Not really since this came later in the series, Inosuke went through two great events that made his character change a bit: 1) His defeat against the Spider "brother", 2) Kyoujuro's death. Inosuke mellowed after each of these events, the first through Tanjiro and Zenitsu cheering him up after he felt weak for getting his ass kicked for the first time ever, that's where he accepts Tanjiro and Zenitsu as his friends, and when Kyoujuro died fighting Akaza it was the time Inosuke first admired and cried for someone.

Never got the impression that he would die, doesn't really make sense narratively, unless his backstory reveals something. The deaths of Rengoku and Shinobu made sense. The former was this pillar of strength and courage who the MC looked up to so his death was used to push the MC while the latter wanted to avenge her beloved sister, and finally got to reunite with her entire family.

Real talk, people who think the series is ending are missing all the hype around every time a character dies they hype the main cast as becoming Pillars who will succeed them, why would the main cast even become Pillars if the series ends in a few more Volumes or so? With Muzan dead there's really no reason for the Demon Slayers to even exist anymore.

A Pillar promotion is on due anytime soon, and Muzan will escape this battle (pulling an Inu-Yasha story structure) or a new sudden group of villains will replace him (pulling a Dragonball story structure).

Adding to that Inosuke’s mask also got removed and no mark was to be seen during the whole UM2 fight, although you could be onto something as everyone who has manifested the mark has been in a sudden death situation with extreme fury. Sucks because it’s so interesting but we’ll wait for spoilers and see

Yeah, it's hard to tell what will happen, which makes it pretty interesting. Inosuke had the perfect setup for getting the mark but he didn't. Snake might not get it either, but I'm leaning more towards him getting it because it could tie into his backstory. But then again Inosuke also had a backstory chapter but he still didn't get it.
This reminds me on how they were telling the pillars that they stopped talking about the existence of the marks because people felt bad that they weren't getting it. It feels like the audience has this expectation for marks now that we know about it so it's kind of disappointing when it doesn't happen, so now we know how they were feeling.

Now that I think about it, maybe the mark is caused by exposure to demon blood over a long period of time. Not enough to turn into a demon, though.
It does make a mark similar to demon crests and both Tanjirou and Tokitou were poisoned when they developed the mark.
Imagine if killing Muzan killed all marked hunters.

Wouldnt explain how Mitsuri got hers though, I hope it gets explained soon because all the hunters so far have met the criteria that Tokitou has specified no doubt and no one awakened but Tomioka, IMO only one hunter so far to awaken this arc given that the marks got two plus chapters for explanation + hype and the whole point of pillar training was to see if someone could awaken it such is sort of underwhelming, although I am confident that the main new gen hunters will all awaken it in the final fight, just a matter of when + if we are gonna get a new and more in depth explanation on the whole thing

It was explained how to supposedly trigger the mark, not why it happened. Being in a life and death situation might heighten your senses and make you not feel pain for a while due to adrenaline, but you don't get a super boost in strength and most importantly you don't get a mark in a weirdly fitting shape. It definitely has to do with demons, maybe it's similar to what Genya does.
