been put in the incinerator along with the hacks that made it

its meant to be a light steampunk, light fantasy world, and having her need to use prosthetic (Which have so sense of feeling) is basically a physical way of showing her emotional state

I never heard of it. It doesn't have a ghost of a chance.

To make her more like a “doll”

Never even heard of it.

Attached: saberclone a shit.jpg (2451x2100, 639K)

>its meant to be a light steampunk, light fantasy world
Her arms are LITERALLY the only thing out of place. It's not a fantasy world.

Attached: 1557457750854.jpg (839x597, 86K)

>implying
It's a fictional pangaea with lots of anachronism and some low fantasy elements, which is far more believable than a group of high schoolers with super powers and characterization that might as well be walking stereotypes.
>another dumb faggot that doesn't know the meaning of melodrama
>he doesn't know that manipulating emotions is one of the goals of art
>he can't get over how modern effects work
fuck off fag

I liked Violet Evergarden the LN of course, though the anime was soft on the eyes

Attached: violet.gif (1280x720, 1.38M)

No, generic male childhood friend guy canonically won kumikobowl. Did you forget that the movie just came out? You didn't go see it?

Attached: shuuichi.jpg (473x562, 56K)

I liked the LN except the ending. I thought the anime handled it better. Removing Gilbert forced Violet to overcome her shit on her own and reach her own conclusions. That's the one thing it did better than the novel.

LN Violet was a sociopathic demigod who never learned what love was in the end, and still gets Gilbert. Which is why LN > anime for me

only reason I didnt like the LN is that Violet literally learns nothing and is still rewarded with Gilbert dick meanwhile anime Violet struggles and grows

>literally a bunch of headcanons not shown in the show itself whatsoever
And yes, there are few anime as melodramatic as VEG but other shows that are melodramatic like Clannad at least have the build up for it. VEG is presents a character and then the same episode you're suppose to cry over said character. It's just extremely emotionally manipulative, as in it's telling you when you're suppose to feel something. It's discreet with this in the slightest making it feel extremely forced.

it isn't discreet*

Its dead, Jim. Same as kyoani.

Are short stories also emotionally manipulative? Just because you can't empathize with a character if you haven't spent 40 hours watching their light hearted slice of life adventures doesn't mean telling an emotional story in 20 minutes is somehow bad.

A lot of things exist in anime just because it's sexy or pretty or cool. This is neither limited to kyoani or a bad thing on it's own.

They're not gonna get sued. I'm sorry you live in a shitty

NOOOO STOPPP NOOO AHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Attached: 1551874929857.png (1920x1882, 2.64M)

Just.....shut up a little, ok?

The way they were portrayed in VEG? yes, they were only there for the single purpose to make you sad. Not to be their own character.

Might do DBZ Brolly numbers.

again, stop using words you don't understand
you don't even know empathy has no time requirement, sasuga autistic-kun

k

Can you write something of substance instead of pointless deflections?

I hope so, this show is amazing.

thx fag

what is substance to you
what? explaining how veg is actually quite sincere with its presentation and doesn't resort to the usual exaggerated and cliche reactions and meme faces that anime is so famous for, which are by definition melodramatic because they're always over some mundane event or conversation?
or perhaps substance would mean telling your that episodic characters that are meant to last only 23 minutes are supposed to be independent of the kind of progression reoccurring characters have and that in the case of a tragic or sad story they're supposed to go through bad things, which is the case here since the protagonist in question cannot understand people unless they are suffering because she herself wants to kill herself but doesn't know it until episode 9

define substance and stop using buzzwords and words you don't understand

All I know is that if it does get released and screened in America I'm going to watch it as many times as I physically can in thearers and will buy a Blu-Ray for me and all my friends.

RIP KYOANI

no u

How did you manage to write so much about so little?

It's not hard to understand. Many of the characters are only there to force you to feel a certain way. They aren't built as actual characters. They're there to tell you that you should be sad at this sad moment. It's just extremely forced and manipulative. It's just really bad storytelling. Unironically try to watch more anime. An anime doesn't become good because it looks pretty.

If they were going to still have her do stupid superhuman shit like crash land directly into a high speed Naruto run around half a dozen armed soldiers firing directly at her, all of whom would have been killed if they didn't just immediately give up, they should have just gone full retard and let her keep the giant axe.

