The disappearance of Yasuhiro Takemoto

Of course I know his anime. Even after 50 years you don't forget anime like that. All the kids who watched Lucky Star know that crazy shit. Let me know man, what the hell, is he alright?

In cases like these "missing" means they haven't officially identified his body. I'm sorry OP but he's gone.

not even Haruhi's hotpot can assuage me now

Attached: Kyon_sad.jpg (1280x720, 65K)

We will remember his work, won't we?

The alternative is that his body was cremated from th heat

Not enough heat in case of common fire.

>Yamada worked on two episodes of Full Metal Panic! The Second Raid, where she learned a lot from the always demanding Yasuhiro Takemoto but struggled to keep up with his pace.

Is it true he helped mentor KyoAni's last hope?

FUCKING SHIT COME BACK BRO PLEASE BE ALIVE

When Kon passed away at only 40-something, at least he got to spend his last months and days with his wife and people he loves, saying goodbye.
This guy and the other deceased weren't even allowed that much, damn

Remember to try and make the most of your short time on this Earth.

>We will remember his work, won't we?

I will remember the FMP shows he worked on.
He's not with us anymore, but I'm sure that wherever anime heaven is, he is being cared for by Chidori, Melissa and Tessa and having a great time.

This is so fucked up bros

he is (was) a bro tier beast though

According to the bassist it's a she

Takemoto still waiting for an apology

I don't think I can bring myself to really believe in a heaven but when tragedies like this happen I kind of want to for the victims who didn't deserve to die young

But the bassist never got to confirm if she was a she although everyone else did.

I believe

Are you stupid? Plenty did when it happened. What are they supposed to say days later when nothing new has happened?

A 30 second blurb is not the same as coverage kiddo

Yes it is. Some crazy dude started a fire half the world away and killed 30+ people. There's nothing else to fucking say.

I don't think Kyoani can make a comedy anime without him.

R.I.P.

Can we give him the tribute he deserves and lift this to the top of Yea Forums?

I want him to be fine. Please. Let a miracle happen.

Do you even lift bro?

Attached: Yui_lift.jpg (210x230, 11K)

the only miracle we can maybe hope for is that nishiya futoshi was the guy who got his legs amputated but survived.

>see

Miracles can happen

im right here haha

I guess a public announcement of his death will be made soon enough.
I wonder if they'll say where in the building they found his body.

Last time I read Nishiya was one of the people who were transferred at the hospital, is this confirmed?

nothing is confirmed other than that one male staff member survived but had to get his legs amputated. for some reason, hatta mentioned this gruesome detail during his short press conference.

Not lifting hard enough

Only flesh is burning, you can't destroy skeleton with fire. The "ashes" you get from crematorium is actually leftover bones grinded to the dust after cremating. And that fire wasn't even that strong, so all the bodies still gave flesh.

The fact that this bastard is likely gone still isn't quite sinking in with me. Maybe in a few days...

Anime is pretty niche in the west, especially to the boomers who run the news. There is no point in doing deeper coverage since their audience probably has no idea who these people are or what they've made.

The two men, friends since high school, were in touch on social media a week ago about getting together for a drink. But on Sunday, one was mourning the other, a victim of the arson attack on a Japanese animation studio that has claimed 34 lives.

“He was quite a shy person, so he didn’t tell people that he’d managed to get a job at the studio. He was a great drawer. Working at an animation studio was his dream,” the 30-year-old friend, who declined to give his name, said near the site of the studio, a burnt hulk at the end of a quiet residential street.

so any news

It's midnight now

And yet somehow you also know what New Vegas is... almost as if everyone plays video games these days...

I don't want him to be gone but if he is he's in a better place. I'll remember his work.

Goddammit Aya is such a delicious whore.

Seeing stuff like this is almost the hardest part, and hearing stories like the granddad of the young animator.

the only way I can see it is if he's so badly burnt in the hospital or he's sleeping/put into a coma and can't be IDed without talking to him

It is said that she was so upset after hearing about the fire that she only fucked 2 guys that day

>pics of the orgy
where

I really can't rank them, they are all great at different things (no comment on Yamakan).
Ishidate and Kigami are great animators and episode directors. Ishihara and Yamada are great series directors. Takemoto was also a great director even though I wasn't a huge fan of his shows after Hyouka, possibly because I kept hoping something would match Hyouka.
RIP Takemoto, Kigami, Shouko Ikeda, and possibly Nishiya. They were all very talented.

Don't you talk shit about New Vegas you cunt weasel.

Wait for the official confirmation.

How old was he?

46

What a strong showing of solidarity she has with the victims of the tragedy

>kept hoping something would match Hyouka
Maybe pic related could have been it, but the degenerate faggot just had to ruin it all.

Attached: 1563553038014.jpg (512x387, 38K)

Moot allowed Naruto, faglord. Fuck your "board culture".

>3 days later
>nip police still not bothered to give details of who's kill, who's survived or who's got ICU'D

In any civilized nations that shit just covered in less 48 hours of said incident happen. Why nip so secretive? Does their CSI team so slow to identify burned victims?

There are only 6 deceased in the 40s.
We already confirmed 1, she did coloring and sfx. Lets assume ikeda and takemoto are the others 2, who are the other 3?

>In civilized nations the authorities and media don't give a shit about the privacy of the victim's families

There were some newbies, they probably brought a few veterans to help them.

That's not why Japan does it though; it's some stupid bullshit from the doctor's lobby

It got a bit of news coverage in Europe for a few days but then its back to normal stuff as there's no new information.

I just want to know if my man Takemoto is alive and well ;_;

But his future looks grim and not even his best buddy Gatoh saying anything about his bro whereabouts.

I can’t even bring myself to joke about this. I’m so depressed from it.

