Wait, Laius, or Chilchak?
Chilchak, canonically
He has 3 adult children. he's a hard working man
It is great that almost every translated DM chapter threads hit the limit so damn quickly lately.
Having no threads in between each months is not really a good sign neither.
good sign of what? its not like talking about a fan translated manga on a purple website helps the author in any way
>Marcilla casually tortures Chil just to tap into his personal life
I fucking hate elves so goddamn much.
>adult children
The fuck? Didn’t he say he was 29? And that Halflings age slower than humans? Did he fuck as a preteen?
>Having no threads in between each months is not really a good sign neither.
what? is a good sign, it means the threads are healty and hadnt been invaded by shitposter retars / animeonlys / contrarian / tripfags / self flaging baits
They age faster and are adults by 14.
That’s just plain fucking retarded.
no u
Halflings age just slightly faster than humans, and their 'adult' age is 14 ((for humans in this world its 16)). You also need to keep in mind that this is basically ye olde medieval times where people needed to start working/popping out kids while they're young.
Given how all his daughters are said to be adults already, I'm guessing they were probably twins/triplets.
*Tzimisce fleshmancer
i hope chilchak makes up with his wife and she sucks his dick
user, there is simply no passable excuse for making a longer-lived species also age/mature faster than humans. It’s contradictory and nonsensical from the surface-level down.
Did the poor bastard get divorce-cucked?
if your mom went to live with you would you let her bring men that aren't your dad home to fuck her?
>haflings in DM
>longer-lived
gtfo speed reader
I still can't believe someone was supposed to marry Lauis.
halflings have a SHORTER lifespan comparable to humans in this setting, don't know how you got longer lifespan
There's also a certain issue with that because being slower to mature it gets into an odd area where you have to examine their intelligence and learning abilities.
It's easier to ignore when they mature at the same rate, but presumably they should be far smarter or atleast learned than other races even as children. Did Marcille just waste decades at school and just coincidentally hit an arbitrary line of maturity when Farlyn did as well? Shouldn't she be far more learned in the ways of magic, but she seemingly isn't even much better than Farlyn.
Probably Lord of the Rings
>longer lived
halffoots live shorter lives than humans, you're thinking of Tolkien again
Lord of the Rings hobbits have very similar lifespans as humans.
>those ears
Marcille a cute!
CUTE!
i thought humans had weirdly long lifespans in lotr? or was aragorn special? i've only watched the movies
Yes, he was special. He had a lifespan 3x longer than a normal human.
Well, Marcille has been implied to be half-elf, with her father being a shorter-lived race, and I think she may have even watched him grow old and pass away? Either they have longer maturity rates like an extended pre-puberty stage, or they hit puberty at around the same and the time they get afterwards is extended beyond a human's life expectancy. I wonder how other stories have handled long-lived races, or if these questions are simply unanswered. I feel like we could very well get these questions explored in this story since we're going deeper into everyone's pasts.
> She seemingly isn't even much better than Farlyn
That's up for debate considering they both basically specced into different things. Farlyn is protection + healing + 'light' spirit magic, generally support stuff, while Marcille is more of a damage dealer with her explosion magic but also heavy into some complex dimensional/dungeon magic too, which can apparently just draw an infinite amount of energy.
Aragorn was a descendent of Numenor and heir of Isildur, yes he was special
> Marcille has been implied to be a half elf
Watch it or you'll call in that one user who goes ballistic at this theory.
oh
Cute sadist.
I wonder how long is Chilchack's dong.
Has fucked 3 times.
Not necessarily, given his age + how old his daughters are I'd say that either Chilchack fucked when he was a minor or the daughters were just twins/triplets.
I would be disappointed if Senshi isn't canonically packing the biggest meat.
How the fuck do you speed read the Lord of the Rings AND Dungeon Meshi? One even has pictures.
>That one doujin where Chilchuck fucked that lady orc and knocked her up
I wish I could find it again.
> Laius's parents are the ones who gave him the dungeon gourmet guide, thus setting off his love of monsters
God they must be cursing themselves.
All dwarfs sport chodes
To be fair, I still think that her father died of a disease and round ears are just neoteneous traits of elves that will sharpen with age.
Laius hasn't spoken to his parents in years, the only thing they know about him is what Farlyn tells them, which is probably the positive stuff.
Literally the first result on ex.
It's pretty obviously going to be Farlyn.
I mean they still know that he didn't want to live a noble life + probably that he deserted the military.
Even with Farlyn explaining, knowing your noble heir and heiress cancelled their weddings and are off trudging through dungeons can't a very comforting thought.
What a good sister
I want this all to never come up again until the ending denouement pages and there's just one panel of Chilchak reconciling with his family with Marcille in the back mindblown about his adolescent grandchildren.
