DR3 was an advertisment made solely to give exposure to the franchise before the release of V3.
V3 was the result of Kodaka getting sick of the franchise. It was either a middle finger to the fans, or his weird idea of a love letter. In any case it was a shitty send-off. (but DR3 is still worse because it threw the rest of the franchise into the trash after 6 years).

How about the cast being a further degradation in quality from the previous games; becoming even more one dimensional than DR2's walking anime archetypes? Or how about the trials constantly wasting your time with having to wait hours to point out something that's blatantly obvious? (this was a problem since the first game but it's extremely noticeable here). Or how about the game following the same exact shitty formula for murders that started with the first game?
I knew it was shit once I finished Chapter 3 which was the purest definition of "wasted potential" in the series. Imagine what it would have been like if there were two separate murderers and only Angie's killer got executed while the rest of the cast had to work with a murderer for another chapter or two. But no, gotta stick to the formula!
And of course, the final trial is trash. Not only does it drag on for an eternity repeating the same thing over and over again, Kodaka clearly didn't have the balls to actually kill everyone after they were willing to die to end the game for good, which would have been an actual decent ending.
V3 is trash.

Danganronpa was always bad and it was a fluke that Super Danganronpa 2 was a masterpiece.

DR1's trials were so horribly written I almost gave up on the series after the 3rd case. It's why I've always preferred Zero Escape over Danganronpa. I'd rather take a mediocre and ambiguous ending like ZE3: Zero Time Delima, than the whole franchise starting with a wet fart. DR2 is still by far the best one.

It's true that all the problems with V3 were already present in previous titles, but they felt magnified here.
DR1 felt incomplete because there was so little information on the Tragedy, but that was remedied by the rest of the franchise. The same is true for V3 due to it being a new universe, but it will probably never have any sequels or prequels, so its world will remain forever undeveloped.
The virtual world twist and the TV show twist are very similar (both are basically "it was all just a dream), but I think reality show twist is worse because of the lack of worldbuliding I mentioned. There's so little to go on about what the world of V3 is like that I just can't give a shit about anything on it.
