Well since COTD user isn't here I'll at least post stuff about the product stream to generate some discussion.
1. Anime News:
Despite there being news of a new protagonist, there has not been a change in anime series. The V series will continue! The current arc is the last arc for Aichi and co. and the next one will take us 10 years into the past, to when Shinemon (Shin) Nitta was a 3rd year in high school. Yes, you heard that right, Shin is the new protagonist.
The staff and studio of course is the same as the current anime. Akira Itou is responsible for the original concept and overall plot of the season like with the previous seasons.
The tagline of the new Shinemon arc is "Prepare yourself and bring it on!"
Was Kai allright when fighting against Aichi?
>Swaps Full Armor Dragon Buster and Nehalem's names
>Activates Sabel Dragonewt's skill in the wrong way
A comparison of the two animation timelines, featuring the ages of various protagonists
The new Shinemon arc takes place before the events of last year’s Middle School arc, when Shinemon Nitta was in his third year of high school.
Also to note, Chrono's age in V series is shown showing that he thus exists in the current series! He is 5 years in old the in the current arc. Aichi is 5 years old during the Shinemon arc.
user you got your characters wrong
The chart is saying that Chrono is in the 5th year of elementary school in the current arc
Shinemon Nitta, voiced by Syuta Morishima
“If thinking stops you in your tracks, stop thinking and start acting!
Something is sure to happen, as long as you take action”
Ah yes you're right. Ignore my mistake.
Rive Shindou, voiced by Makoto Furukawa
“Shinemon, do your best as you see fit!”
Mikuru Shindou, voiced by Yui Horie
“Declaring yourself the manager is fine and all, but you haven’t thought about the future, have you?”
Tatsuya Tachibana, voiced by Seiji Maeda
“Shinemon, you’re so cool!”
Mark Whiting, voiced by Daisuke Hyuga
“Leave this to me and my 18-year history as a ninja!”
Yes, that is mindbroken Misaki from the tragic accident. For those of you who complained they skimmed too quickly through V Misaki's backstory, well now you'll get more of it than you probably ever wanted. Prepare your tissues.
Misaki Tokura (and Assistacat), voiced by Hikaru Tono
“…you can stop now, that’s enough”
Butler, voiced by Keiichi Sonobe
“Understood.”
Tonori Fujinami, voiced by Shinichiro Kamio
“Your advance stops here!”
Nanami Gonomi, voiced by Nami Miyaki
“Let’s see how strong you are”
Esuka Hibino, voiced by Fuchigami Mai
“Card Capital already belongs to me! Stop being so stubborn, and vacate it!”
Yes, you might be wondering about Esuka's last name. She is very likely related to Arte Hibino, better known as the human host of GASTILLE.
Reminder that Shin's love interest in this show is in middle school while he's a high school senior
>new season takes place 10 years ago
>grade 5
how are they going to explain that?
Ruga Kaizu, voiced by Ryouta Takeuchi
Ryutarou Oyama, voiced by Ryotaro Okiayu
Yuichirou Kanzaki, voiced by Koyasu Takehito
Well if you didn't realize it by the OP, yes Yuichiro "WEAKNESS IS A SIN" Kanzaki is back. Don't worry his VA is still the same as Dio's. Although given how V has drastically changed the personalities of many characters from their original counterparts, it may very well be possible Kanzaki acts much differently in this series. Time will tell. Oh and Valeos' human host is here too.
Grade 5 is a Genesis(and Shin) exclusive mechanic so far and judging from the astral plane being visible on the season poster, it's going to be super plot relevant and not at all normal.
Yet another surprise, Shin has changed clans from the original series. He no longer sports Murakumo in favor for GENESIS.
Shinemon Nitta uses the Genesis clan, and his avatar is “Uranus”, a young aspirant that can open an “Astral Plane”, while “Valkerion” is a special Cray Elemental that can only exist in the “Astral Plane”.
Card Capital Team
As expected with his fascination with ninjas, Mark is using Nubatama, and his unit is “Akatsuki Hanzo”.
Rive was shown to use Tachikaze during the G arcs, but is using Nova Grappler this time, fighting alongside the unit “God Hand”.
The new character Tatsuya uses Angel Feather, and his unit is the remake of “Cosmo Healer, Ergodiel”.
(Rough translation of the names:
Mark’s Unit is something like “Fiend Demonic Stealth Dragon, Akatsuki Hanzo”
Rive’s Unit is something like “Battle Fist Dragon, God Hand Dragon”.)
It would make sense for Kanzaki to act differently. He didn't go full weakness is a sin until he lost to Ryuzu.
Esuka’s Team
Esuka uses Great Nature, with the talented fox “Isabelle” as her unit.
Nanami uses the remake of “Arboros Dragon” and Neo Nectar, while Tonori uses the remake of “Agravain” and Gold Paladin.
(Notes:
Esuka’s Ace is something like “Great Sage of Dark Shadows, Isabelle”
Nanami’s remake is “Arboros Dragon, Sephirot”
Tonori’s remake is “Knight of Fury, Agravain”, an old Megablast Unit for Gold Paladin.)
In case you wondering "Gee this all sounds neat, when does it start?" well it starts..... in a month. Yeah, this is a lot sooner than expected which cuts the current arc to just 14 episodes in total since there will be a special to shill Shinemon the week before it starts. Makes you wonder if they'll tie this arc into Shinemon in some weird way?
The new anime arc starts August 24th, 2019
This is the story of “Shinemon Nitta”, the future manager of Card Capital.
10 years before the reunion of Aichi Sendou and Toshiki Kai, the card shop run by the Tokura family “Card Capital” was going out of business.
Then came the attempt to take over the store by Esuka Hibino, the owner of a major card shop.
In order to protect Card Capital, Shinemon Nitta stands up as the “Self-proclaimed Manager”!
Despite a new arc and characters we're still sticking to in-house bands. Forget the days of PSYCHIC LOVER or JAM PROJECT or any other non-Bushiroad affiliated band. They'll probably never come back.