I'd really love to see the group meeting his wife and gushing about how cute she is to Chilchacks embarrassment
I'm pretty sure it's more of a cultural thing with the elves. How you're treated by society affects how you act and perceive yourself maturity wise
This, some 100 year old elf is treated as/seen like a child by society despite being mentally mature simply because if you belong to a race that lives for over a thousand years just doesn't measure up as much world experience.
I always figured elves would also find the knowledge/understanding/prediction of history/future events to be a big part in how maturely they see themselves, since they'd definitely live through a lot of events over the course of 1000+ years.
thanks for the rec
Dungeon Meshi elves, at least in the present era, only live for 500 years max, usually substantially less, according to Marcille.
I was just kind of guessing, though by looking back at it, didn't Kui say this work was similar to d&d rules? So it should be like, 750? When was it that Marcille said elves only live to 500?
I wonder if he’s more horrified about the fact that he managed to knock her up or that his wife will find out.
Fuck off to your daily shonen jump threads
Thinking about the statistical effects of different race's lifespans is pretty interesting
Since Halflings, Humans and Elfs age at different rates, but all live at roughly the same pace. The day is 24 hours long no matter how many of them you see, so you get to take about the same number of actions per day regardless of your race.
So for people in dangerous trades like Adventuring, they've all got roughly equivalent odds of dying on the job on a given day, but a Halfling's lifetime of adventuring might be half as many days as a Human's of similar proportional ages, and 1/10th an Elf's.
It looks like retiring safely from adventuring isn't a particularly uncommon fate, but neither is dying without revival, so for both results are statistically relevant.
What that means is that Halflings probably consider a life of adventuring to be relatively slightly more safe than Humans would, because the ratio of Halflings dying to old age instead of suffering an early death compared to Humans would be higher, since they have less time to take risks. It also means that Elves in dangerous professions probably almost never live to die of old age, because you don't just need to survive 30 years of dungeons or battlefields, but 300+.
I bet that would play into cultural opinions of those professions. In a Halfling family, your son going off to be an adventurer is probably less of a big deal than for humans, and it's probably nearly unthinkable for an elf to put themselves at such risk so early into their life.
>was aragorn special?
He's like, 1/64th elf and has a bit of what could be likened to Angel blood from way back in the family tree when one of his ancestors had too much game for mere creatures of flesh and blood.
Dude's like 70 by the time he meets Frodo.
I mean it makes sense in the Halflings case to become adventurers since that's one of the few professions that would compliment their physical advantages.
It must be pretty damn hard to live in a medieval world with the general strength/stature of a child, but if you go into adventuring, you'd be pretty well appreciated for your acute sense of hearing ((which can detect approaching enemies, give your group a chance against mermaids, hearing lock tumblers, etc)) and your light weight ((which is suited very well to disarming traps without triggering them))
Even with the dangers that adventuring presents, a halfling isn't even generally a front line fighter as we see with Chilchack, they seem to take the role of ranged defence, if they have to get involved with the fight at all.
In the movie they made him much younger, but Frodo himself is of respectable adult age for a hobbit when the ring debacle starts. Don't remember exactly, but IIRC he's around 30 or older.
> Frodo
> respectable age
nah, he was a milksop by hobbit standards
What is it about loli Marcille that makes her so damn adorable?
I think a bit after the dragon fight where they were discussing the Mad Sorcerer.
Ancient Elves could live for 1000+, Modern Elves live for about 500. Thistle is old as fuck, and has clearly found a way to achieve immortality at least in his domain, likely by tapping into the shitload of dungeon manna.
>In her dream, she has The Sorcerer's book
CONCERN.png
> Marcille in her dream is afraid of death, specifically old age ((according to Laius))
> Wanted to save her dad/Farlyn from suffering that fate
> Could apparently only do so with the sorcerers book
> Sorcerer was also interesting in immortality and wanted everyone in the kingdom including Derhgal to live forever
> Mr Tance says the elves only investigate/take control of dungeons because they want the secret of immortality
That's what this shit is going to boil down to in the end huh? I hope Marcille doesn't go AWOL trying to get that power.
he's 90 in lotr and eventually lives to be over 200
The immortality/soul trap is unique to that dungeon, specifically because of Thistle.
Marcille has been setting up red flag about her fear of people aging all over. just like the mad sorcerer
Marcille confirmed true ending boss
I see, interesting.
I'm guessing in Thistles case he's probably irrevocably changed himself, so even if he is an ancient elf he isn't relying on that lifespan anymore.
You're probably right in that he's either tapping into or bonded himself somehow to the 'infinite magic' dimension in the dungeon or whatever, though I wonder if that method is imperfect, even if it only worked inside the dungeon it doesn't really make sense as to why he didn't use it on the old kingdom people so they can at least roam around the dungeon as they like, even if they can't leave.
I'd guess it has something to do with the infinite magic dimension thing that is present in dungeons, and thistle had figured it out somehow.
Even so, having immortality even just within dungeons is magic there could be wars over, and who knows if they'd ever be able to figure out how to make it work on the surface too.
