My problem lies with the deeds of evil characters. Some just don’t kill but torture and get a rise out of making people suffer. In this case death by the hero is the only relief from the evil character’s madness.
If a person deems the hero “to be just as bad” they are over simplifying the hero’s actions. It’s not a life for a life, it’s a series of atrocities that will otherwise never be stopped should the evil character be allowed to live.
And around this time someone will say “but we can imprison evil character” who’s to say he will not escape? Who’s to say he will not continue to cause more suffering to others imprisoned with him? To me, only death can end evil and suffering the evil character enjoys to inflict.

I forget exactly but, essentially he was a continued existence no matter what worlds she made, and his power is to essentially erase any time of magic or power in existence with his right hand, but getting rid of it entirely could make some type of disaster happen, and every single time he came back with it, so instead of trying to erase the power, she resorted to breaking his spirit so he wouldn't get in the way.
The final world she made was basically a perfect world where everyone was happy, but his existence was basically unnecessary for any of it to happen. The torture porn aspect was clearly to hype her up, since she was a villain alluded to for a while, but then downgraded to minuscule harem member.

Unlike Higurashi, most of the people Rikka was trying to save, were being manipulated by a disease that made people highly neurotic and prone to violence or self harm, that's completely different from a guy being made to suffer for millions of years in worlds made specifically to break him as a person so she could use his power for her plan, and then the "background system of plot device" stops him from committing suicide in the last world attempt, and he talks her out of it and then acts like he owes her anything by protecting her, and "lasting damage" is minimal, even though he should have long forgotten how to act like a proper human being due to how long he kept being tortured, or how to address his friends normally after all the alternate experiences.
If Index was trying to portray itself as a hot blooded shonen show, I wouldn't find it as bad, since it's supposed to be ridiculous, but no, it takes itself extremely seriously for the most part when it comes to major events, or villains.
What the fuck is the comparison even supposed to be about anyway? "Oh this other show had time rewind, so it's the same thing", that's not how it fucking works.
