Don't put words in my mouth. The way she describes it, the big difference with Ishigami is that she thinks he's serious enough about this that he could get hurt. With previous confessions, she saw them as harmless and pain-free for everyone involved, whatever her response was. She never said or implied that she rejected everyone who had ever confessed to her. People assumed she was super pure.

What she was actually fretting over was Ishigami being super pure, and she had no idea how to let him down gently. She's scared of hurting him, and I believe that's why she rejected him. She doesn't think things are going to work out between them, and his confession reminded her of just how pure he is.

At this point I wonder if who believes it was casual sex is serious or not.
We already knew that she herself didn't believe in the same excuse she gave, so she couldn't have resolved to just have sex and leave it at that (not to mention that kind of goes against what little we know of her character). This especiallially because she believed she still had three months: it would be dumb to give up 4 days in without even having formed a real opinion, especially after she said more than once that she needed and wanted to get to know Ishigami better, that she was seriously intentioned to and that so far she only had a positive impression of him.

Ishigami isn't literally Yu. But seriously, I feel like this story is meant as a parallel and contrast to the recent arc with Prez and Kaguya, and as such there are several major important differences. Prez and Kaguya's thing wasn't that they didn't know about the other's bad side at all, that was how they were when they met after all, but about their personal discomfort with letting it show. Shirogane was already accidentally showing his weak side well before he was willing to show it intentionally. They knew and know one another pretty well, as has been demonstrated multiple times even if they were insecure about it.

Ishigami and Tsubame are little more than strangers by comparison. Tsubame emphasizes wanting to get to know him before coming to a decision on whether she should date him, which actually makes some sense. At the same time, that clues us into the fact that Ishigami doesn't know her either. He hasn't really gotten to know her before asking her out, and I think that's going to be a mistake on his part.
As I said before, I believe the story is building up to them actually coming to know one another. Everything that's happened so far feels like it emphasizes that they're strangers. There are constant miscommunications between them, Tsubame herself brings up that she doesn't know him at all, she's shown 'speaking a different language', her face is shown faded out when she lies, and so on.

The end result is that he either falls in love with Tsubame for real, after getting to know her, or his crush eventually fades and they wind up as friends.

Putting aside any biases I have, this is probably the direction Aka is going with this, though I think it'll be more of a: through her interactions with him and self reflection she'll understand her own reasons for not wanting to be in a serious relationship, I'm not sure if I want her to back down on how she views things though, her problem was leading him on, not preferring it to be casual itself. And if she must still reject him then have it be that they just have totally conflicting views on romance and part amicably based on that.

I don't think it is happening regardless but it'll be interesting to see how she's handled from here.

Well, yeah. I think it might just turn out that they aren't really looking for the same thing right now. Tsubame might be scared of more serious romance, but that doesn't mean it's what she's really looking for either, nor does it mean that she'll change herself for Ishigami. She feels pressured with how serious Ishigami is, doesn't want to hurt him, and seeing him with Miko prompted her to try giving him a chance, but she really doesn't seem like she's ready for a serious relationship.

And that's probably how it all ends. Nothing horrible or awful. Just her not feeling she can give Ishigami what he wants right now, because she has different priorities and just doesn't feel the same way about him.

I think it's quite obvious doesn't know Tsubame at all. He imagined her room to be extremely girly when she is actually sleeping in a hammock, doesn't know about Tsubamese when her friends are acting like it's something obvious, and see her as the epitome of purity
when she, regardless of her true reasons and feelings, wanted to have sex with a guy she doesn't intend to go out with. He genuinely loves her but he idealized her a lot to make him close to a typical otaku delusion. He's so delusional about her that I would even say that considering his reasons for loving Tsubame, he could have under the right circumstances fallen for Fujiwara. It didn't happen because he got to actually know her and we know how low his opinion of her is right now. But I feel like he could have idealized her in the same way he does towards Tsubame if he had only seen her obvious good points that are similar to Tsubame (a bright person that is nice to a loner like him). That's the whole point of the joke when he said he could fall for her if he isn't cautious. And if you think about it, those qualities are also what led him to be attached to Kyouko.
Anyway, the point is that Ishigami is in love with an idealized view of Tsubame. That doesn't mean he can't get to know and fall for the real one, but after getting his delusions crushed like they were in this chapter, it will be rather difficult.

Agreed, no one is really wrong in this situation and he will forgive her for hurting him, but they're just looking for different things in a relationship and can't provide what the other is asking for. It's a mature take on the subject and would be a nice way for it to end.

I'm still back and forth on how much this will matter desu. It is true he doesn't know much about her, especially if this thing with her only be inexperienced with serious relationships but plenty in casual turns out to be true, but as far as idealizing her goes I'm not sure how much that factors into it at this juncture.

That's why I'm leaning towards his crush eventually fading. Even if his delusions were crushed, I don't think he can just turn off what he's been feeling, and he's no doubt going to interact with Tsubame again.

She was deeply impressed by his confession, doesn't want him to be hurt, wants him to be happy, but she doesn't feel the same way about him. She's not in love with him.