So let me get this straight, only Yamada has been confirmed safe by a close friend. The rest is still for all intents and purposes, missing.

Imagine losing all but one of your directors in an arson.

No, a few others have been confirmed safe as well like Ishihara and Ishidate.

Gatoh is probably masturbating himself imagine if it was Takehomo

So why aren't they releasing names of injured and dead? It seems kind of irresponsible at this point.

>It seems kind of irresponsible
Why?

Why the fuck don't the living confirm that they're alive? What exactly is their problem? it seems like we're expected to not give a shit and punished for giving a shit

Because they're making fans worried for half a week now

Also, not all of the deceased were KyoAni employees, right? do we have any idea who else got involved?

Yeah, I can understand maybe not releasing information to preserve the privacy of whatever, but at least the ones who are alive can let the people know that.

On this day Yea Forums received a grim reminder that Japan is a bureaucratic shithole where even the most basic procedures take weeks to get done.

Definitely explains all the power fantasies where an individual suddenly receives a power and is able to cut through that bureaucratic red tape and just get shit done (Death Note, etc).

Huh? Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't the kyoani&Do festival supposed to be on August? I thought they'd cancel it but their site lists it for November now.

That describes my country as well.

yes, everyone worried about who has die in the incident. But, japan wouldn't release such a thing. they care about privacy and family of the victim. that's just japanese things.

>americans think they are more important than the families and friends of the victims
Give them some time to grieve without a thousand cameras on their faces you fucking idiots.

>the whole band

>americans
You mean the rest of the world where memorandums get released within 24 hours of an accident? Even third world countries put out casualty lists quicker than this.

We need names so we can start crying too.

But eventually funeral ceremony will happen and no way they going to censor the deceased names and faces.

Even dead sandniggers funerals got named, why can't some nips?

Those actually had a lot of attention on details and individual movements now that I think about it. A fucking shame that the talent behind them was taken so violently

He might just be in the hospital

KyoAni owes it to the fans, all VAs need to confirm their alive too, it's just common decency and they owe it to the fans

Attached: 1563149472617.gif (233x253, 2.12M)

>killing people with 40 liters of gasoline is way effective than blowing yourself up or shooting up some niggas

ISIS wishes to be as effective as this fat fuck when comes to kill as many people in short time.

Or they could be incapacitated or grieving

Takemoto was probably the only director that kyoAnifags would agree they liked him. As someone who prefers Ishihara's works than his, I still like his works, Amagi was great at mimicking the evolution of dead park to popular park for example despite he was rather bad at this department. I was the one who argued that if you want to create good story, make Yamada/Ishihara introduces the characters then after everyone invests the character, make Takemoto do the story. This is basically how Disappearance made and it was my 1st ranked favourite kyoAni anime.

Nah, it was the new building, it like 4 years old.

VAs don't need to confirm since they are almost never at the animation studios. If you're that worried just check their Twitter, they've likely posted something there since the fire.
>What exactly is their problem?
Maybe their problem is that they've been BURNED by a fucking fire and have to be treated at the hospital. Give them a fucking break.

Kigami, arguably their best animator is dead. Shouko Ikeda also dead. Nishiya probably dead too. Even if they weren't series directors, they were pretty prominent.

Looks like the same rooftop to me.

user, they aren't posting after the fire incident happened. That's why some anons are panicking right now about their health well-being.
Miku is fortunately safe afaik.

Worried about what? They still were in that horrific catastrophe, it's not as if "oh thank God, he's alive!" would make anything better. What if he's one of those who had limbs amputated? What if he went blind? Or even if physically okay, has suffered such a trauma from seeing his friends being burned alive before his eyes that he takes his own life a little down the road?
There are no winners here.

Jesus Christ why are burgers so fucking entitled. Fuck off mate.

There isn't anything of value that would be lost. Especially the people running Hollywood.

Underrated.

Personally, even more than Takemoto or any director, the one who I will miss the most is Nishiya. His design style is one of a kind, he was along with Kigami the best assets Kyoani had in the animation staff. His death is a fucking disgrace, I hope that some miracle got him into the injured (even though he might quit animation for the rest of his life depending of his state)

I got a few takes on why.
1. Really important people, not to the company itself, but at large was one of the casualties. Persons like celebrities or VAs. Which leads to point number 2
2. NHK, which is a part of government, is being investigated for this. The government doesn't want to be accountable for the incident especially if really important persons have died, so they'd rather have the police prolong the incident so they can come up with an excuse. To make matters worse, it's election season. Government confidence has got to be at an all time high
3. Fire safety regulations in Japan is at the cusp at being reformed. Because of this all parties involved are taking this matter at the most careful pace

Attached: c7rq8a2fdx611.gif (379x387, 83K)

...

Miku and Takase are gonna have a lot of responsibility to carry if Nishiya did die.
The same goes for Ishidate if Kigami died.

This shit is just sad man.

>fans
Who gives a fuck about you. They need to make sure they identify them properly for the families of the victims.

Why would NHK be investigated for this?

It can take a long time for Japanese people to publicly reveal a person has died. I remember when Hinata Takeda, the illustrator for Gosick and Ikoku Meiro no Croisee abruptly vanished from the industry, leaving her manga on hiatus. No one knew what happened to her and no information was released about her. People speculated that she could be ill, on maternity leave, got burnt out on work and changed jobs, or was working under a different pen name. Finally several years later her sister revealed in a blog post that she had died some months earlier of some unspecified disease that she had been battling for years. After that official acknowledgement and condolences followed in the media and from industry people who knew her. But no one would have known what happened to her if not for her sister feeling like commemorating her publicly some time after the fact.