Forgot to mention the ED is Gift by Argonavis. The OP is Lead the Way by Aina Aiba, better known as the VA for Tokoha in G NEXT/Z.
Zero?
2. CARD GAME NEWS
First up is “Uranus”! His two abilities are:
[CONT](VC):If your (VC) has five or more force markers, your back row center (RC) becomes an astral plane.
[AUTO](VC/RC):When placed, [COST][Soul-Blast 2], get an Imaginary Gift: Force, and put that marker on your (VC).
Put 5 Force markers on your vanguard circle
Your back row center rear-guard circle becomes an “Astral Plane” (put an astral plane marker)
You can now call “Valkerion” to the Astral Plane!
Yep, you read that right. GRADE 5 exists now.
“Valkerion”
– Grade 5 / Power 70000
– Part of your main deck of 50 cards
– Cannot be ridden
– Is retired when placed unless it was placed on an “Astral Plane”
“Astral Plane”
– “Astral Plane” is indicated with a marker (external aid like gift markers)
– Only Genesis can open an “Astral Plane”
– Unit on “Astral Plane” can attack
– Any unit other than “Valkerion” is retired when placed on an “Astral Plane”
It is worth noting that Valkerion is a Cray Elemental so technically he can be put into ANY deck. While only Genesis can summon him it may be possible other decks can too in different ways, or even that they get their own special Grade 5s. Who knows?
I'm getting to it. It will be the last part.
Just a little visual showing the above info.
inb4 Not!Char Ryuzu is the final boss of the arc and causing more dimension fuckery happened while spouting MUH IDEALS
Bushi's in-house artists aren't going to shill themselves
Well it took 8 and a half years but here we are. The 9th Trial Deck will be none other than Shin's!
Cardfight!! Vanguard Trial Deck V-TD09 “Shinemon Nitta”
Featured Clan
– Genesis (includes 1 type of Cray Elemental)
Includes
– Pre-constructed deck of 50 cards (16 types), inclusive of 4 holo cards (4 types)
– 5 Gift markers
– 1 Astral Plane marker
(Out in Japan on September 27th, 2019) For non-Asian territories probably a month later.
Sure feels weird seeing new characters on the upcoming booster packs. Oh and since the characters are shown on the cover, expect 4 new gift markers with characters on them.
Cardfight!! Vanguard Booster Pack V-BT07
Featured Clans
– Genesis
– Nova Grappler
– Nubatama
– Angel Feather
Total of 80 types + parallels
(Out in Japan on September 27th, 2019) Again probably a month later for non-Asian territories.
(Note: The Pack’s Japanese name is 神羅創星 Shinra Sousei, which is roughly something like “Divine Genesis”)
A reminder:
The 2018 product cycle was about establishing the 24 Clans, the 2019 product cycle is about expanding the concepts of those clans and bolstering existing strategies.
Let's see how Bushi approaches this because I am a bit skeptical at what the fate of the current clans are before all these new decks come in and possibly replace them.
I don't know how I should feel about this new gimmick. I remember getting excited for G unit but at the end it just made building decks stupidly expensive.
Well at least Grade 5 is in the main deck instead of its own thing.
And here is your product schedule for the majority of Year 2 barring the last two months, March and April of 2020.
September
Trial Deck – Genesis
October
Booster Pack – Genesis, Nova Grappler, Nubatama, Angel Feather

YES, FISHING SEASON IS RETURNING AGAIN SOONER THAN ANTICIPATED. AREN'T YOU SO EXCITED FOR MORE TIER 0 NONSENSE.

And I forgot the link. Hopefully a solid release date soon.
I think the goal is to ease Gfags into the idea of main deck strides before the inevitable G reboot. Genesis already has equip gauge, they didn't need to make up a new unique mechanic just for them.
So what the hell is going on? Are they ending this season after the cour ends to make room for this until 2020 or are they running at the same time?
>last arc
So what is it going to go Aichi>Shinemon for a year>Chrono? If that's the case then man bushi keeps fucking up at giving us a proper ending for the Aichi generation
This is the fourth arc of V. It's taking over the same timeslot and TV stations as the current one too so the current arc will end in 3 more episodes.
>Amazing fight, build up is amazing. Genuinely pumped for once, feeling like Kai might not job
>Double heal
>"Oh well that's fine, Kai is a jobber an anyways, was a fun match"
>then they start cheering for Kai to get his own double heal.
>All that hype and build up for the episode, it's gonna happen
>Damage check Ji Endo
I've been given hope and had it torn away from me. It's like meeting a girl at a bar, hitting it off, going to her place and just as you start going for it she goes "I have a boyfriend"
I feel cucked and backstabbed.
It's likely this is actually a long drawn out three generation story arc dealing with time and dimension fuckery. Expect a triple conclusion in Cardfight Vanguard: Chrono or Cardfight Vanguard: Final Chapter
I was a fool for thinking Bushi knew what they were doing with the ending to the Aichi gen. Maybe they'll get it after Shinemon but that seems doubtful. Would be weird to go back to Aichi after Shinemon ends. Here's hoping we get something before Chrono at least even if it's just a graduation special or something
>Pervs over his niece
>Goes after Chronos young aunt
Shin's a really weird guy.
Misaki is his cousin in V.
Shin is Misaki's cousin in the manga/V timeline so it's actually A-okay to perv over your 10 year younger cousin
>3 episodes left
>not the slightest hint at pic related
WHAT IS HIS ENDGAME?
>Kai lost again
fuck this show. The reboot has been nothing but letdown after letdown.
Final episode cliffhanger. Main cast at the Tatsunagi mansion when a massive exposition/plot twist scene happens and ending midway through Nome/Takuto vs Aichi
But Kai has always been a jobber throughout history.
I don't know how people haven't realized this.
Even when he had an entire season with him as the protagonist, he lost matches to hype up people all the god damn time.
Kai was right during Reverse, he's way below Aichi and Ren, and needs help if he wants to get remotely close to them.
