Togashi doesn't often write backstories in detail or include many flashbacks because he understands that flashbacks as a tool should be used sparingly. Hisoka for example is defined by his lack of backstory, but yet he's a better characterized and more memorable character than any BnHA villains. Why? Because he's fleshed out THROUGH HIS ACTIONS IN THE PRESENT STORY. It's called organic characterization. Something Hori should learn.

Hisoka enshrouded his heart and his lungs with his nen and had it expand and contract to simulate the compression. It's more effective than normal because his nen can provide more pressure compared to someone pumping his chest and that normally the ribcage is usually at risk of damage seeing how you need repeated, forceful pushes to get the blood flowing again. This revival was something that would only work under specific conditions (heart failure) using Hisoka's specific ability.

I hope this helps! I'd suggest sticking with MHA if you're having trouble keeping up with an actually complex manga.