Dude, you already said the same shit like billions, it's not even dejavu, it's literally the same patterns. Allow me to fuck you

The fact that there had to be amputations fucks me up the most

From a realistic viewpoint. What's the worst that's going to happen to the guy who did it? Will he just get life in prison or will some whiteknight preach about him being mentally ill and he'll get off light because of it?

That's nothing, check this out
>“She was my pride,” the man, Kazuo Okada, 69, said of his granddaughter, Megumu Ohno. “Her name started appearing on the screens of anime movies. I was so happy to see that. I was proud of her. I want to see her face soon.”

>He said his 21 years old granddaughter has been working for KyoAni for 2 years and she seems to work on the 3rd floor, but in the morning he found her name on the missing list. The grandpa met her 1 week ago." She always says she's working hard, she's happy to see her name in the movie, and recently she bought me a fan book with her own money as a gift, as she knew I'm a fan of that baseball club"

Attached: 1563661797634.jpg (1228x693, 110K)

Didn't they claimed they found everyone?

I think there's a good chance he's getting the noose. I don't think his lawyer will be able to play the mental illness card since the crime was obviously premeditated and planned.

They were the one who forced kyoAni to set the security to lvl 0.
2 scenarios.
1. died by hanging after getting life sentence
2. died caused by the wrath of the victims' family

Death seems like an easy way out for him. I want him to suffer.

STOP.

COME BACK. YOUR WORK ISN'T DONE.

This hits me the most desu.

He's absolutely getting the death penalty, it doesn't matter how nuts he is. It's also a fairly shitty way to go, in terms of first world punishment at least.

Even if a mob dragged him out and set him on fire, it's not going to atone for his crimes in the least.

COME BACK YOUR WORK ISN’T DONE! Please come back. Please.

The ride never ends. Be kind to your seniors and hug and kiss your grandfather/grandmother. If they not aviable anymore, your parents. You will never now what will happen tomorrow. Be a good person.

Attached: untitled.jpg (845x683, 76K)

I think Kyoani will really mutate their style after this (I doubt they will die), just as a way to separate themselves from the old style which will remind them all the people who passed away. It's a nice way to re-start from 0, and don't feel discouraged by the lack of talent they'll of course suffer from now until enough years pass and they have another group of new gen animators ready for the action.

That being said, I'm not saying they should abandon their signature style completely, but try to stay as far away as they can from it, it will certainly facilitate them to teach the animation process again if their big names are no longer available.

>forced
I'm realy curious what thought process would be with this. Do you believe NHK called KyoAni and were like:
> You better unlock that front entrance, or else!
Or is more believable that KyoAni decided to unlock that entrance themselves to possibly not inconvenience the NHK crew?

eye for an eye
tooth for a tooth
Death by bonfire

I wonder if their first post-incident anime will be lighthearted cgdct anime or a serious show about loss and death.

Couldn't agree more. This guy needs to suffer as much as possible before dying.

I'm more inclined to a show that will act as therapy for them as well, something of the likes of series like Yuru Camp (relaxing and healing style), but nothing extremely happy as well, you know I doubt they'll in the mood for something like that for some years.

Knowing how vindictive nips can get, what are the odds people might go after family or friends (if the fucker had any)?

>ighthearted cgdct anime or a serious show about loss and death.
Is there any anime that actually deal with this? Haibame is more about how to accept your own guilt and go on.

80%. All it takes is one obsessed fan.

People dont come out of nowhere other than pussies you retard

Even though Evergarden already fills the quota of the latter I think they'll do something like it again. Everybody involved is too depressed to make CGDCT.

>knowing how vindictive nips can get,
Examples? Because Junko Furuta's case gave me other impression, more like the relatives of the victim just wanted to try to keep going with their lives and not focussing in revenge, no matter how infuriating was the result of the trial.

VEG is just a goddess playing suffering-show that doesn't actually deals with realistic suffering, despide being a comfy show. I feel many of the people who created the show would see it in a different way now.

What if Kyoani makes this but anime. Could be about Buddhist nuns too.

Well, if his family receive the social hammer (because someone always has to pay, the death of the fat-ass might no be enough for some people), isn't kind of deserved? If you raised such a piece of shit, there is something you did wrong.

Well, Key shows.

Evergarden is the opposite of comfy. Almost every episode has somebody die or use Violet to grieve dead family members.
And how many suicide attempts and emotional shutdowns does the protagonist require until it becomes realistic suffering to you? I mean, Violet had it pretty rough throughout the entire show.

And yeah, the people involved probably see it very differently now.

It's not completely impossible now. Kyoani built their studio with them, and Ishihara is still fine, plus Yamada.

>Kore-eda kino

>goddess playing suffering-show that doesn't actually deals with realistic suffering, despide being a comfy show.
Explain

Then they would have names to tell a story. If they had released the names I bet media coverage would be greater, if that is all you care about

What are you talking about you absolute retard?
The man was 41, how is it the parents' responsibility that he turned out to be insane?

I actually meant that more in a studio sense, but yeah. Darkness isn't actually new to them. It's just everything still had that positive message underneath.

Windy Tales is another show that touches on death in a very Japanese way, in my opinion.

I know Tenchi Muyo in Love was a movie, that was an editing error on my part

>The man was 41, how is it the parents' responsibility that he turned out to be insane?
Seriously?
A good parental work in the first 15-16 years of life might completely avoid that 25 years later he turned completely insane or develop mental disorders. Even when that's a genetic thing most of the times, not all mental problems lead to rage issues or psycho tendencies, as long your foundations are solid. And guess what, that's a direct parental responsibility.

Hopefully the Jim Henson route of doubling down on an optimistic style.

>8 (Yukko making bad puns; elevator scene), 16 (what's in Mio's bag?), 22 (dog bite), and 25 (Mio-chan! Chan-mio!)
That was the best

It looks like he got third degree burns over at least 10% of his body. That's extraordinarily painful even if the guards remember to give him his pain medication regularly.