The weirdest part is they spent 4 episodes to exposition about how to play vanguard at the start of this mini-season in order to tell the new audience for the timeslot how to play but now they'll do it all over again for the Shin season. It's bizarre. Those 4 episodes would've been great to have for the tournament instead or whatever the deal ends up being with
>1 episode for Ren vs Aichi
>1 episode for Ibuki vs Ishida
>1 episode for Aichi vs Nome and ending
What a mess
>4 Episode How to Play Vanguard arc
>1 Kyou Episode
>1 Kai Episode
>THREE Ibuki Episodes
>4 Episode "Tournament"
>1 Episode conclusion
Honestly nobody could've predicted this would be how things go
It's more than he's content with losing all the time now which . Even in the small chances that Kai did lose in the original anime series it had a good reason for it. On the chance that he did lose a match, he would stand right back up and come back with a vengeance. Even during the Z arc Misaki mentioned how how Kai was the only one who would never stay down which is why characters like CBD loved him for it.
The only exception was the legion mate arc and that was only because they wanted to show him at his lowest point
I get that.
It's just by definition, He Jobs a lot.
Most of his losses are to hype up/set-up the finale with very few exceptions.
It's gotten to the point where when I see a Kagero player Place 2nd or 3rd I always laugh "It's simply fate/Just like the Original"
It's a little tiresome, I love the character but going through these steps at the end of every season he's in is lame.
Kai was shirtless for the first time since he was created over 8 years ago, that’s pretty cool.
Kawanami will steal Asaka from Ren
I can't believe the only highlight for vanguard right now is a shin arc
>It's a double 6th damage heal episode
Argonavis is showing more promise than Ultra rare and Roselia so far at least. Something tells me it's going to be similar to the G soon where the ED's would sometimes be better than the OP's
youtube.com
link joker hen QA kind of cool because Kai realized he was a jobbers so he went to LJ on purpose.
So what ware the chances we will get an ep with Kid!Kai using Blaster Blade back in the day?
So, quick question, when are they going to confirm that the reboot was Gear Chronicle's fault?
February at the end of Shin's season when Ryuzu pulls out G5 Gyze or already completed Demiurge
>3 episodes of this arc left
>Getting a shin season
The hell was the point of this arc again. What the hell was that crossroads crap people were talking about.
This is such a mess.
>used to love tournament arcs in the OG
>really looked forward to the V tournament
>first episode of it sucked because it was all just shit montages while Ibuki went through his shit
>can't even be bothered now because not only are the fights super ass, but because some genius at Bushiroad decided that we need to have anime preview images during the streams, telling us who wins and loses 4 weeks in advance.
>the season ends in like 3 episodes anyways.
This shit might actually clock in worse than Asia Circuit or even Legion Mate.
You don't get it. This is the crossroads. It's set between the Shin and Chrono seasons that actually matter
Who the fuck actually asked for a Shin season though?
The whole reason people were mad about Chrono gen and didn't want to jump on board was because the Aichi gen didn't get a proper ending. Now it's happening again but even worse because it's being replaced first by a season focused on the damn card shop manager.
To track people into dropping money on one last Ezel.
The Ibuki stuff was good but this mini season was ass, feels like they wrote it with the assumption it would be 2 cours at least but then got told Shin was starting mid season so we got fucked.
Some people wanted a Rive prequel once the new protag announcement was made. Also, Shin's been around since day one of the show so finally giving him his own story is really nice.
Even the flashback in stride gate showed that he was actually a pretty cool dude back in the day
So this season is ending already? That was it?
How are the current cards going to even work in a prequel? Won't it be weird for even stronger cards to shop in a series like 10 years in the past?
Just Gear Chronicle things
They explain all time and contradictory shit in this franchise
Two mystery sets are probably Chrono gen right? So around 36 episodes for Shin gen?
They likely are which means two close waves of Gear Chronicle support like what happened with Nova Grappler.
EB06 was Kamui and Beast Deities
EB07 was Miwa and Heroes
We're probably getting Ryuzu and Bind Time/Chronofang followed by Chrono and Chronojet
sounds like a worse version of what happened to GZ wen they decided to randomly drop the reboot on people
Ok but why
The meme rerum of the OG anime I get, but this?
>Stride Gate > Original Season 1 > Link Joker > Girs Crisis > G > Z > NEXT > Reboot/Reboot cont. > Legion Mate > Asia circuit > Vanguard Koshien
Honestly.
Weren't there Mini Van G episodes too? Will they FINALLY be uploaded?
The point was to wrap up the aftermath of the last arc. Get all the deleted people back to normal like Kai, give Ibuki more of a character, and help the club stay active and reunite with Kourin. Basically everything happened but the last part. The tournament is just a framing device to focus on specific relationships between certain characters.
Mini Van G was manga only if I remember. There's also Mini Van Hi! which is for the reboot
I think on paper this arc is a good idea. Just it got rushed and sacrificed for Shin. Should've been 2 cours at least like the other 2 arcs in this series
>Link joker, G and GZ that high
>>Stride Gate > OG S1 > Girs Crisis > G > NEXT > Link Joker >= Reboot/Reboot cont. > Z > Legion Mate > Asia Circuit > Neon Messiah > Koshien
FTFY
I'd put the reboot Infront of season 1 of the original personally.
I think this season as is would have been fine if they just took out the tournament. The tournament being rushed gives the impression the season is rushed but they still hit the major narrative points they needed to. Well I still don’t know how exactly they’ll handle the Kourin part.
Yeah taking out the tournament entirely would've been for the best. Just have Kai fight Aichi to test his re-awakening and stage an Ishida fight with Ibuki. Then we'd be fine
I guess they decided to do it because A. It’s an easy way to bring characters together and B. It was part of the manga at the end and this is still a manga adaptation.
the tournament feels like Itou's personal attempt to piss off people who keep asking for tournaments in card game anime
Itou is also doing Shin so I guess don’t expect a tournament for that one either.
It’s not really his fault but more of the limitations of doing a monthly manga serialization. You can only put in so much in a 20 page chapter each month and a proper tournament arc would take a super long time. So, he decided to scrap that and focus on characterization and interactions that align with the themes he had in mind and he let the OG do the proper tournament arc while he was overseeing it.
