Why was he such a good protagonist?
Why was he such a good protagonist?
>THIS IS MY FINAL FORM... UNTIL THAT IS DEFEATED I WON'T REVEAL MY TRUE FINAL FORM, THEN YOU MAY GET TO SEE MY FINAL FINAL FORM, WHICH IS ACTUALLY THE BETA VERSION OF THE FINALE™ FORM
Bleach is garbage
what is his motivation?
Protect his friends and finish highschool with above-average grades
he wanted to move out of his dad's
Didn't cry like a bitch (deku)
wasn't an idiot (Goku,luffy)
wasn't OP (Saitama,Seiya,Gon,Yusuke,Naruto)
To be a completely average human being.
Revolutionary character building by Kubo Tite.
It's teh beginning episodes. Without the beginning episodes the rest of teh series makes no sense. So everything up to after he's picked up from being wounded by byakuya. THat opening with rukia is sexy and that sword he carries stole the show and attention from all other shonens and game characters.
Based and truthpilled
Ichigo is motivated to do the right thing, even if it means breaking the rules. He rescues Rukia because he owes her for giving him powers, and rescues Orihime because he's smart enough to figure out that she was kidnapped by Aizen.
this so much
ichigo feels so much like a normal character unlike deku, ruffy etc.. anyone that says otherwise is 9 years old
>Feels like a normal character
Isn't that a bad thing?
He was decent at the start because he wasn't an ADHD kid like his competition in wan piss and naruto then it just ended up with him being a mary sue by being half everything secretly and the strongest being ever who could magically do anything
Literally just be normal person that helps whenever they can because dickheads around him guilttrip him into fighting.
Ichigo is actually a scared crybaby, both Tatsuki and Rukia told us that much. Not to mention Yhwach.
To protecc and attac
But most importantly, Kubo is a hacc
tall, handsome, normal, Idhigo was the shonen chad.
>Didn't cry like a bitch
Fullbring and Quincy arcs say hi
>wasn't an idiot
He was a fucking mouthbreather
>wasn't OP
He was, and a special snowflake on top of that
Based
>and the strongest being ever who could magically do anything
>
Very easy to tell which anons didn't read Bleach ITT
Where's that new chapter hunter"chad"?
He loses the majority of hia fights and even when his true power is released he loses against Aizen
he went from a family man to a battle maniac
Kubo did a pretty good job at reverting him back by the end
having Ichigo go through 4 lifetimes' worth of bullshit might have had something to do with it
The heart
>Revolutionary character building
Unironically it is for battle shonen
Motorboat Orihimie’s orihimies
He's realistic and handsome.
Handsome part is the most important. He's the only MC where i'm like "damn, you lookin good tonite bb ;)"
I prefer a balanced boy so I'm glad he has so many realistic traits + nice body, height and face. The majority of Bleach male characters are good looking though.
Maybe at the beginning, but he lost most of his emotion halfway through and just became "stoic determination". The only saving grace of the fullbring arc (besides more waifus, of course) was the fact that we got to see more of the emotional side of ichigo again.
>mfw we'll never get a shounen protag this handsome and cool again
All the shounen protags from this decade have been annoying fags and twerps like Deku.
I would give my firstborn for more art by Kubo
I want more IH art from him ;_;
He is meh after the Soul Society arc. A pity.
I like both.
That's a weird way to spell IR
He wasn't a manlet
No thanks I don't like IR.
>IRfags
>knowing how to spell
Also, happy birthday to best boy Ichigo.
Zoro is more handsome
Zoro is not an MC and no
Literally every other character in that show was more interesting than him
Go to bed, Kubo.
Not even close. Bleach's big problem was always that it had millions of irrelevant characters that no gave a shit about
>irrelevant characters that no gave a shit about
If only, faggots always complain that their background character waifu didnt get preferential treatment. See: Tatsuki
Tatsukifags are just shitposters from Yea Forums. Normies don't even remember who Tatsuki is.
This isn't a bad thing though, Bleach's ensemble cast was a huge draw for most people, which is why its popularity exploded during Soul Society.
This is pure delusion. Ichigo isn't even the most popular character in Bleach.
...
Go back to dumblr, sadchigo. And stop thirsting for our cock like a cum-hungry slut.
>Ichigo isn't even the most popular character in Bleach
Thats Hitsugaya thanks to fujos
>character
Maybe in the beginning, but he's glorified plot device after Soul Society.
>not knowing what a plot device is
Point still stands. You'd have to be pretty boring to think Ichigo is the most interesting Bleach character. Not that I think Hitsu is much better in that regard.
Ichigo is the 3rd most popular character, after Hitsugaya and Rukia
But he wasn’t?
He was literally the most passive and unemotive main character in battle shounen history. A concrete column with a sharpied-on frowny face would have had as much presence and depth in the lead role.