He's getting sentenced to death, which means one or two decades on Japanese death row. From what I heard, it's not like our prisons in the west - isolation, only bare necessities, three books for entertainment (dunno if he's allowed to choose them). Hopefully the wardens will treat him like the piece of shit he is as well.
The only thing that worries me are the Western "liberals" pressuring Japan into abandoning the death penalty at some point in the future. If that happens, I hope they execute all death row inmates before it happens, or sort of "grandfathering" them in.

No, drawing and quartering.

Depends on how much they will be under pressure to get something done. I don't know what sort of tone 20 Seiki Denki Mokuroku has, which was apparently their new project (as in not a S2 or movie), but if they already had it in the works, it would be the easiest to pursue (they already hold the rights), compared to actually search for something else.
Maybe some IP holders in the industry are offering them a promising project as part of helping them getting back on their feet.

What happened to Henson?

It's craven, but there will absolutely be publishers lining up to work with KyoAni on very generous terms.
Charlie Hebdo typically sold 60,000 copies. Their first issue after the attack sold 7.95 million.

Because they dont know the names of everyone thats injured or dead, its gonna take at least a week for dental records.
Also it is not worth the grief it could cause the families of the victims if they are listed as injured/iving but die shortly after, or if there is a single error in who is living/dead.
Usually deaths are only announced after the funerals are over in order to protect the families of the dead and to let them greive in peace.

You're extrapolating, this was only one guy, so far I haven't heard from anybody else in that situation, and the media certainly reached out to them. IMO, she's dead, and other families are just aware that there are still bodies not identified yet so they just can't give 100% confirmation. Only this guy doesn't get it. Though they also might have a body severely burned beyond recognition but still alive, not knowing who it is. It's a horrorshow after all.

How the fuck can he still be missing? It's not like Kyoto was hit by a nuke and they need to search a large area. It's a single building.

Is his corpse literally so charred that the doctors can't identify him or did he get isekai'd for his accomplishments?

He died and his son took over. Then everything went to shit and Disney bought them.

>Is his corpse literally so charred that the doctors can't identify him
Maybe, but he was possibly at 3rd floor so he was less burned than the 2nd floor ones. It's more like the police wants to reveal all the names at same time I think.

>22 (dog bite)

Attached: nichi lazor.gif (298x164, 2.69M)

Missing means nobody witness-reported his corpse and they also don't see him being fine and walking around. The authorities know he's dead but are waiting to release the info

>all the names at same time I think
Why though

Ya, I guess it makes sense. I at least hope his family has been informed about his status, whatever it is. I can't even imagine how it must be for his relatives if even they don't know if he is alive or not.

NHK asked kyoAni to unlock the entrance because it's making NHK crews easier to access the location, they did the same with other places when doing interview (this is anecdotal from japanons though, I don't have source to provide that). It's just the studio 1 hadn't recruited bodyguards when that happened. So it's partially also kyoAni's fault.

The guy had knives and a hammer with him: Do you think a simple auto-lock would have kept him out if they tried talking to him through the intercom? He either would have forced his way in when someone came back from lunch, or used the hammer to either shatter the door glass to walk in or break a window and toss gas in that way.

There is no way they would have been prepared for someone fuel-air bombing them, regardless of standard security measures.

To piss you off, obviously.

There are reasonable expectations for what you are protecting against, this sort of stuff isn't remotely one of them.

Yes
youtube.com/watch?v=Miyi1Lc28lc

Yeah, no one expected retard would do that. Still, it's Japan after all where your lost thing is still at the same location as you put before if not easier place to spot.
I expect every business there will recruit bodyguards in the future.

>he became one with Kyoani studio

They are, they need to recognize all the corpses, and take DNA samples to check to the burned ones. They are just keeping the secret besides Megumu's Ojichan and Yukie Tsuda's Father which appeared on the news.

Will they? Maybe temporarily, but nothing like this has happened before. And rather than only getting better at arresting nutters, maybe they should do a better job at mental health care. Not only would they not have this happen, but they could contribute to the economy instead of being holed up at home with psychosis.

Imagine trying to avoid responsibility for your own life this fucking hard.

He sounds like the typical hikki type that Japan has been creating and throwing into a dark hole for decades now.

I don't remember the name of the method or the country that used it, but the guy should be placed naked in a hallowed out log with only his head/hands portruding and fed only a mixture of honey/milk so that his fecal matter is exclusively diarrhea. While bathing in his own filth insects are attracted, crawling all about his body stinging him and eventually make their way into his anus where they continue stinging, laying eggs, and devouring his entrails

Whatever happens to the guy, I really hope he dies a slow agonising death.

It's not good to value one person over the other in a situation like this, and I'm sure all the surviving colleagues would agree.

He’s not a beast he’s beautiful

I don’t know. Any punishment without mental care would be superfluous. Every mean gesture or torture would feed his idea that he is the martyr of a big injustice. He needs to understand what he did, otherwise even if they kill him, he would die with a smile thinking he was right.

Where do you draw the line of who's gonna be institutionalized and who's considered harmless? There's enough serial killers and mass murderers who just snapped and were only considered slightly eccentric, if at all remarkable. And the West is rapidly going the other way, removing mental illnesses from the DSM-IV and "progressives" talking about "saneism" while deconstructing definitions of mental illness in best postmodern fashion.

I really hope he wasn’t the body that was burned so badly that they couldn’t tell if it was male or female.

I'm gonna lay down some analysis on how many years it would take for them to start producing anime again, if they decided wanting to still go down this path with what they have. Just to get a discussion going.