Fair enough. I do wonder if they'll change up how the manga handled the finals because it looks ridiculous
>Caro is getting a new vairant
YES
Hey user, youre alright in my book.
Finals are shaping up to be better with at least two featured matches. I still don’t know what the last episode will be about. God I really hope it’s not an encyclopedia one. We cannot have that right now.
>the absolute state of Shion
>tfw Morikawa is the real highlight of the episode in a non comedic sense
Never thought I’d see the day
>Inb4 they stopped the BF anime 2 have 2 seasons of VG running side by side
Can't wait to be buttfucked by her and Sonata next december... shit
They should stop VG and give us BF back since they clearly have no idea what they're doing.
>Bushiroad teams up with new animation studio
>expect Buddyfight anime to return now that they have the studio
>first two works are for new mobile game Lost Decade and new card game Rebirth For You
Never ever BFfags
It got canned for a reason. I guess it wasn’t popular enough or something. Or the card game is dying so they’re pushing collab sets like crazy. It is definitely not a norma occurrence.
G is actually a pretty fun watch going back to it. The comedic slice of life easily beat out the blandness that other arcs offered
You know considering how Ace was one of the best card game animes I watched, it can only go downhill from there.
You cant go fucking with yugas optimism.
G is super underrated. People need to understand serious VG arcs are nowhere near as good as comedic, slice of life stuff with good character interactions. It's one of my top seasons and just gets hate because of fights and coming off the coattails of the original.
I am referring to G s1 by the way
Well one of the reason why it was so heavily disliked was because how they skip 90% of the fights right into chrono raping someone.
I like G but they dropped the ball as a cardgame anime when its more like "We live our life around the cardgame without the cardgame". Thats until Kanzaki showed up and gave it more focus.
>I guess it wasn’t popular enough or something
It was one of the top selling TCG's in japan which is why it's so irritating. Bushiroad has this idiotic mindset where if it isn't at the very top then they'll just toss it out and start fresh instead of trying to fixing or expanding their current franchises
I heard sales were down from the OG BF era.
Sales were low but it was still within the top 10 highest selling properties and still turning a profit.
The issue was the animation studio being bought out by Sunrise
A reminder that you will only get 1 copy of the Draw PG reprint and it will not have a RRR version, so be a good goy and just buy a playset of the RR Draw PGs
>Expecting Itou to give a fuck about tournaments when he blatantly hates them
Trying to develop a Vanguard "culture" in the show was an interesting move and paid off somewhat but it definitely could've used less Chrono insta-winning on first stride
So what are our expectations from this now that we know the arc ends very soon and Shin prequel is coming.
>Dimension 12: Memory That is Neither Past nor Future
>It's the finals, between Miyaji Academy and Fukuhara. Aichi Sendou entrusts the last fight to Naoki Ishida, and faces off against Ren Suzugamori during the first match. While Ren enjoys the fight, his PSYqualia activates, showing him the destiny he had lost.
Still close to the other theories but nowhere near as hype something something GC fuckery
They would've won if they followed his idea
>losing to TCGs based around digimon collabs
Battle Spirits only does well during a Digimon or Kamen Rider collab. Most of the time it sells significantly worse than Buddyfight
Will there even be a glimpse of the best fight this tournament?
Kai cheated his way through the fight but the judged wanted to see if Aichi would call him out
>midseason break for prequel shit
>no money left for this episodes
>rused meme storyline with kai
>only good episodes were the deleted mini arc
>no buddyfight anime for this shit
>whole anime of recicled ideas and executing then worst than 8 years ago
>literally killing G for this
>TD cards better than half of the clans already
Can we declare the reboot anime as the worst thing to happen in this franshise already
>they really thought cashing in on not even a decade of nostalgia would go over well
It's without a doubt the most boring so far. Absolutely no way to generate a discussion if we already know whats going to happen. And the few discussions/theories that were brought up have been basically thrown out the window now considering there's just 4 episodes left
>still pushing the "BF died for VG meme"
It wasn't Vanguards fault, but it's obvioius that Vanguard has higher priority over Buddyfight. Otherwise Vangaurd wouldn't have had two shows on tv the same time when Buddyfight went down
How would time fuckery explain stuff like Shin now being Misaki's cousin instead of uncle?
It's Gear Chronicle. They don't gotta explain shit.
Chronojet approves of cousin relations also
Just remember how Shin had strides during that flashback on G that was set before the original. I think he even used G Guardians that were explicity introduced as a new thing a few episodes before
>meme
Imagine thinking the reason they axed BF was anything other than to double production for VG and work on a new TCG while working towards a fusion of weiss and BF
Don't forget about the QULTY rushed shitshow that was BTCP
Maybe Shin just added strides and stuff to the flashbacks so it'd be easier for Chrono to grasp
It's almost like the company behind it and all of the show's CG was bought out
It's almost like it they were looking for a reason to sell it
The studio was constantly producing bombs outside of Buddyfight
Thanks for proving my point
You're welcome. Anyways a studio can't sustain itself entirely on Buddyfight and low grade ecchi trash
>How would time fuckery explain stuff like Shin now being Misaki's cousin instead of uncle?
The Time sliptting nut
Is this the most random reference yet?
The jet that nut through time?
> Damn, I wish this one makes the cut, and become upper midcard manga
Not going to happen.
It's boring, not enough waifus ( and the main girls are terribly boring ) not enough interesting sources for conflict ( writer literally just blew their plot load on Kars making him too perfect )
Made the mistake of having a busted ability who can make anything happen when the plot is that there is nothing. Because it's magic the writer can bullshit anything they want into happening or bullshit anything they don't want, ruining suspension of disbelief either way.
Antagonists are too cartoon villain. It's even worse because there was a huge opportunity for character development and conflict there. Instead of antagonist outright killing, he could just do it when no one is watching and build suspense and horror, and actually begin addressing the obviously central plot aspect of "is playing the game good for us?". This is something that this show will need to focus on for longevity due to no apparent shounen powerlevels to drag out seasons, but the writer jumped the shark and rushed things so now it's going to seem like bullshit when the plot finally gets there.
