Not OP, but it's an abstract kind of comfiness, you wouldn't understand. I also think Dark Souls is comfy in its own way. I believe it has something to do with the fact that except a few characters, the world is empty. It creates a sense of isolation, it's almost like you are in your own personal universe that's just waiting to be explored. The same kind of comfiness like being in an isolated cabin in the woods for example.

This show was a lot better than I expected. I loved how it did the combat and how the weapons actually felt like they carried weight. The fact that it was about a whole group of kids instead of an MC-centric harem set-up like nearly every other LN-adapted isekai was nice too.

There isn't as much of a difference as there is for Shield, but the author writes his characters and their attitudes a bit differently (Ranta seems a bit more despised, Haru is a little bit more of a beta for a while, etc.). The author comments on this in a few of his afterwords

Yeah, I hate the kind of shows that try to be "mature" by putting as much violence and profanity in them as possible, but Grimgar doesn't fit that description at all. I had high hopes for Goblin Slayer for this reason, but it really didn't turn out too well. The goblins are cartoonishly evil just for the sake of being evil. The mc is riddiculously OP and immediately forms a harem...
Grimgar stays realistic, perhaps with the slight exception in the end. I don't think it was wise to go into the mines and I wonder how did they even survive all that, but I'm willing to overlook that. I'm also anime only, so I don't know if this trend continues or not.

Grimgra fights harder enemies. If there is a second season, I think intelligent orcs are next who have similar height and size to humans so its the hardest challenge for the cast but they aren't soloing like Goblin Slayer but joined up by the army.

That's the difference Grimgar has. The isekai world army in Grimgar actually recruits adventurers to fight big monster clans instead of just leaving it all to the adventurers so regular soldiers are participating as well.

However, I heard people complain that Grimgar starts turning weird in later volumes.

Well, I mean, that's enough already. I'd imagine his life to be lonely when his only purpose is killing goblins. I would expect to see him deal with it and struggle to form relationships. It would make for an interesting and somehow slightly more realistic and mature story. Instead we immediately get cute priestess girl who wants to follow him no matter how autistic he acts, that farm girl with big tits who's heads over heels for him, that guild chick who blushes whenever he talks to her. He even forms a relatively generic D&D party later on with that cute elf chick who is actually hundreds of years old (very overused trope).
The show isn't that bad, but it baited me into thinking it would become something more serious than your usual isekai, but the difference is just on a superficial level.

I really like the creative aspect of the fantasy genre, so I wish they would come up with something interesting and new instead.

Just in the beginning, when the entire party of newbies gets trashed, the priestess is saved by Goblin Slayer who wipes out the entire camp. In that context, he was op and a hero to make her fall for him. There are many such moments in the show, where GS is the only one who comes up with a way to win, he is almost the only one making rational, valuable decisions. Even though he comes close to being defeated relatively often, he always somehow wins in the end.

I hated him at first but he was the only realistic one, and he never acted fake unlike everyone else. He's bold enough to admit he has his own flaws and calls everyone out on how bullshit they are. Even Haruhiro admitted that he stayed true to himself.

Moguzu was way better than anyone gave him credit for. I think he's the only one that figured out Ranta was probably just scared of being a tank since the party never bothered to consider that being a tank is scary as shit.

Pretty high chance. Ranta's a fraidycat hiding behind bluster from what I recall and they were basically telling him to run into the sharp pointy things without thinking about what being a tank means for the tank until much later. It wasn't until the big guy that became their tank got a fucking helmet that MC even considered that tanks DON'T LIKE being hit and can be afraid that they would die.
