I don't see how he would be interesting to emo teens, since he is a very kind person with a rather positive outlook on life.

the OPM world is much more interesting than the mob world, not just being the real world + some psychic shit. much more variety. the characters in mob are definitely better, but thats because its a more traditional style of show as compared to the parody that OPM is trying to be. i imagine you havent read the webcomic, but it stays much truer to its roots than the manga or anime does - its a comedy and acts like it, rather than being essentially a shonen manga with an OP protag

the actual problem with mob, esl-kun, is that mob's philosophy (being more powerful psychic doesnt make you better/more important/etc) only becomes convincing to the bad guys after mob demonstrates he is more powerful than them, making him a complete hypocrite

that's why the actual psychic fighting arcs are the worst parts besides the first one vs teruki

I generally agree with to a degree that I find OPM's world to be more interesting, and I also find the characters in it more interesting despite not being as 'well-written', as it were. Not sure why this is except that OPM's brand of humor and self-awareness makes it more fun to see. I like Mob but I feel it taking the whole "all-powerful protagonist" thing more seriously is a detriment for me.

Unfortunately it doesn't help that OPM is in a significantly worse spot thanks to having a shitty season 2 of the anime and greater pacing issues due in part to ONE having been focused on Mob. So I guess I'll say that Mob is 'better' overall, despite my personal preference.

I don't think its that much like OPM. OPM is a parody work played for laughs more than anything while Mob is more or less played straight. The entire tone of the work is different.
