The Kadokawa part has been growing and the NND part has been continously falling. Revenue is relatively stable since 2016 (which is bad) and profit is trending downtard since the fusion. Things are usually much more complicated than black and white. Kawakami fucked up his job as a CEO so much, that the Kadokawa part is absorbing Dwango and that the parent company changed its name to Kadokawa from Kadokawa Dwango.

Only starting this late with the creation of inhouse animation studios is one of the biggest failures of Kadokawa. With an inhouse studio they can give their authors more control, and don't need to deal with nearly as much bureaucracy. I hope that this will lead to a Yotsubato! anime, since they can give Azuma-sensei complete creative control.

I find LNs to be pretty brow medium of nip entertainment. It's all the cliches and recycled plot points with hardly any of the art that draws me to manga and anime, often written by a novice and reads pretty poorly. There are a few exceptions, what normally gets adapted is pretty bad.