I don't know who that is, fuck off trannie
This isbeyond speedreading
I too can make baseless claims.
I'm mostly a NarutoTard but I still liked bleach and ichigo character was a breath of fresh air.
An IR dumblrfag who's been stalking our threads for months because she can't cope with people who laugh at her shipperfag autism.
Why would you highlight HxH here? It's only 8th on the list, surely comparing bleach to One Piece would be a better choice?
His chadness and his dub and sub voice are god tier.
Because that would defest the purpose of the false flag?
He wasn't a braindead moron like Luffy, I really like what I've read of One Piece but Luffy can be obnoxious as shit at times, it's your stereotypical loud-mouthed hyperactive sociopathic battle shonen MC.
>she
KEK, If it wasnt dumblr I wouldn't believe you. But yeah, I just post IR because i dislike Orihime posters, not because I actually care about shipping
>But yeah, I just post IR because i dislike Orihime posters, not because I actually care about shipping
Who are you trying to fool?
stop bully
You did this to yourself
Would Bleach have been better if Ichigo spent the entire run aggressively trying to be a normal guy and only started fighting when someone dragged him into some bullshit again?
That's basically bleach already
Bleach is already like that
Not really, that Ichigo was always at odds with the part of himself that desired fighting was definitely part of his appeal.
Manbearpig
You've placed an image of Ichigo, where Yusuke Urameshi should have gone.
Your nostalgia is showing.
Ichigo is better developed than Yusuke. The latter failed to grow out of his delinquent role, which lead to the cluster fuck that was the Three Kings Arc.
Ichigo knew to never get involved in spirit cases and only help Soul Society out.
>This hambeast again
So much for her claims that she doesn't lurk here.
Was Bleach that good or it's just my nostalgia lying to me
Try a reread if you're not sure. I liked it for what it was, I don't buy into the need to bash other manga to make me feel better about my tastes.
He doesn't have a goal but a job, which is still something that comes with motivation and can still be something one can be passionate about. His job as a shinigami is similar to that of a police officer or a fire fighter where its about being on the alert and reacting to and dealing with situations. This leads him down a journey and the story focuses on the instances where its relevant to the overarching story.
Mommy issues
Name three other series with mainstream popularity that had/have protagonists that were flatter and more reactive than Ichigo “I literally have no life goal I am striving towards” Kurosaki. I’ll wait.
Jojo part 4, YuYu Hakusho, Dragon Ball
>baseless claims intensify
You haven't even proven your own argument, therefore I have nothing to refute. Try reading the thread if you don't know what Ichigo's goals are.
>I literally have no life goal I am striving towards
You user
Wait Jojo part 1 and 2 also count
Luffy is superior to Ichigo. Luffy has a motivation instead of just "protecting muh friends" like it's fucking Fairy Tail or some shit. He also solves fights in interesting ways besides just shooting a bigger blade beam cuz Luffy took the time to actually train to be versatile. Ichigo had potential but it went nowhere.
>rescues Orihime because he's smart enough to figure out that she was kidnapped by Aizen.
That was an obvious trap that everyone told him was a trap. Ichigo was being dumb there. Ichigo is pretty stupid actually and would've died if not for all his hidden powers. Like Naruto.
>animeonly secondary talking about filler
You belong in the trash. With your opinion.
>muh adventure
>punch harder
>meat!
>Luffy has a motivation instead of just "protecting muh friends"
His goal is achieving a made up title that ultimately means "being the strong guy", any goal Luffy has past that is literally protecting his nakama so you're not really saying much here. Ichigo is a human teenager who lives in an analouge of our reality, and thus his life goals reflect the setting.
>besides just shooting a bigger blade beam
Punching with a bigger rubber fist, yeah thats so much better.
>Ichigo is pretty stupid actually
Being stubborn =! being stupid. His combat intelligence is pretty high and I believe he placed top 20 in his class at Karakura High.
Joseph actually did have a goal though, protect his family, and he handled his problems in a notably different way from Jonathan, with tricks and guile instead of pure strength and honor, which retroactively fixes many of the things people found lacking in Jonathan, since now those boring stoic traits of Jonathan are complete opposite of Joseph's extravagant personality so they serve to highlight a more effective way of doing things in many ways.
I think a real issue with Ichigo was that he lacked much personal stake in fighting Aizen. Even against Yhwach, the guy who killed his mother, Ichigo barely seemed to care or be involved with the fight. This is why people wondered why he was the main character after Aizen's defeat.
>I think a real issue with Ichigo was that he lacked much personal stake in fighting Aizen.
His stake was stopping Aizen from killing his sisters and destroying his hometown, what more do you need?
>Even against Yhwach, the guy who killed his mother, Ichigo barely seemed to care or be involved with the fight.
