Sanji's emotional rollercoaster in whole cake was really touching and I feel like it partially fizzled out towards the end when Pudding turned into this tsundere with a really sudden and tiny justifying backstory. Didn't at all effect me when she cried over taking his memories.

I'd love it if eventually we could get a retranslation from the ground up just so some minor stuff (Zolo, Elbaph, the other stuff mentioned, etc) could be polished up and other minor references (breath of all things, which goes by something else earlier on in the english translation according to Sandman)

With a series like One Piece where minor things earlier on come into play in a bigger way later in the story, having to carry the weight of a spotty translation makes this stuff feel weird. I know it's not realistic but I'd be fine even with a digital-only version.

With a retranslation after the series wraps you could fix things like that to keep consistency for future readers. He is Wapol 2.0, but he's already more than him, both because of his much more important role in backstories as well as playing with two major world factions to get what he want instead of just sitting on his ass. If he kept their Zou image (with Kaido and Queen still being quirky yet threatening) they would compliment themselves better with Orochi. Right now it looks like too much.

How many anime-only adventures full SH crew got between their Dressrosa separation and now? We have Nebulandia, Heart of Gold, Gold, this filler and Stampede, at least. They were together more here than their ~3 days post-TS. Kinda weird when you think about it. I mean, it's common for fillers/movies to happen in non-existent time in the main story, but still it's weird.

Despite Oda's role in the making of some of the movies, serving as creative supervisor of Stampede), writer of Strong World) and executive producer of Z and Gold, the movies are still not canon.

There's no official stance. There's no official canon of One Piece, like Star Wars has. That being said, they have never influenced the main story in any way, i. e. Z's defeat by Luffy or Nami's abduction by Shiki are never mentioned. Also, few movies actually fit the timeline, Gold and FI happen post-FI with the whole crew, but there's no time unaccounted for with these two conditions in the manga. Even Strong World creates some minor inconsistencies.

I think the same way, Wano was supposed to be the arc where things finally got serious and after 22 years of filler we finally started DARK Piece. Kaido was introduced as a homicidal maniac so disgusted by the world and his life that he is willing to die and take everyone with him, i could relate to him since iw as also bullied in school and was pretty anti-social wanting to kill everyone around me. But Oda just couldn't stick with it and made Kaido into a goofy fucking drunk incapable of even killing a single girl.
Luffy was supposed to go all out and awaken gear 5 after had brutally crushed Nami's skull with his club and the Shogun was supposed to be a brutal hitokiri with a cool design like someone from Blade of the immortal so ruthless and strong that he forced Zoro to use the dormant ashura CoA from his eye yet now he is just some weak fodder with a looney tunes design. Isn't the point of canon that it shouldn't be relative? I. e. we agree that these things are important and call them canon. Anyway, it's not just these three that create continuity problems. The biggest offender is probably Movie 3 with the crew composed of 5 EBs plus Chopper which only exists for few minutes or so post-Alabasta before Robin reveals herself. There's also no time between Alabasta and Jaya arcs in the manga where some movies are set. Even SW has some of these (though they aren't that big).

Dressrosa's problem was that it was too much of the set-up arc. You need to create whole fleet from scratch, introduce Fujitora and his agenda, reintroduces Sabo and Revolutionaries into the story, and also set up their conflict with Blackbeard. The core conflict of Law/Doffy and Rikus/Doffy is somewhat lost in all of this. Especially with the birdcage introduced to force the alliance which drags the story immensely. CP0 are the only thing in the arc introduced in "harmless" way, without overtaking it, like Void Century and Ace in Alabasta, Blackbeard in Jaya etc.

I recall very little about the movie, but was it ever stated that his arm was cut DURING Timeskip? I thought his arm was cut, an unknown amount of time passed with him still being a marine, and then during Timeskip the pirate becomes a Sichibukai which triggers the events of Z.

Dude Wano is all themed out about the coming of a full moon. Even if you just read the table of contents of the one piece manga you can see that in chopper's arc he is carrying on Hiruruk's will, the same full moon theme tomfoolery, and that Sakura Blossoms are probably considered as native to none other than Wano Kuni.
Wano people have horrible diseases and the land itself is diseased by pollution. Chopper is gonna cure all that shit and finally complete Hiruluk's will, because he wasn't from fuckin Drum Island.
