Oh yeah, Hinomaru Zoumo just ended and literally nobody noticed.
RIP Hinomaru, and the balls of whatever editor finally pulled the plug when the Yakuza with the switchblade comes back.

>manlet pride
I like the ending, his hard work and love of sumo payed off.

>take 15 minutes of punches to the face
>no big deal, who gives a fuck, sumo stronk
Didn't know I'd enjoy a sumo manga.
Was there a reason for it ending on the peak or was it author's choice? He could have milked it for another 1000 chapters (IPPO), instead he ends it rather quickly while its still good.
desu Hinomaru never sold. It's been doing like 30-40k for its entire run, and the anime is quite literally one of the worst selling anime in the last 2 decades.
I liked it, but it clearly had to have someone or something pulling for it to keep going as long as it did. You're not gonna see that fucking Rugby manga get 5 years of serialization.
I'm guessing how spectacularly the anime tanked was the straw that finally broke the camel's back and pushed the editorial staff to give Kawada an ultimatum. You could definitely feel the manga started to rush through this last tournament arc as soon as the anime ended.
At least Kawada still seems to be in good terms with WSJ though, so his next work should show up within their pages. We can only hope it's anywhere near the quality of HZ.
Was it just me or did Hinomaru vs. Jino last a lot less longer than Hinomaru vs. Sosuke?
well, it was shorter. It was in fact rushed, a little bit. Not that it's bad though, they packed plenty of kino into the fight.
>I liked it, but it clearly had to have someone or something pulling for it to keep going as long as it did.
Magazine readers liked it, simple as that.
Damn it just started it last week, I'm at the start of the timeskip now. Hope it keeps on being kino
Worse than DxD Season 4?
so it was a good ending?
It finally got axed? Didn't think it would actually happen.
There's an anime ?! Legit never heard of it
The first few episodes were full of QUALITY and re-arranged events. I heard it got a little better but I dropped it after a few episodes.
First ED was pretty damn great at least.

The captain died with the ship.
I don't know how I feel about a world where the 30k club is disbanded.
>It finally got axed?
maybe it was a natural conclusion?
I'm very satisfied with the conclusion and the way things played out, but the matches do seem a tad rushed compared to the ones in the finals of the High School saga. The ending seems natural enough but it happened a little faster than I was expecting.
More or less, the final tournament arc came as a bit of a surprise in the story, but not so weird outside of it. As for the tournament itself, it wasn't rushed.
I only finished part 1 and was waiting for part 2 to finish.
Guess it's time to read it.
So how'd it end? What happened to all the characters? Only watched the anime.
Second arc timeskips to Hinomaru and a bunch of other rivals participating in the professional league.
Gonna dump the last chapter now.
>jump literally declares war on the yakuza
The balls on those fucks
What's up with this Yakuza meme? Is it something to do with Hinomaru specifically or just the old money laundering scheme?
My man.
It didn't make sense to anyone why a series that sold poorly so consistently would last 250 chapters so the meme explanation people came up with was that the Yakuza threatened WSJ to keep the series running in the hope of renewing Japan's interest in sumo thus allowing them to make more money off of illegal gambling/match fixing/whatever else.
>not-Trump is on the final page
Heh
It was an alright series but boy is WSJ running out of material
Interest in Sumo in Japan is pretty far down as of late and it's a sport that is very thoroughly mobbed up.
I missed the Daichi High crew so much.
Is that fucking Donal Trump?
Yeah it's him
Good night, president of the 30k club. It was a great and under-appreciated ride.
Based on a true story.
>What a YUGE cup! haha congrats you chubby champ
>oh man it's the President of the US what should I do
So does this mean Hinomaru is the Yokozuna now or does he have to consistently win a few more times? I forgot what the rules were
That's a nice bit of character growth. Went from screaming in Sosuke's face and bursting into tears after winning the team tournament to acting the way a rikishi should even after the biggest moment of his life.
Promotion to Yokozuna requires an Ozeki wrestler to win two tournaments in a row (or just archieve equivalent results, if you're the yokozuna deliberation council's good side).
I believe Hinomaru was Maegashira 3W during this tournament, so he still has a long way to go.
>oh man it's the President of the US what should I do
More like
>oh man this orange guy is about to drop our cup from his sausage fingers
Did the captain go pro too?
Yes
Yeah, but he went to a different stable. Kinda wish we got to see a few more matches of his.
There's only room for one sumo in shonen
I enjoyed it, trying to keep track of everyone's new names and looks for part 2 was annoying though
I gave up on everybody not named Tennoji or Sosuke. I can recognize the white haired guy in Jino's stable and Hinomaru's stable senpai but I'm drawing a blank on their names.
>he doesn’t even end up as the Yokozuna
What the hell, fuck gonzo for shitting the start of the anime.
Just adapt it and not change it you fucking shit.
Definitely rushed but still good.
>talking about sausage fingers around rikishi
Not to mention the elder helping him is the former ozeki Musoyama who was like 175kg in his prime
>instead he ends it rather quickly while its still good
It's better this way
So the student council girl won the Hinomarubowl?
It was barely a contest.
That would either require a timeskip epilogue or a Part 3, which isn't going to happen.
Really surprised it ended here, I hope there is an omake extra chapter with him as a Yokozuna. I love sumo and I was really surprised to see a manga about it years ago when it started. I wondered how the bouts would play out in manga as IRL matches last one to two minutes on average, but the author pulled it off really well.
On a scale from Hinomaru to Kinnikuman, how crazy is this series?
One of the shonen manga here MC get's a fucking cutie and is best girl at the same time, based author, I was sure when I first started reading this that he would pick glasses but for once I was surprised.
This is correct, the second method is what happened to a wrestler named Kisenosato. He became Yokozuna through pressure by the council to have a Japanese yokozuna as there hasn't been one for many years. He obviously didn't have the record to be promoted, but he was a top ozeki, so it wasn't outrageous for him to be promoted. He couldn't maintain any semblance of yokozuna sumo though and stepped down, ending his career all because of some politics. I'm sure it was an honor to finally become a yokozuna, but IMO it wasn't honest.
Glasses officially is shown to be interested in one of the other guys from his stable
Imagine being cucked out of your own national sport so badly you just stop watching it.
It's literally descended from Mongolian Wrestling so the Mongolians showing up and stomping your ass at it shouldn't have been a huge shock.
It's pretty batshit in its own unique way, would recommend
Did they fuck yet?
Oh man this takes me back
They will. Whether we get to see it or not is a different question
I got into this series because I wanted a little bit of context for that meme. Didn’t expect to end up binging it in a few days.
Well if that's true hopefully Hinoamru's run managed to satisfy them so no one had to chop off their pinky finger for poor returns.
Baki? You may find it hit or miss, but no one can deny that it's in a crazy league of its own
Goodnight, sweet prince. I hope Kawada comes back with something as good as Hinomaru and it sells better. Reina had been unironically my favourite heroine in WSJ's lineup for years.
more like hinomaru zoomer am i right?