You couldn't be more wrong; Ichigo saw Yhwach as his enemy as soon as he attacked Soul Society. Ichigo always blamed himself for his mother's death, he had already grown past that sort of juvenile revenge motive at that point in the story.
>Ichigo actually did have a goal though, protect his family
>Joseph lacked much personal stake in fighting Karz
Luffy wants to be free. That's what motivates him to fight. That's where the conflict between the Pirates Vs Marines comes from. It ties into the main plot of One Piece as a very clear theme.
Ichigo wants a normal life. Except he also wants to be a Shinigami. So of course in the end, he runs the family clinic. That makes sense I guess? It just doesn't really feel like Bleach was building towards the ending with the final conflict. Being normal didn't seem like a strong theme in Bleach since all the characters are strange as shit, especially in the final arc. It almost did with Aizen wanting to find someone like him to be "normal" or "accepted" but then we get Yhwach and that's thrown out the window. Fullbringers aren't worth mentioning here. They could have done this theme well though, but they didn't so whatever. That's probably more an issue of Bleach itself than Ichigo, so fine, Ichigo is a good character that deserved a story with more appropriate theme.
I forget, was Ichigo the only one that could stop Yhwach? That seemed to be a thing at first but then The Arrow came into play.
As boring as he eventually became he was still leagues better than Deku and Asta
You never understood from the beginning. Ichigo accepted his role as a Shinigami, it was never his goal to become one. Because he blamed himself for Masaki's death he felt it was his duty to protect those who couldn't protect themselves. By the end of the story Ichigo has accepted thats too large a responcibilty to place on himself, and he allows himself to rely on others (like Orihime).
Thematically, Bleach is about accepting death and life as two halves of a whole. Yhwach feared death, which is why he wanted to become God so that he could live forever. Its not about good or evil, its simply about the natural order of the universe. Everyone loves to hate on Soul Society but in the end its just a product of how humans view the afterlife, and even that can improve gievn enough time. Its a far more realist work than most battle shounen, which are purely fantasy with idealist themes.
See, but now that makes Ichigo sound like the generic shounen hero that learns to rely on his friends in the end. That doesn't make Ichigo unique or not boring. It makes him similar at best.
Are you m/a/d?
Ichigo is trash, that's why he couldn't carry his trash manga.
I'll say it again TRASH
>generic shounen hero that learns to rely on his friends in the end
Luffy
Cope
>It makes him similar at best.
Guess you can't read.
Rukia was the mc
Your own argument is that Luffy is superior despite you now agreeing that at their core, their motivations are basically the same? Your argument needs work, user.
I liked that he just wanted to live his life. That said, "I don't want to get in the Robot/Bankai" before every story arc would get exhausting. I think it's an understandable point of view, but it should have been handled better.
He was near the end. He was a mix of every powerset they'd shown in the series. The only reason he got his balls rocked so hard is because the final BBEG was basically omniscient.
Unironically this
>He was near the end. He was a mix of every powerset they'd shown in the series.
And even then there were still plenty of opponents he had no chance of defeating, such as Askin. Having the capacity for multiple sets of powers didn't make him unbeatable, and he never learned any Quincy abilities.
can ichigo even be called a character? it enver felt like it was his story, he shoehorned everywhere because he was the MC
I'd unironically love to watch a show a version of Bleach from Rukia's perspective post soul society rescue.
>can ichigo even be called a character?
Yes, cope
>can ichigo even be called a character?
This was never in question.
It would be exactly the same except for her version of the timeskip, which was covered in one of the novels.
but he isn´t
First arc, he took a leap of faith to protect his family and a stranger in order to kick a demon's ass, and he clinched it like a natural, plus he was a highschooler, so it felt relatable.
What did his friends and family give him for his birthday?
Bleach hits some really high points
However it also hits some very low points.
Its very inconsistent.
Some series just sorta coast, floating around 5-7 scale, bleach is more of a 1-10.
The 10s are great, the 1s, not so much.
What points are a 1?
Personally that even when it was revealed that he was the specialist of all special snowflakes he didn't really give a single fuck and just wants to put the hurt on anyone who threats his friends. At the end of the comic he hasn't gone on to be some kind of destined hero or chosen one. He's just a dude living the good life with his friends and family.
And hopefully fucking his wife rotten every goddamned night
He was the most boring part of the show, everyone else was far more interesting than him
He was only good because I dropped it after season 3.
This. Ichigo never gave a fuck about becoming some massive hero with all the glory. He just wanted to save people, emphasis on those important to him and that’s it. He was always happy to go back home after a mission.
I’ll take your adamant refusal to actually defend Ichigo’s character with examples of me being wrong as tacit admission that I’m not.
Cope
user, its commonly understood here that the burden of proof in any discussion falls on the person making the claim. If you can't do so I suggest going back to whatever trash board you came from.
