Everyone always praises Anno, but what about Sagisu? Nobody ever talks about the guy, except sometimes when the Rebuild OST (which is by far his weakest work on Eva) gets brought up.
NGE and EoE would definitely not feel as impactful and beautiful without iconic tracks like Rei I, Borderline Case, Heisoku no Kakudai or the various remixes of the ED.
I think a lot of Eva's appeal can be attributed to how well the soundtrack complements the visuals and themes, and that aspect is often overlooked.

Shirou Sagisa's work on Kimagure Orange Road was boring at best.

I'm exclusively talking about Eva.
A lot of the other stuff he did is somewhat bland, I didn't like how most of the Rebuild OST was a chaotic mess with little originality or variance, it reminded me of Sawano. The Bleach soundtrack was decent though, fitting for the series at least.

Also I don't really agree with what you said, there were some good tracks among what he composed for Kimagure Orange Road.

Gomen.

Thantos is where it's at. But yeah, the music really helped shape the world it is set it.

Okay, you're right. This ain't bad. I recently got the BD set. I'll watch it soon and reevaluate my shitty opinion on it.

Forgot pic.

He was also great in KareKano.

Oh shit... I totally forgot. I really like the music in Kareshi Kanojo no Jijou.

I know not his song but his string version of "Yume no naka he" was really beautiful. I want that song playing at my wedding.

>Thanatos
Among the songs written for NGE + EoE, I thought the best one was Everything You've Ever Dreamed. Too bad it was never used, I love the lyrics.

Discuss the best waifu theme music

There is a problem with talking about OST's on places like Yea Forums, ignoring the fact that most people simply don't posses the language to discuss it, and it is that most people don't even notice them unless it is an insert song. Most people simply passively absorb the music without ever realizing it is even there.

Thanatos (the instrumental in EoE) is one of those tracks that bring a wave of emotion over me. Also, hearing EVA music in Anno's Godzilla was cheeky and goes to show how well it's aged.

Obviously Rei I, though if False Regeneration counts it's a good contender as well.

He was instrumental in Evangelion's success.

>passively absorb the music
That's true of any anime with a bland soundtrack, but it's really hard to watch Eva and never notice the OST. Some scenes are memorable precisely because of the music, like Mother is the First Other playing while Shinji's ego dissolves inside Unit 01, all the breakfast scenes with Misato, or Asuka's last fight.

Usually it's pretty easy to pin down a show's aural identity when recalling it but with Eva it's impossible, he created so many different moods and distinct styles and none of them feel like they're not an integral part of the experience. Really amazing what he did.

>he created so many different moods and distinct styles
Isn't most of the OST greatly influenced by jazz/bossa nova, with very few tracks that clearly break from that style?

He's a hack just like Anno

No.

Thank you for the detailed explanation.

>what is inspiration
Also NGE's version is better.
