This. I love the idea of its premise even more than the original Lain's.

Nothing happened

translate from bunnyrunes?

Any lainfriends can tell me what the song that plays after the KIDS flashback in episode 6? The lead guitar is fucking incredible and I can't find it on uploaded soundtracks.

it's going to happen but I doubt that we'll hear something before 2020 / 2021

And, you don’t seem to understand.

>playing ECCO on Kega Fusion at the time I'm watching Lain
>get to the episode where it goes into the history of the ECCO program by John Lilly
>suddenly understand why it's about a dolphin fighting against aliens
This was one of the weirdest epiphanies I had as a teenager.

this one:

It was weird for me when I was in computer science class and we were going through all these early computing systems, mentioning Vannevar Bush and Ted Nelson. This music was playing in my head through that lecture:

He was reffering to this new website (I think?). He posted it the day after on his twitter with the same hashtag as the announcement post.
As much as I can tell from shitty google translate, the SEL domain is now open source in a way? I don't completely understand it. It would be nice if someone who can read and translate Japanese would elaborate on the subject.

Anyway here is the link

I wouldn't mind waiting until 2022 so the release date coincides with the 100th anniversary of the story.

Damn, I totally forgot how amazing Lain's soundtrack was. I seriously need to rewatch it at some point. Preferably on a CRT.

Interesting, I wonder why they're dragging up the IP? Some new media, like some artbooks? Though by what you've said it sounds more like some sort of community project. Hopefully a tech project of some kind, I'd like to see some work put into speech-controlled OSs and holographic displays, or even a 3D virtual network, with nodes of the net being represented spacially in an interactive 3D render, that can be entered to visit the host's virtual space. Though that's closer to GITS SAC.

>100th
huh?

It's also pretty damn good sound-design wise too. Particularly I love the abrupt end to the music after this flashback in episode 9:

If I'm understanding it right... They're giving free license (not free copyright) to do secondary works based in Lain and even earn money doing so, but without earning a living with it?

Like making t-shirts, selling them once or twice, but not having a shop about it?

And something about giving the benefits until 2028 to something.

Holy shit you're right. That would be great.

wait what happened in 1922?

It's set in 1922.

I don't think we'll hear anything this year but I'm almost certain something will happen in 2020, ABe has said a few things on his Patreon indicating he's working on an animation and we've all seen Chiaki's tweet by now.

pretty sure this is it

Any proofs?

thanks for getting me hyped over an old tease tweet for something that's already been announced, op

Proof for what? That despera is set in 1922? Just google it.

this, I'm so mad OP.

I fucking hope

Too soon.
