The main point still stands, I think. Shigaraki had a reaction to Ochako showing up, and Ochako seemed to have a reaction to Shigaraki's name being, well., Shigaraki.

Since Shigaraki's memories are scattered by his own admission, an emotional reaction on his part to an individual might imply a past with that individual. I think there is something with Ochako and Shigaraki, if you took the time to read the entirety of my post and not sperg out about using "we" on an collective imageboard you would have seen that I think those two might have some kind of childhood past.

Biggest obstacle to this, of course, is that Shigaraki is at least a decade older than the main cast.

First of all, don't take it the wrong way. The overall sentiment of my point ws that I was happy with the fact you tried and disappointed that the rest of the thread had devolved into poisting the eqivalent of breathed air.

The rest of my criticism was essentially a harsh way of saying 'proofs plz thank' (in part because I was tired with the rest of the thread, and attempting to goad you into responding in the interest of discussion - which worked, albeit a few hundred posts late).
Basic mistakes such as 'he's around a decade older' is what's dragging you down; because by your own lack of understansing of the source material you're making a nonexistant point which actually goes against your theory. Shigaraki is 20 years old (possibly 19 at the start of the narraitve), he's barely 3-4 years older than the main cast; which would be a positive for your theory that him and Ochunko are connected somehow. Their ages aren't an 'obstacle' to your theory, they're a minor point which is *for* your case. If you want an argument, you really need the proofs to convince others.
We need examples of parallels or implications for people to get behind your theory and to disprove basic arguments such as Occams Razor (Why else is Shigs related to Ochaco, assuming that the meeting in the mall wasn't a case of him recognising and not just attempting to evade mass detection? And what if we say the next point is moot too?). I'm not saying pic related is what every theory needs to be (that would be rather extreme when a few solid examples would to the trick for a casual theory), but it certainly puts across more compelling argument for it's theory, doesn't it?
On top, you've got not evidence 'we' discussed anything (just a cap or even linking 1-2 posts in a larger conversation would be sufficient).

Manga. It's actually a pretty clever scene compositionally. The paneling in this page is framed from Hisoka's pov. The shot of Gon and Killua is cut off at the waist implying his visioned focus on their asses. The paneling itself works as a double entendre.

Shattered memories don't work. Shiggy's memories of his childhood up until All for One took him in were shattered; there's nothing to suggest since then his memory hasn't worked perfectly. Given the age difference, the only childhood memory he would have of Ochaco would have been when she was one or younger. Recognizing a 15 year old you last saw as a one year old would be pretty impressive. The most reasonable explanation for Shiggy's withdrawal is, Ochaco's presence made his situation perilous, and it was easier to walk off peacefully and elude the police who would take minutes to get there, than to try to kill her and Deku and get into an immediate fight with any heroes in the area - which might have included All Might and Eraserhead - where he might be defeated or pinned down.

Shiggy's flashbacks: The dog dies. He screams and runs for the house. The grandparents coming out to comfort him, hug him and he grabs them. They die. Mom, coming out ahead of Dad, sees and rushes forward. Shiggy clutches her, she dies. By this time he's hysterical with terror, grief, shock, fear, guilt, and confusion. Dad, understanding, grabs Shiggy by the face with his hand to stop him. Shiggy, fearing another beating, grabs Dad's arm. The pain causes Dad to fire off his own hand based quirk, scarring Shiggy's face as he dies.

Shiggy, finally figuring out it's his hands, cowers on the ground not touching anything and sobbing. Why didn't the heroes he worshiped like All Might come help, rescue him like they're supposed to? Why why WHY he screams, slamming his hands into the ground. A Decay wave hits the house and it crumbles and collapses. Hana, watching paralyzed from an upstairs window, disappears with a scream and Shiggy runs off in panic.

Nearby All for One starts walking after him, pleased when a plan comes together so well.

She's by far the worst written character in this manga.

Not that user, but no, she's not. Not every person going through something horrible gets traumatized and not every person gets traumatized in an exact same way. Shiggi's trauma was reinforced by AfO and his family situation + he's been like that for a very long time, Eri's trauma was alleviated by her being saved and placed in a safe and friendly enviorenment. Also, the whole idea of quirk = literally personality is kinda stupid. Quirks just affect personality a lot when they affect the life of a person in a signigicant way. That's another reason why Eri's trauma was lessen: her quirk can save people too so the whole idea of her being cursed didn't stick that well afterwards.

Long story short, Eri ends up being a bit shy while Shiggy is batshit insane because of the different qualities of their circumstances.