> - Firstly, they will assess the damage to the structural organization. How many key people to the studio have died? - are they from those of the studio committee members etc. If they lost higher ups that are absolutely indispensable to the company, then that could be a huge setback for them or they might reconsider about continuing operation altogether. On the side, they demolishes the studio. Demolishing will take some time, perhaps it's to be finished at the end of 2019 at the earliest
> - Secondly, they will to handle legal matters regarding victimized employees (insurance, health, whether that employee decided to continue working or not). This is not adding the hassle of potential lawsuits that might come from the victims (Bear in mind that dead employees can't sue, but the family members might, and that can be trouble because these people have no fondness towards Kyoani as a company). This adds huge amounts of time to recontinuing anime production operations. This could take to 1 or 2 years. Court cases are very lengthy as far as I know.
> - Thirdly, the have to review their manpower. Who's left on the team? Do they have to hire new people in to replace ones lost? In order to retain the same production quality, do they have to train them? New people might have to be introduced to how their management and work culture works. If they wanted to go that far, restructuring may take several years, maybe. 1 year for this is not enough.

Attached: 1504326132699.jpg (500x880, 134K)

Yeah, realized the problems when I tried to access it earlier. Glad they're fixing it, it's history, despite all the fucking trolls.

cont

> - Fourthly, after all that's settled, they still have to find a building to resume their productions on. Either build a new studio, or work in one of the studios intact (like Animation Do). There is still a problem with that. Firstly they've lost their references and character sheets from the fire (along with scripts and storyboards, maybe.) Then, they have the problem of not having pre-production location for their current works. They might be able do pre-productions on backup studios though, though the quality may differ.
> - Fifthly, say they wanted to continue the shows they've slated to complete, like Electric Catalog or the Free! sequels. What do they have left to work off on? What reference material do they still have intact. Then there's another hidden problem. At this point in time, they haven't been producing anime in years - The artist or production drawback may set in as they've never hold a pencil in a long time. Will they fuck up? How long will it take to finish production? The usual anime production period takes 3 years to complete from start to finish. Kyoani might have been faster with this then, but that was back then.
> - And finally, the cost. Will they still be paying their animators with normal wages after all the potential lawsuit settlements, new building, expenses of new equipment, and organization restructuring? They might not be able to promise good pay anymore. Normal studios struggles to do that as is, and Kyoani is starting over. Good wages in the animation industry isn't feasible and never has been. Kyoani might have to cut down costs on equipments, lay off employees, or lower wages.

All that considered, I predicted that they might need 4 years to get back on their feet. Or 3 years at best, if somehow everything went right. Feel free to add in your thoughts on what else might happen with the situation.

They need to get the government in to take a look at the anime industry.
It's supposed to be a source of national pride and people around the world were shocked when they heard of both the fire and the litteral hovel they created their art in.

I'm hoping for the best, but when half your team gets killed and the other half are completely traumatised, what hope is there? Money can only go so far. The guys at Kyo ani are almost completely broken now.

It's finally starting to sink in for me, and I feel nothing but despair.

We don’t know

>Because they're making fans worried for half a week now

No one gives a shit about the fans dude. The families of the deceased don't give a shit about the fans. The survivors at least for the moment don't give a shit about the fans. The police doesn't give a shit about the fans, none does.
So stop believing you're at the center of the fucking universe.

>dying with a smile devoured by insects in a pool of your own shit
Nah I don't think so but you're sorta right.

How many people will come out looking like this? I heard 1/3 of the injured were in serious condition to the point that even one of them died.

Attached: 17535706_1484702238.2092.jpg (800x533, 89K)

>>In civilized nations the authorities and media don't give a shit about the privacy of the victim's families

On the contrary, the more civilized a nation is, the less the press is allowed to intrude in the lives of those affected by a tragedy. The US of A and the UK are pretty down the list of civilised nations by this standard. Japan is pretty high up. France and Italy are also pretty high up.

He could be among the injured or among the deceased, we don't know as there is no further information.
He might even have shut himself away for a week because he wanted to marathon a bunch of anime or a JRPG series and kept his phone off to not get disturbed, who knows.

According to game companies, VA agencies, comic publishers, anime studios life-threatening letters are calls are pretty "normal".
The government needs to step in and monitor every single SNS post from freaking anime fans, to see if there are any misbehavior among the crowd.
They need to put cameras in every single street corners, bugs in phones, and auto ID detecting software to protect the general public from tragic like the KyoAni incident.

it's time to face the music dudes, this dude is sucking satan's cock in hell, and no amount of money raised by sentai filmworks is gonna change his fate.

Well it could still happen. Kyoani had an unusually large amount of staffs compared to its peers.
Kyoani = 160
PA Works = 98
Madhouse = 70
Diomedia = 76

And these other studios, despite their low employee numbers, are able to work on multiple shows a season. What role positions Kyoani have have might be unnecessary or filler.

I really agree with you about Ishihara. He's a great director. I was about to say I can't wait for his next anime but then I remembered we don't know if that will even happen.

That's just wrong, my dude. If you didn't die from CO on site you're most likely going to be okay. Burns, on the other hand, can and will fuck you up even if it's technically not lethal burned area, but your body is weak or something.

There is only one trouble with this. They were already working on that one, and most likely (along with Hibike S3) they lost everything considering it was mostly preproduction.

Sometimes, when you lose something that you worked hard and you have to start all over again, it's better to start a whole different thing, because you'll never get the same result. (and it has the emotional attachment of the old staff all over it, which isn't a good thing in this moment)

Not really you can get poisoned and die later in the hospital from kidney failure, ischemia and other things. There are few treatments that people get in the hospital when they arrive with CO poisoning, the most popular being HBO.

Just keep changing until you find one talking aobut KyoAni if you got lucky

If I was Microsoft or Amazon CEO, I would offer free recovery services and free unlimited cloud storage for 10 to 20 years.