I'm thinking he did, you're just fucked if your body is itself is destroyed. The King dragged his raggedy corporeal ass up to the surface then promptly turned to dust, but his actual soul itself got away. That seems to be the part Thistle cares about, he doesn't realize that he's talking to miserable ghost people who want to die.
> I'm thinking he did
I don't think so, in the 'golden land' chapter Derghals grandson or whoever said that anyone who tried to leave their little sanctuary lost their bodies, which resulted in many of the dungeon spirits, including the ones on the lower level who have left but still have their sanity since I guess theres more magic or some shit.
They don't necessarily age too much faster. Laius said people are considered adults where he is from at 16.
Chilchack probably married and knocked up his wife around 14-15.
His race is called Duendain you fucking trilogyonly speedniggers. Matter of fact, they even covered it in the movie in the deleted scenes, so even if you are a subhuman who hasn't read Tolkien, you still don't have any excuse.
**In addition, he mentions there were a lot of 'preparations' they had to do in order to get Derghal to the surface, so I don't think he was just able to go normally.
Imagine
I'd imagine that's just any elf who doesn't keep to their own species exclusively
>grandchildren
Fuck, I hadn't thought of that. He may already be a grandpa and not know it yet holy shit.
I feel like the daughter his mom was staying with probably would have wrote to him if any one of them got pregnant/had a kid.
Frodo had just turned 50 when he set off. Maturity for a Hobbit was 33 with common life expectancy of 100. So he had been a man for 17 years on journey start and was basically a mid-20s bachelor in human comparisons. Not that this has any bearing on anything else using Halflings.
A valid point, but how long have they been down in the dungeon? You have to remember that they hardly spent any time on the surface after Farlene sent them back up, they just split up, made their new plans and went right back in with Senshi.
It's got to be close to two months at least.
> How long have they been down in the dungeon?
I think it was said at some point to just be a vague couple of months, but I at least don't think it's been a full year.
And even then, during that short time it seems like Chil would've been able to check with whatever postal service runs on the island to see if he'd gotten any mail, specially considering how long it takes to get to the lower levels.
Marcille's dad died of old age, so there's an extra bit of childhood trauma playing in her case.
Never explicitly said he died of old age, Laius just makes the observation that he 'must've died ""young""' whether that means he was an elf who died at a relatively young age or a human who died 'young' by Marcille/an elfs perspective is unclear.
Though yeah, with the monster in her dream apparently being a representation of death by ageing it seems more likely that it was the latter situation.
I thought the implication was pretty clear.
Eh, I'd rather not say for sure until we see it, Farlyn being thrown in there as well makes it seem a bit vaguer, considering she wasn't exactly in danger of dying of aging for a while yet, but Marcille says that the only way she 'saved' Farlyn from being eaten by the monster was by turning her into a puppet ((which I assume is meant to be analagous to her making Farlyn part of the dungeon to revive her)), she wasn't saving Farlyn from aging, she was just saving her from death.
But again, that being said, all things seem to point the way of it being an age related thing, ((Id just wouldn't call it confirmed outright)) maybe Marcille was looking for a spell of immortality so that everyone she loves won't die like her dad did, even if its still down the road a bit.
>Laius saw himself as a white wolf in Marcille's dream
>Latest chapter has him saying he wanted to be a quadrupedal monster
Laius is kind of a weird guy.
No shit, sherlock
Humanity must be shed for the dungeon to be conquered. All things require an equal tribute.
This is an evil elf that specialized in dark and forbidden magics.
Say something mean about her!
I’ve tried. I’ve failed. I’ve tried again countless of times and it just won’t work. I just can’t see this series end without Laius and Marcille getting together in the event they both survive.
Generals are a cancer that kill discussion of a series. It sounds good at first having constant discussions but what that really means is all discussions get drawn out until there's nothing else to discuss and then people start talking about nothing until there's more garbage than actual discussion.
Honestly I'm a little nervous at how many threads we've been having right now.
Halflings ARE NOT longer lived in this setting, you idiot.
the lack of panties
Does it have any rape?
Yer ears are fat.
He also said his favourite type of monsters are worgs.
As it is, I think Laius just really likes dogs.
I bet the winged lion they're going to find will end up acting like a big stupid dog and Laius will love it.
Not quite. While hobbits and middle men CAN live as long, hobbits reached 80+ far far more often than men ever did.
Aragorn was a Dúnedain, meaning he was descended from a race granted by the Valar (Really powerful angels essentially) longer lives and great physical, mental and spiritual strength than other men, as a reward for their ancestors, the Edain, helping the elves fight against the first dark lord, Morgoth, in Beleriand in the first age.
Aragorn in particular was a descendant of Isildur, and thus of the royal line, meaning he had some elf and even Ainur (the term for the whole class of angels, both the powerful Valar and the less powerful Maiar (which is what gandalf, saruman and sauron all were)) blood from being descended from Lúthien.
Also as a result of that fact, Arwen is his first cousin something like 30 times removed