Attached: 1516696320460.jpg (1219x652, 178K)

How

poor yuritards so fucking deluded and retarded

see this is the part where you ignore almost everything I said and go on a tangent but sure, whatever
the episodic characters are there so you can follow the progression of the protagonist; most of the stories are sad for the reasons I explained to you
not to mention that it makes perfect sense to have most of them be sad stories given how their world was just about to end a world war that the protagonist fought on

I'm almost at 600 titles watched and I doubt it'll get to 600 any time soon because I'm tired of this medium, it's all the same bullshit that I don't care about
it doesn't matter how many non-arguments like "hurr watch anime until you agree with me" you make, I'm not gonna stop dropping nearly everything on episode 1 or 2 and that's final
you're allowed to dislike veg for whatever stupid reasons you want and I'm allowed to like it for whatever stupid reasons I want, period

Attached: despair.gif (500x373, 1019K)

>cookie cutter characters are alright because they're there just to serve the mary sue!

hehe

Remember when the most tragic thing to happen this season was a loli getting her heart punched out of her chest in Symphogear? I already miss those days.

YAMEROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Attached: 1525840267057.gif (720x405, 2.25M)

who are you quoting?

Give it a little more time. Aoi said this season would be more painful than ever and to look forward to episode 4.

>still writing so much about so little
The characters are their for the MC, the same MC that is a 14 year old super soldier woman with metal arms. They aren't their own characters. They only serve to make the audience sad.

And I really doubt you have watched 600 titles. The way you write is simply to inexperienced. You're writing just a lot of meaningless stuff with stuff you pulled out of you ass because you want to defend the series that made you feel emotional and sad. But VEG is objectively a badly told story. As I said before, watch more anime.

2020 Olympics will have the hommanage for kyoani for sure

being there for the protagonist implies they orbit her instead of their own problems, which is not the case here
the protagonist shows up to write stuff and often gets berated for being bad at it, at the end of the day they're worried about whatever it is that made them require a glorified secretary; none of them care about what the protagonist is going through and if she ends up helping them emotionally that's all the more power to them

by the way, liking a piece of art because it makes you feel something is as good a reason as any, especially when anime in general makes me feel nothing but boredom
and since you refuse to stop using non-arguments while being awfully hypocritical about certain accusations I'm ending my side the conversation in this post

>being there for the protagonist implies they orbit her instead of their own problems, which is not the case here
No, the characters are there to (poorly) build up Violets character development while trying to tell the audience when they should be sad. They aren't actual characters. They disappear as soon as their job of affecting the audience and the MC is done.

his anime is nothing more than a cheap, uninspired, husk of a drama. I’m given the impression that the author thinks he knows what makes other drama work well and try to replicate that without having a clear understanding of how to write good drama or what his work even wants to be at times

Your fucking post style is so shit it even triggered my ACK filters. Thank christ you're done.

I'd rather be burned alive in KyoAni headquarters than pay money to sit through such garbage.

Not him but It’s a character piece primarily focused on Violet overcoming her traumatic experience in the war and the many people she meets along the way. The problem is, it doesn’t do enough of either to make you invested in the world or its characters. Everyone in the story is forgettable and doesn’t have enough screen time since it‘s constantly introducing new characters every episode. This straight up leaves people from its supporting cast ignored completely.

It skips right past developing an interesting cast of characters to make you respond in an emotionally resonant way so it loses all meaning and punch. What you’re left with is the most basic form of drama that above all else, is just plain boring.

>The problem is, it doesn’t do enough of either to make you invested in the world or its characters. Everyone in the story is forgettable and doesn’t have enough screen time since it‘s constantly introducing new characters every episode.
The traveling premise sounds sorta like Kino, but how does it fail here?

>kino

Y'all are just angry because Violet made people feel things unlike your favorite animu.

You dense motherfucker.

I haven't watched Kino yet but at least in Violet Evergarden it fails because you simply don't care much for the characters. They're underdeveloped and fleeting which affects everything around it. Characters often make the story, not the other way around which is what it tried to do with Violet Evergarden. It gives you dramatic moments but in the end it's very superficial.

If you weren't so shit at making clever jokes that might have actually been funny.

Attached: yui lebowski.png (281x163, 56K)

A lot of people let superficial stuff affect them, which there isn't much wrong with. If you like it, good for you. Just don't pretend it's anything noteworthy.

Gonna get the Heath Ledger treatment and be hailed as a masterpiece

The problem is that the anime itself is already called a masterpiece by a lot of people, this movie is going to do nothing but only justify the fans in their crusade by being yet another powerhouse in production quality and tearjerking.

Attached: 1475046565380.png (285x310, 107K)

Time flop

It's too much of a stretch. Better examples:
>I'm pretty fired up for it.
>Like hell it will.
>It'll be the hottest anime film of 2020