Well it takes time to indentify 33 burned corpses.

Ok that's nice. I wanted to go through some of the info that was posted.

Tim Cook made a tweet about the incident, he should offer too.

Also, consider their current employees.
They're not going to fucking sit twiddling their thumbs and wait years for damage lawsuits and reconstruction to get done. They have to put food on the table. A job in the anime industry isn't that well-paying to begin with, they cannot afford to do nothing in the meantime.
By the done Kyoani is ready to make anime again, a good amount of them would have moved on, probably to another studio. Not many people at that point would be willing to sacrifice their current stable job just to go back to Kyoani, which may not even last that long after going through so much bullshit.
They're absolute done for in my opinion.

I think what everyone here is trying to say is that they're worried and that they just want to know if the people they care about are okay or not.

It's hard to grieve if you don't know if they're alive or dead.

Realistic speaking, the guy who did it will release a book and give interviews.

They showed the photos from a paper and it look like that, looks like the were faxed so it looks like shit.

Why would the authorities care about the fans. You're not important shithead. The friends and family of the employees are the priority to get information to. You think the Japs give a shit about your fat western ass' anxiety over a fire that happened on the other end of the planet?

who's idea was it to take these photos with a resolution of 100x100 and only black and white.

Of course it would.

They probably know already. What it's left is to identify the bodies, to deliver them to their families.

Please don’t lump us Europeans together with Americans.

Looks pretty neat to be honest. Look at how evenly spaced the bottles are

Group 3 faxes conform to the ITU-T Recommendations T.30 and T.4. Group 3 faxes take between six and fifteen seconds to transmit a single page (not including the initial time for the fax machines to handshake and synchronize). The horizontal and vertical resolutions are allowed by the T.4 standard to vary among a set of fixed resolutions:
Horizontal: 100 scan lines per inch
Vertical: 100 scan lines per inch ("Basic")

Also looks like it might have been the remains of a tape library.

tourists only go to nice places

Shit. This already guarantees he is in the mess. He would have already notified is wife to not make her worry.

It says nothing interesting. From what I recall "we can't tell you anything, please see the police for official statements", and "please, medias, don't bug us".

Nobody is getting any info, not the families, not anyone. They are probably doing it for some dumb reason too.

>We are saddened beyond words that young people who aspired to work in the animation industry and gathered from all over Japan, and our employees who had spent many years creating works together, had their futures robbed in such a way. I'm guessing everything that survived the fire was destroyed by the hours of firemen hosing the thing down.

Probably because most of the injured ones are going to die. And if they survive, you can’t just say Jane Doe is alive but fucked up for the rest of her life.

Attached: 1563746846147.jpg (642x361, 45K)

You fags lack imagination. Just doing something like removing his fingers and amputating below the knee would leave him with life long disability and make everything a pain. More so when you throw in things like phantom pain syndrome. His life would suck until the day he died. More so since he'd be in jail without any home comforts.

To be honest, this is the only way to proceed. KyoAni is not made of detectives or they would already know how and why it happened, they just know as much as police. And is a risk to put a nervous CEO to give answers.

Why they moved that single bench to the edge?

that is so shocking and heartbreaking to see.

Yes they survived for 5 minutes at the end of the last episode after 7 episodes of deep exposition into how much it didn't happen.

4 hours of horrific bullshit followed by 5 minutes of "lol jk" does not patch things up. I'd wager it wasn't unlikely that many people watching it could in fact not stomach it to continue watching, so those 4 hours may have even turned into weeks or months.

So that they could sit on it and smoke, dropping ashes down to the street level.

Is Takemoto Chitanda's uncle?

Arsonist smashed his personal computer before committing arson.

This means will take some time to know what identity he used when posting on websites like 5channel.

COME BACK, YOUR WORK ISN'T DONE!

It was a relative to the bench the arson used to think about the incident.

I'm still upset. How such a tragic thing can happen to a cute studio. What a messed up world we live in

YOU HAD ONE JOB

Fuck, Fuck, Fuck, FUCK...

Fuck, does this mean...?

I'm so sad about this. I'm glad there are anons who share this feelings. Everyone else seems to have moved on.

Man fuck that spiral staircase.
It literally fucked everything up.

Yep that's right, he's still on vacation and will come to Kyoto shortly. He's in for a shock when he finds the studio burned to a crisp! Guess he should've charged his phone more often, but it's not that easy to do on a trip.

What is that?

He's either dead or among the ~9 who are seriously injured. It's going to take at least a week for them to officially release the names given that a number of the bodies were burned beyond recognition. They couldn't even identify the sex of one of them.

That's pretty unreasonable in this situation.
This is the biggest tragedy in Japan for a very long time.

Spiral Staircase acted like a natural chimney.

The black smoke spread faster than the fire on the first floor.

Attacked by CO2 in the 2nd and 3rd floor before the actual fire and the smoke was super black.

Why would Hirano be at Kyoani?

the stark contrast and sick twist between the first 40 episodes of clannad being a rom-com harem slice-of-life animu, then turning into probably one of the saddest tragedies in fiction, is almost like luring and baiting. It was truly criminal to produce this anime. Lure people in with funny jokes and pretty girls and then stab them in the heart like a psycho and leave the knife in there for hours.

Shit should have never been made.

Is that real?

I've had dreams the past few nights about what would have happened if I was there right as the fires broke out. Could I have stopped him? Could I have saved the people upstairs somehow by getting them out the windows or breaking down the door? Or would I join them in the flames as some filthy gaijin who couldn't do anything?

I know it's impossible and it is just a fantasy, but I still failed both times I had this dream.

I was always out of the stupid studiowars and all that shit.

To think their lives were gone over something so petty makes me feel like this isn't real.