CFV(2018) could have been good, but probably due to bushiroad pressuring it was rushed and lost it's chance.
Are you talking about Vanguard or Jojo
rather have Spectreanon then deal with an Asterisk poster and this bad formatting
>He is 5 years in old the in the current arc.
BABYYYYY
CHRONOOOOOO
I can't be the only one who prefers the older serious preview dialogue over these comedic ones for the reboot
Actually that's 5th grade in the elementary school, Chrono is 5 years younger than Aichi
When was the last time previews were serious
>not enough waifus
This unironically. Misaki is so masculine that she might as well be a boy, Kourin is really just there most of the time, and then the good ones like Yuri, Asuka and Suiko rarely show up at all. Aichi is the closest one to being top girl and it's unfortunate
Z. Right before the reboot
Hopefully Cardfight Vanguard: Chrono goes full Girls Crisis by giving us Rin, Luna and Am at the start. Hell, make it a harem anime
>it's unironically a thing
I surprised it made to closed beta status
>Aichi is the closest one to being top girl and it's fucking great
FTFY, and an obligatory reminder that Japan agreed that Aichi is the top heroine of the show
holy kek absolute state of Yugioh
I dont get it
What's the problem? Is the guy not adult Yuya?
Apparently the baby is Yuya with the text says "Congratulations Yuya for his 1st birthday", then again aren't the Yugioh mangas since GX differ a lot from the anime they are based on?
Yuzu married Yuya's dad, Yusho. Yuya is the baby in the first panel.
They differ, but Arc-V anime was a total flop in Japan while Manga remained consistently popular.
It's the true canon now.
im pretty sure it was more hated than selling badly.
But I guess Arc-V ended with a time paradox/lopp(?) where yuzu is the mother of all the Yus?
>>THREE Ibuki Episodes
>>>>imfuckingplying that wasnt the highlight of the arc
It was the best part of the arc but one might say the division was a bit uneven comparatively
They just went radio silent for some odd reason, nose to the grindstone working?
RED TEAM RULES
God no.
>Not!chrono
>the cooler chrono
>milf Yuzu
Oh god oh jesus and I thought yuyas normal mom was fucking hot.
Well that's one to end a manga
Based aster
I liked the episode overall. I've kinda given up on the cardfights but I wish the animation was more consistent. Even if the original series was pretty static, it still looked nice.
Honestly this
Its still 1/4 of the season
A full blown harem Vanguard is untapped potential
>people keep crying about wanting something new
>Shin gets announced
>no one cares
They can announce a completely separate spin off and nothing will change. This franchise is forever doomed to obscurity.
People care about Shin but the issue is that it's coming out too fast. We basically got a 3 weeks notice that the current run is rushed as fuck
If I wanted haremshit with a denser than a sack of bricks MC, then I'd read a romcom. That is part of the shit that ruined Gundam Build Fighters in the Try sequel, and harem is garbage as a whole.
I think part of the reason why Shin prequel isn't getting attention is because the Gfags wanted G and will now have to wait at least 6-7 months to get that, and differentfags know that it's going to tie into G as well as reusing G characters, like that shitty Narukami guy.
Everyone had their own expectations and/or wants and Shin threw all of that around. Nobody even considered a prequel show that also ends up tying into G
it had high quality morikawa scenes.
that alone saves it from being really bad
>that opinion on wanting shit not devolve into harem
My nigga
This. Shin will probably have a decent couple of threads then it will inevitably die again.
>I can't be the only one who prefers the older serious preview dialogue over these comedic ones for the reboot
I love them and think a lot of them should be actual episode dialogue, they make the characters feel more like friends
>Misaki is so masculine that she might as well be a boy
Only because they only let her wear the school uniform now. And I'm not even talking about just fanservice, she used to wear /fa/ as fuck clothes, which showed she has a more feminine side. I had the same problem for most of G where she dressed as your typical anime mom
>I had the same problem for most of G where she dressed as your typical anime mom
By anime standard Misaki is already an old hag by then
>What's the problem? Is the guy not adult Yuya?
Yuzu was hurled to the past (I think she was from there originally?) and married Yusho so she could give birth to Yuya (and the other 3)
The highlight of the arc was Kyou learning to get it up again
Kai’s was better
>Sabel Dragonewt bought out
Don’t tell me someone fell for the “into the soul” thing and thought it was part of the actual skill.
>no money left
Again. Vanguard like most long running anime has a staff rotation. This episode was sacrificed for the final 2 fights. Especially that director who really likes Ibuki that might as well be the ace of the show
Kyou's arc ended with him getting idol pussy though
She was only 20 in G, 22 in GZ. She still had a good 3 years before being a hag
And I thought the koshien was bad
Beep
The Koshien is below average but it could've been much, much worse. It still has decent character moments
or the buyout bug hit like it randomly does to this community
Alive Tokimi soon
Boop
>Inb4 she got aids
>got aids from not playing enough vanguard
Say something nice about the first and last two victims of anime cancer in Vanguard
they should have fucked
Enshi was 7 or 8. She'd have to teach him everything
Cute!
Dragonewt is pretty much a staple in Kagero decks, and given how V-EB06 was in short supply it is bound to happen
>Bushi thought that shoving four clans into a single Extra Booster set with two of the clans being huge memes compared to the other two while short printing the set is a good idea
>have to get the Blasters and Star Corps out
>too many cards for a mini booster
>too few cards for an extra booster
>Za Greato also shows up in the manga and there's no upcoming Kagero sets
>anime's already reaching the point for this stuff
>forgot Kamui's still around and Novas are kinda important
>now have Kagero vs Novas to shill properly
>toss them in the set
>don't want to spoil the anime so chuck them in with royals and link joker way at the end
>push Bermuda up a few months to prevent having dead spots
>set has extra in the name so not enough preorders
>set now short printed
>insert current situation
EB06 was the greatest shitshow in V
>and there's no upcoming Kagero sets
The next set was VEB07, a kagero set.
