Altho I don't think Fate is hailed for its achievements in the story/scenario department. It's well regarded for its character/story 'universe' which works like a fun and limitless sandbox for anyone who walks into it.
It's about a society of mages who follow a very specific set of rules, have a very specific relationship to magic, and encounter very specific challenges in their interaction with each other and the church. Despite story-wise the franchise feeling somewhat random and all-over-the-place, the general overlapping 'theme' remains solid, interesting, engaging, and forever appealing. Especially once you realize that this same theme spans multiple TM story franchises beyond Fate, and impacts the lives of a plethora of other characters and time-frames.
I'm fairly confident all TM fags are obsessed with the theme and to a much lesser extent with any specific story.

Stay Night plot is build around the deconstruction of a shonen protagonist. Fate and UBW are good but made with some shonen issues. Heaven's Feel is the peak of the franchise but can't work without the 2 previous route.

If you can get into chuuni stuff Fate is actually pretty decent at world building, it has everything an autist who wants to immerse themselves into a fantasy world wants. From a detailed magic system, to plenty of backstory and the whole concept of heroic spirits. Not to mention that stuff like Gae Bolg vs Fragarach in Hollow/Ataraxia is peak bullshit chuuni kino.

Shirou Emiya is a fascinating MC that takes time to appreciate. Once you think of the holy grail war as a backdrop to explore heroism and Emiya’s story does FSN generally improve. Nasu is also good at world building and keeping the reader interested in his unique take on magic in the modern world with Buddhism.

ServaFes story is enjoyable. All those interactions, servants working together to make doujins and the whole Comiket/Luluhawa concept as well as the design, background arts, doujin CEs are very very nice. Overall it is pretty good for a summer event except that terrible special gimmick.

Using Takeuchi artstyle is already not a really good decision but since Cloverworks outright say Babylonia is their first priority now, it should be decent at least. They will add more SoL scene according to an interview, and a new PV (maybe Camelot PV too) will be released in FGO Fes.

Shirou is the hardest Nasu MC to self insert into bar maybe Mikiya and he's not an MC.

This imagery *could* work if it were condensed into one or two understated lines, as a small, well-timed poetic observation in between more down-to-earth prose. Isolated and stretched it into six lines full of repetition and purple prose, it just becomes pretentious. I've never read anything by Nasu, but just based on this, I can see why his writing is so divisive.

The pseudo-Shakespearean style of that last translation makes it even worse. The booming-blooming word play is clever, but everything else reads like it was written by a teenager with a thesaurus.