So, if there wasn’t any spiral staircase, then the CO and smoke would have stayed first floor for a longer time? I am asking this because wouldn’t the other stairs would have worked in a similar way than the spiral ones?

man the next kyoani work is going to crush the box office in japan

who keeps asking this?

Offering drinks to the dead is an old thing there. It's often sake but water and other stuff will do nowadays.

Why?

The anime should have never been produced the way it was.
There is some sweet justice in the world that OP's missing nip was the director of the anime. Dude was a psycho and delivered a damaging piece of fiction to the world that most would have not been exposed to had it stayed a visual novel.

That hurts.

Then get burned down again for ripping off someone else. It's like potteryetry.

Attached: Clipboard01.jpg (636x361, 68K)

I... fuck.

I mean, seriously, fuck. At least with terrorism you can be angry with the perpetrators. But here it's almost surely the work of a bona fide madman.

I still am in disbelief that everytime we'll watch their works it will tainted by the toughts of what happened. For what? For absolutely nothing.

You mean the Evergarden movie? Probably. It's quite popular in China too so there's also that.

It's only going to get worse once they show how badly disfigured and crippled the survivors are. Some of them are bound to kill themselves.

That and obsessing about it too much doesn't really get you anywhere.

A little bit longer, yes. But yeah, the other stairs as far as I'm aware were also open, so it'd only be a few seconds longer. Even if the fire was away from the spiral staircase, they'd have had a few seconds more.

But the best design is still to have had fire doors and compartmentalised rooms. Even in an open plan building, just having fire doors would have almost guaranteed the safety of everyone on floors 2 and 3.

Attached: untitled.jpg (1230x695, 117K)

Some months ago I saw a twiiter and facebook poll about "which is your favorite anime studio", and Kyoani won both by a large margin.

What perplexes my the most is: Out of the, probably, hundreds of studios out there (being the majority of them in Tokyo), why Kyoani?

I know they are not saint of devotion of everyone here on Yea Forums but, they are -arguably- the most universally loved anime studio out there.

That's what shock me the most... destiny (or plain coincidences) is a bitch sometimes.

Oh. Thought they didn't have any. Somebody said the fire code was so bad there weren't even any sprinklers or smoke detectors.

>compartmentalised rooms
A few of the survivors were stuck in a restroom, weren't they? That's how they're still alive.

The survivors might indeed never come back doing any work again, either because it'll be physically impossible for them to do so, or due to trauma, etc.

And last one... well, the floor.
Maybe TV Asashi will show more things soon, they are with the comedians now.

Attached: untitled.jpg (1231x692, 88K)

>Why?
It only shows how filthy and secondary you are. Also doesn't matter if it's fiction or not a real person doesn't deserve to die like this. Yes, after story was cruel but as I said it was fix thanks to a miracle.

>fire doors
I read about those in a previous thread and I am more convinced now that yes, that would have helped them as much as a fire escape stairs. Sad that they didn’t have any of those.

Fire extinguishers only help to put out small, accidental fires. An inferno that engulfed the entire first floor in mere seconds wouldn't have helped at all. Sprinklers or smoke detectors wouldn't have helped either.

>muh sponsors

Attached: untitled.jpg (1228x692, 73K)

Yeah, but also because someone smashed the window and helped them get out. It undoubtedly bought them time.

Knowing people that have survived from terrorist incidents, a lot tend to cope reasonably well so long as they have good support systems in place. Japan isn't really the best place for it though and they massively understate the impact of mental health.

Just having these on fire rated doors would have made a huge difference for them, but full proper installation with intumescent strips would have saved just about everyone..

10 gallons of gas is going to overcome a lot of fire safety

Of course, but overclocking your AMD won't help you out much either.

Clannad

You could do both. It's emotionally helpful for some people to do stuff like lay flowers, even if it makes very little material difference.

I think his father gave us a grim reminder already.

But I see him there, smiling?

Drug is serious business there, a character from a Yakuza spin-off game had to change his face because the one portrayig him, from the Denki Groove guys, had drugs on his house.

NHK but it's over now

>"Old Woman Smashing Water Bottles" and "Dragon Ass band splitting"....
I sort of can't believe I stuck long enough to get this, and still can't process this whole Kyoani situation actuall happened.

This. I'd like to leave flowers.

Isn't NHK? They use pink numbers for the time

At this point. I am gonna give up. I won't say he is dead. But I won't expect he is alive either. Fuck this Shrodinger's cat scenario.

Honestly japanese news are comfy af. They consume news about kittens stuck on trees 24/7, no wonder they don't know shit about the world outside.

This is because official funeral hasn't happened and some funerals are private not public.

You won't be able to leave flowers at a private funeral.

Turn fuji on

My favorite, the horoscopes

Its fucking over, man.

All the more reason to respect the madman Nishizaki, mastermind of Yamato. He was caught with a full auto M16 with grenade launcher (Scarface model), artillery shells/grenades, and in possession of a speedball of Heroin/cocaine - all aboard his private yacht.

He did a few years in prison, but what a way to roll.

That's because Japan is a very peaceful country, literally almost no crimes. Normally, that is.

And sometimes they hear about massive tsunamis and nuclear accidents

I wonder if Lux's attempted burning at the stake will be in the Evergarden Movie.
Could be very painful to watch if it is.

Kyoto major apologizing

His smile and optimism no where to be seen

>Japan is a very peaceful country
So what, most of the shit people talk about in western news isn't local crime. It's wars on the other side of the globe or some revolution somewhere or some sanctions or tariffs or other shit that realistically has nothing to do with them. Nips could worry about that shit too, but their propaganda machine doesn't hype that foreign politics stuff for some reason. Unless it's about Korea of course.