Yes but then that would mean delaying a card that showed up in the anime for another month and while Ibuki is now Messiah'd up, Kai would be running around with the same old DOTG.
We'll at least have more fan theories to discuss
I just want to see Nome fight
>Prequel
>Rushed shit
>Powercreep
>Suprised epople dont care
The real problem is that the game has been shit since VBT03 and it's become apparent to everyone that Bushi didn't actually learn anything from the past 10 years. They're repeating the same mistakes that forced them to reboot the series in the first place.
EB08/VBT05 format is actually great and diverse with less of a 1st turn player advantage due to Gancelot existing
Said no one ever
It will easily have more to talk about than the reboot at least.
You could've just admitted that you haven't actually checked out VBT05 format.
Aqua Force just got a 1st place top at a VMC qualifier yesterday with Kagero(Blademaster + The Great) in second
>aqua force topping means going first advantage doesnt exist
the absolute state of apologists
Fucking Heroes topped a 52 person VMC, user.
I said less of, not that it's completely gone. Gancelot is active way faster going second and Gauntlet Buster will punish people investing on their 1st G3 turn.
will they retcon the card games again like they did in G when they shown stride G were already a thing before vanguard and G learned about them?
>android 4.1
Well shit I expected it to be 5.0 like DL
also
no need to retcon when the only issue is a grade 5 that's exclusive to Genesis, a clan that hasn't shown up in the reboot so far
>a clan that hasn't shown up in the reboot so far
How many steps ahead is Itou?
>inb4 we really get chronojet sinse we dont have GC in anime form yet
Itou claims he's thinking 2-3 steps ahead in terms of Vanguard content. Gotta say I like the idea to do a Shin series.
It's always done that.
>Misaki's parents having a tsukuyomi deck years before it should have come out
>Koutei having a functional d-police deck not only before BT04 when he was jobbing to Ren, but in the flashback where Yuri teaches him to play which is a pretty large amount of time because he was really shit.
Probably not. So far the V series' worldbuilding is a lot more consistent than past series. They're properly building the connection between original and G like they should have in the last series.
I think what this season was doing was showing the younger characters that will play a role in G while Shin will be about establishing the greater conflict that will have to be fully resolved in G since Chrono dealing with shit left sitting for years by someone else was all he did
>tfw Itou in charge of Shinemon
>less focus on the card game and shorter fights
>no tournament arcs
>make a show about a card game
>lean off the game aspect completely
Why is he like this?
His sensei is Kazuki Takahashi who had a similar outlook on the role of card games in stories.
>2025
>4th Aichi Reboot
>Card games are no longer shown
>Everything is settled through talking
>Finally get a tournament arc after 5 years
>People hype they might show card games again
>It turns out it's a Vanguard Zero tournament
>Everyone just stands around playing on their phones
>Doesn't show the phone screen outside them opening the app
This is our future.
Card games are more of a narrative tool for resolving conflict if things come down to it instead of "thing that must be done" for Itou
Forget 2025. We'll get another reboot in 2021 to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the franchise.
>2021: Aichi Reboot 2
>2023: Aichi Reboot 3
>2025: Aichi Reboot 4
Math checks out
Aichiverse where they fight over the OG Kai when?
>Cardfight Vanguard: Into the Aichiverse
>all of the various Aichis fighting over Kai
>surprise cameos are prototype female Aichi and Glyme Aichi
>league of villains are Ibuki, Chrono and Miwa
>Ibuki, Chrono and Miwa
>From the timeline where miwa is Kai's wife and Ren is chrono's father
>2031
>YGO gets a new series starring Yugi's granddaughter
>Buddyfight Ace finally returns
>Battle Spirits announces a Precure collaboration
>Bushi announces they'll reveal Aichi's dad to celebrate the 20th anniversary
>They announce a new series with a new main protagonist - Aichi's mom
>Dad turns out to be Glyme
>Misaki manages the store where the Aichis plan everything out
>it's the Misaki that married Ren and gave birth to Chrono
Shin is still a part of the V series so it's always possible that they come back to Aichi in a later arc. I still feel that the EX story might come into play somewhere or we'll see the appearance of Onimaru and Verno in Aichi's generation.
>misaki and ren
Now that's an odd ship, how fucking seething is Asaka?
>Like they should have
No, not really. It spoils the fun, knowing the characters antics before their series even starts.
I enjoyed being thrown into G and learning about everyone as the episodes went.
The best thing about this anime is the Bang Dream! songs
Well in this case it's better because you're getting a whole season dedicated to those characters rather than a couple episodes here and there. And it's not like the current arc has spoiled anything about the kind of people Shin and Mark were in the past, they barely did anything so far. It's more organized and better than juggling a cast that's too big like G's cast. And it's likely the older G characters won't be as prominent in the later arcs so this is their big time to shine and for us to learn as much about them as we can, so when they appear in smaller roles in later arcs we can understand their actions. It just works better this way.
I really want to see Kanzaki's downfall and Rive meeting Tokimi and Ryuzu
>It just works better this way
And that will only be judged after we're done with it all. So far, I don't have much hope in V.
V did a good amount of positives for its characters given the constraints
>ruined Kai,aichi,ibuki and Ren
>good amount of positives
I didn't watch V, how could they possibly fuck up Ren?
How did it ruin Ibuki? He's just as much of an autist in V as he was in G.
Instead of making him a reflection of aichi, they jsut moved the emotional center of that whole storyline to Kai, making their final showdown on S1 be a literally cuck battle that has no thematic cohesion sinse Kai lost
Renegade Ibuki was good, Gayon Ibuki and that whole arc didnt go anywhere with his anti VG autism
Ibuki realizing his hate was misdirected and only asshole vanguard players are the issue is taking it somewhere
the FUCK is Satoru Enishi doing in Boruto
>ruined Kai
It made Kai 1000x better. He feels more human with a wide spectrum of emotions and a much more understandable arc with a backstory that complements it.
