BDs when?

Did it flop?

Wasn't like the second movie most expected among females? Even above Shinkai's new movie

>¥316,860,800

They got baited by the music video.

What music video?

With 36 million views thanks to a popular singer and great animation it got a lot of hype pre release that it never lived up to in the box office

Nice, I totally missed this.

Was it shit or what?

Same problem with the majority of Japanese films?
They don't know how to end their movie

Well, that's definitely not success, but it still should be profitable in the long term. Producers and sponsors shouldn't be unhappy.

Only niggers like aquariums.

How will it be profitable long term?

It was in production for 5 years, hard to see it as anything but a flop.

It was the typical "let's adapt a 5 volume manga into a less than 2 hour movie" stuff that made the story completely nonsensical.

Obviously BDs and selling license to overseas. Lately lots of non-otaku oriented japanese animated films get theatrical releases overseas including even small european countries.

But it all depends on budget and that's something we don't know about. If it's like $3m then it should be easy to come profitable. If they went all in like complete retards and spent more than $10m then they have only themselves to blame.

Aquariums seem to be a popular date place in Japan, or at least they are on every Japanese movie and drama.

If it gets an Oscar nomination it could boost its popularity.

Isn't it a highly acclaimed manga that also sold really well? The movie just adapted it terribly so there's no real saving it