Don't believe his lies

there's lots of crime. It's just that massively heinous and violent crimes are rare, and lots of murders are marked as suicide, so whatever. It's still generally a safe country.

>In civilized nations the authorities and media don't give a shit about the privacy of the victim's families
Civilized nations don't care about the individual, about freedom or about the People?
What? Do you read what you write? Do you even think, user?

I love him

Better that than the manga-ka caught with Cheese Pizza

>"Takemoto would always send us tickets for the movies he made, and we would always go see them. My son was really kind. To me, he was really a more-than-perfect son."

Holy shit that hits hard.

>Will they still be paying their animators with normal wages after all the potential lawsuit settlements
There will be few if any lawsuits directed at KyoAni itself. The building they were using was RENTED. Meaning any fault in the building's design will fall on the people who designed and built the thing. This also isn't the US where people will sue when they see money signs.

>hovel
KyoAni was a humble company. Unlike Ganax, Madhouse, Bones, JC Staff, and PM, they did not want a large building to show off with. Most of their resources were dedicated their staff and towards animation, not a big flashy building.

The havey 2 other studios/buildings besides Do. Their largest building is their corporate HQ which has some animation departments in it. They also have the KyoAni shop which used to be their main animation building before moving into Studio 1 (it's where Air, Clannad, Harsuhi, Lucky Star, and most of K-ON were produced). It's possible they could convert the KyoAni shop back into a studio and move the Shop somewhere else to save money.

There's also a a studio in Tokyo that KyoAni sent most of their works to from 2015 onward to to help with CGI animation. They said everything that KyoAni had ever sent them is still on their servers and they have back-ups off sight as well. This includes storyboards (as they were all scanned as well). This includes the VE and Free Movies, along with some of Maid Dragon Season 2.

This is why insurance and workers comp are a thing dumbass. And KyoAni had some the best paid employees in the industry. Japan has some of the best Government help programs when it comes to disasters like these as well. Not to mention all the donations they will be receiving over the next year or so. Most of the employees will not leave unless they deride to close down permanently.

I'm a Triggerfag and I absolutely won't do that. This was too much, I've lost my will to bander after this.

that was the one from Kenshin

>Gettyimages

What the hell?

"Takemoto-san’s father: “I’ve seen every new movie that he sends us free tickets for. He is an incredibly kind son. He is a son that is too good for me.”"

Kind of the bare minimum he could do though.

Hatta meddled in the design, at least from the interior, the staircase was his idea

Who, Watsuki? Yeah, he got it SO hard with a 200,000 yen fine and having his serialization resumed less than a year later. Definitely worse than years of your life in prison.

Not if you have a shitty relationship with your father

Zenbu.

Beginning in 2008, Getty Images has created controversy for its methods of pursuing copyright enforcement on behalf of its photographers. Rather than pursue a policy of sending "cease and desist" notices, Getty typically mails a demand letter that claims substantial monetary damages from owners of websites it believes infringed on their photographers' copyrights. Getty commonly tries to intimidate website owners by sending collection agents, even though a demand letter does not create a debt.[26]

One photographer noted, "Courts don't like to be used as a means of extortion." In one case, Getty sent a church in Lichfield, Staffordshire, a £6,000 bill for photographs it used on its website, apparently placed there by a church volunteer. In this case, the church offered to pay Getty what it thought was a reasonable amount. The diocese's communications director said:

Getty was not playing ball or following the normal litigation or dispute resolution procedures and [I advised the church] to ignore them. We don't deal with bullies; we deal with legal threats appropriately. I told [Getty] by letter that's what [the church was] doing, that we were not going to play, and didn't hear any more.[26]

The Guardian described other instances in which Getty or other stock photo businesses dropped a claim when a website owner refused to pay and hired a lawyer. A law firm was quoted as saying: "Once we get involved generally Getty does back off."[26]

In 2009, Oscar Michelen, a New York attorney who focuses on such damages claims, said: "The damages they're requesting aren't equal to the copyright infringement," and "there's no law that says definitively what images are worth in the digital age."[27] He called Getty's effort to assess four-figure fines "a legalized form of extortion".[27]

Fuck so it really fucking exploded. So he most likely left jerry can of gas there.

Thank you sempai, that was an amazing thread, I posted a lot of pics there

In November 2013, Getty and Agence France-Presse were ordered to pay $1.2 million compensation to freelance photojournalist Daniel Morel for using his images posted on Twitter related to the 2010 Haiti earthquake without his permission, in violation of copyright and Twitter's terms of service.[40][41]

In July 2016, Getty was sued, unsuccessfully[citation needed], for over $1 billion by Carol Highsmith, an American photographer notable for donating her 100,000+ image collection, royalty-free, to the Library of Congress, when Highsmith found that Getty has been selling unauthorized licenses of her work (an instance of copyfraud).[42][43] Carol Highsmith found out about this when she received a letter from a law firm representing Getty demanding $120 for displaying her pictures on a personal website of hers.[44][45]

In August 2016, Zuma Press, an independent press agency, filed suit against Getty for alleged copyright violations and unauthorized licensing of more than 47,000 images.[46]

Getty Images has continued the practice that Corbis (whose license it acquired in 2016) has been criticized for of claiming copyright, watermarking and selling images that are in public domain, including images related to The Holocaust like the Warsaw Ghetto boy photo[47][48] or the Polish cavalry in Sochaczew photograph.[49]

>Houchuu is safe
good to know, always liked his voice

The irony is that Shirobako thread lasted longer than the sticky

Those pics were taken from a Getty's photographer? Then, the entire site is a bunch of criminal scam bullshit.

Looks like they just stole that picture from the fucking Chinese that took it in the first place.

Think bank on the intro episode of Chuu2. He narrated Yuuta's past.