>Aichi
I wouldn't say it ruined Aichi either. OG Aichi was pretty good up until LM but both their development was simply done in a different direction. OG Aichi focused on becoming more confident through getting better at the game. V Aichi focused on simply playing the game as a way to interact with others and gain confidence to be more sociable and make friends. They are both fine.
>Ibuki
Neon Messiah was a worse version of the Zombie arc Ibuki. Zombie arc Ibuki had agency and was just being emotionally manipulated by Greion while Neon Messiah was more or less being mind controlled by Oksizz. The reasons for anti-VG autism are also understandable even if they're not executed the best. I can get behind the idea of playing a game for fun and hating it because others around you create a toxic competitive environment where all that matters are winners. I can also get behind that same environment isolating you from enjoying the game and external factors like drifting apart from good friends just making it harder to enjoy. I can also get behind taking a break from the game to do some other hobby like Karate, and then coming back to give it another chance but being turned off again. Those are all relatable scenarios. And then this arc really solidified the character and made him compelling to watch.
>Ren
OG Ren's backstory never made any sense. He was normal and then one day he magically got PSYqualia and went down the dark path. V Ren had the history of paternal abuse that made it much easier for him to go down said dark path once he acquired his PSYqualia. He is absolutely a reflection of Aichi. Both have the same power. One didn't fall to temptation and ended up with friends and the other did and ended up jaded and lonely. It's simple and cliche but it didn't ruin the character.
Somehow not depressed enough
I love the beacon scene
The thing is, Kai really ie better in V
But they did him dirty by making his central conflict about surparssing the things that made Ren fell a thing that aichi did instead, that by proxy makes him a gigantic plot device in that arc.
Just thing about everyone that was in theat room on the finale, the only commob link is Kai, but aichi is the one that resolves it all
Ibuki did also get better, but far from soemthing I would call nice enough for him, like him beig mad that his friends dont talk to him anymore sinse they play thie game a lot then greion gives him a chance to change that would have been better
Kai's role in the story was to bring everyone together.
He is an unknowing arbiter of destiny, ensuring everyone gets to where they need to be
But at least they improved Kamui and Kyou
hey faggots, is Vanguard any good? I'll probably bite the bullet and marathon it until I'm in current season.
is it YGO tier? or is it rather like Duel Masters?
What do you define as Duel Masters tier? I think it's a good show with a few rough spots for trying to do things differently
It's kinda like Duel Masters in that it's a lot more comedic than serious but it doesn't go full on gag with jokes all the time nor is it too childish in its appeal. Unless DM does other things too. Also I know in DM it's a lot of CG battles with creatures and it's pretty crazy, Vanguard doesn't have any crazy monster battles like that.
I mean Duel Master was a gag series. it didn't take itself seriously. that kind of thing.
still sounds pretty fun. might give it a go then.
In that case it's more of a middle ground, not Yugioh bombastic and serious or Duel Masters gag heavy.
It's a fun show that's more about the spirit of the game and what it means to people
Remember to start with Cardfight Vanguard(2018) if you want to get caught up with what's going on
>The next time we see RP it will be the brave boys
I'm so glad we're done with Blaster Blade for a while.
>Unironically beliving this
Youre in for a rude awakening
Arabian knights and vikings > boring Arthurian shit
Having a second job
How much does being a depressing redhead in anime pay?
Emblem Master
[CONT](RC/GC):If your soul has seven or more cards, this unit gets [Power]+5000/[Shield]+5000.
[AUTO](VC/RC):When placed, COST [Counter Blast (1)], search your deck and drop zone for up to three cards in total with the same card name as one of your units and put them into your soul. If you searched the deck, shuffle your deck.
Variants Killer Tail
[ACT](RC)1/Turn:COST [[Rest] this unit], and put a card from your damage zone or drop zone into your soul. If you put a card from your damage zone, put the top card of your deck into your damage zone face down, and if your soul has three "Variants Killer Tail", Counter Charge (1), and [Stand] this unit.
Both of these cards are crazy good for the clan. What the fuck
Eh. Killer Tail probably won't see play. DI has too many good G1s and needing to run 4 of her is a pretty steep cost.
Maybe the VR will make her worth running. Also recycling shields from soul for Dantarian to get the 5k boost
>Playing Dantarian
The only way that happens is if they ban NLK or the new VR is Gun Salute levels of shit.
At last.
Weakness is a sin.
We already know that they won't be printing any more RP until next year. If we get a single RP set in the Shin anime it will be something totally different like Sanctuary Guards or Jewel Knights. At most there will be a RRR Blaster Blade Burst for the obligatory child Kai episode.
>RRR
>Implying it wouldn't be a VR and could be a colossal meme just like Messianic Lord
I'm now curious to what the two mystery clans will the Gear Chronicle EB has
MLB is a good card though. The issue is there’s barely enough Blasters to make the deck consistent. It’s a card that gets better as more Blasters get made.
Tachikaze and Murakumo for maximum time fuckery.
Royals and Genesis. Aichi, Chrono and Shin will all team up together to take down the bigger threat.
>It’s a card that gets better as more Blasters get made.
That's the problem since we might not get more Blasters in except maybe Axe and the Swordsman of Light Blasters are only useful for their name only (does nothing w/o an Alfred Vanguard)
>Even more Chronojet
Pls no
Itou created Chronojet so it will probably make a return since he’s basically controlling this whole series.
Chronojet will return, but not until the G reboot. The upcoming GC stuff will be Ryuzu focused. Probably with a G5 Demiurge as the VR.
No.
G reboot is year 3
Yes.
That's for Cardfight Vanguard: Final Chapter the Movie
I wonder how prominent the pupils will be on Chronojet's new design
Source is Cardfight Vanguard G The Prologue by Itou
Based
She was livid when Ren popped up, grabbed Misaki's hands and asked him to join her
What happens to the hand if Ichikishima is face up and Jamyou was used?
Jamyoucongo's skill is not "Discard until you have 4 cards in hand", but "Choose 4 cards in hand and discard the rest"
Ichikishima's skill is "when you would count the number of cards in your hand, include the face up cards in your G zone."
Ichikishima's skill is only for "count" and not "choose"
The hand has 4 cards remaining!
never ever
>Implying Gun salute isnt based
It's so bad though
Deck gets broken if they get too many blasters. It's why they had to omit Blaster Sword even though it was in Aichi vs Naoki
Sacky =! Broken
Adding more Blasters makes it progressively less sacky
The deck is only missing a G1 balster and a G3, and condidering the card quality of blasters, having then wouldnt make the deck any less sacky
Sure, but any more than two and then you start getting into running 1-2 ofs for the name
The original is based, but the V version is absolute trash.
>When asked about why Shin plays Genesis Itou said they couldn't incorporate Genesis into the current V series arcs so they decided to give it to him in the Shin arc
Well then
Did he ever give a reason why Shin is now Misaki's cousin and not her uncle? That small detail really chaps my ass for whatever reason.
It's the most honest explanation
probably so the ages actually work. In the original anime Shin was 38. So he would be a 28 year old highschooler dating a 15 year old Mikuru.
>So he would be a 28 year old highschooler dating a 15 year old Mikuru.
Shin knows what's up.
Nah making him a regularly aged highschooler senior wanting to date a 14-15 year old middle schooler that's also his older friend's imouto is still pro
I'm pretty sure Rive is his teacher in this series? Are they considered friends though?
Rive's a bartender/host based on his design and they should still be friends
It's a cool card but also screams "why didn't you print me back in the OG era"
It needed G cards to go infinite either way. He's pure PM jank and I love him for it.
Will Gyze ever return? Will he get a well animated fight?
Yes and no
Why would he come back and not fight?
I never he wouldn't fight. I just doubt it will be well animated. Also who would be the host this time? Should've been Rin last time
Literally the only way to sell the clans nobody wants like Megacolony and Great Nature is with waifubait
Never forget that time Chaos Breaker Dragon possessed a trap then used them to wear cute clothes
Since it's pretty much confirmed at this point that these two are related, does this mean we'll be getting diffriding again?
Doesn't GN sell pretty well? They were top tier when their last set was released and furries have seemingly infinite money to spend on their fetish.
>Diffiriting linieage
Diffriding isn't hereditary and doing it again in New G would be weird
I believe Aichi was diffriden by Messiah when he pulled out MLB?
I LOVE HOSHIZAKI "CBD" NOA
Was he? Aichi seemed to be in full control there
I love their theme
youtube.com
Really? that kinda underminds the moment
Outside of glowing blue for a brief moment, there's no signs it was Messiah instead of Aichi
Meta update(may or may not be missing a few tournaments)
>Pale Moon
>404 Narukami and OTT not found
I call bullshit.
From the results I've seen, both OTT and Narukami are under performing in singles events while having a few tops in Teams.
Note that this chart is only for "major" events such as VGCS and VMC Qualifiers and only top 4 finishes
It's that one PM deck that stole 2nd place with Gun Salute and no heals.
Based Luciquer calling from soul over itoubbies and anti anti accel scum
You're 3 weeks early for that.
>actually running those shitty chimeras
>that shitty sb1 +3k or restand after boost
This build is too high IQ for me. I can understand being a gambler and cutting heals, but those chimeras are where I draw the line.
PM is shit. The only way you're winning a serious tournament is by high rolling and Humorous Chimera is one of their best cards when it works.
also helped they won worlds when they were still good
Narukami is actually underperforming despite the hype. Novas are surprisingly doing great even against Narukami.
This is just mind boggling. I think by the time the next list comes out the meta should be solidified. I expect narukami at or near the top. It’s absolutely destroying the locals scene from looking at Twitter.
The second week is normally when the format is done solidifying but we shall see
Nova Grappler actually has an easy answer to Narukami that requires little investment
What is that answer?
Riding Illuminal Dragon then calling Grantz to Accel 2 provides an easy 4 attack turn with little investment
>Swing Grantz at Vanguard or RG
>If they don't guard, +15k to Illuminal
>Swing with Illuminal. SB1 to restand Grantz
>If they guard Illuminal for 2 to pass or more, dump triggers(you run crits) on Grantz
>Swing at VG with Grantz
>If they guard, CB1 to give Grantz +10k and swing at the Vanguard again
It's pretty nice but you kind of have to hope they don't get any good damage triggers and you get some triggers to overcome that.
It requires some luck but even if that fails you can still use grantz to go after problem rearguards against a deck that doesn't have a lot of draw power
It's alright
Getting fucked by damage triggers is just part of playing Accel.
Illuminal can use its skill to let it hit over one damage trigger. It's at 2 damage triggers that you need triggers to hit.
>inb4 we get baby diffriders
>Still at it
How nice of you to join us
>tfw spectre is deader than dead
>VRAINS ending soon so probably never coming back
>have to zane post instead
What a journey it has been
zaneposting doesn't carry the smug asshole feel that spectreposting did
it's just not the same
Maybe Chronos would be good. He certainly has enough goofy faces for the job.
>still watching shitty prequels
I meant the Yugioh Chronos.
That works too. I'm so used to the dub that I didn't recognize Chronos as Crowler
>thread still alive
srry for not have been here for over a month
COTD:
Knight of authority Demna
AUTO: R: When it attacks a VG, and the attack did not hit, and a guardian was not called during that battle, [CB1]: opponent's VG takes 1 damage.
At least the characters get a good development, anyays I feel like cardfights are going to get more screentime because shin season is original and not a reboot.
Kulbau
ACT: R: [rest 2 RGs in the same column as this unit]: add a 5k power normal unit from drop zone to hand.
This is a good joke
This should've been a 5k
>manager on shin head
Cute!
>implying is not gonna be getsu
*tetsu
Is it you? The long lost live watch user?
Can we get this in accel?
Tetsu belongs to Emi.
Tetsu x Emi is one of the weirdest things to come out of the original show
Old man and Loli is a staple of anime
Still weird for Vanguard
I still can't believe he won.
>Instead of more goddesses, witches, and what not Genesis gets BUFF GODS
Considering the plot, should I assume that Card Capital literally cratered after Misaki's parents died?
