The main criticism against Haki it's not the fact that it's there, it's that everything is Haki is now. Luffy training for Haki, Luffy remembers a flashback about Haki, Luffy realizes the enemy is using a special Haki.
Haki has taken the stage over actual devil fruit powers and people see that as a mistake.

This story has never been about strategy. There are like 5 characters(sengoku,Blackbeard, Whitebeard, Sanji, Ussop, and some others) in total who used some strategy but overall it doesn't exist. The story is about being heroic not being a strategist.

Now is actually the dumbest time to do it. You only have about a 50% chance of being right by saying an arc's formulaic after Sabaody.

This would be a problem... if it always followed the formula. The only regular stretch where it followed the formula since 2008 (Sabaody) was from Fishman Island to Dressrosa. Since then, no regular stretch of following the formula.

She's also the Big Bad, and Luffy gets instantly BTFO'd by her in the arc and never defeats her. The goal isn't even to defeat her either, the arc's simply an infiltration mission. To top things off, the ending doesn't have a party at the end, and a lot of plotlines are left on a somber note instead of a triumphant one.

The problem with underdog stories is that underdogs don't win by getting stronger, they win through luck, preparing more, being cunning, etc, except luffy does none of this except being luckier (plot armor).
Underdogs don't win off flashbacks that make them remember a secret way to win the fight, underdogs don't win off training arcs after the big bad leaves them alive for literally no reason, main characters do - which is why Luffy literally never feels like an underdog even though the story keeps trying to make him one

Soft disagree there friend. Sure we know that Luffy will win because he’s the protagonist, and Luffy getting trapped then running to location has gotten stiff over 20 years. However, saying that One Piece has become predictable recently is just foolhardy. Sanji and the Swirly Hats needing to split up from the current antagonist is something that comes completely out of left field, and nicely frames the Zou arc which messes with the standard formula of OP arcs. WCI also skirts expectations, with Katakuri being introduced at the climax as the final opponent, the whole mystery element with Pudding Pekoms and Bege. Heck, even PH had some great moments with our Kinemon and Joker. How have you felt about these arcs?

The end stage of the fight will probably be Luffy's one-on-one, but I assume he'll be worn down significantly by then. Like I said, it was really well animated, but they fucked with the sequence of events in the scene. The Kaido crewman gets a couple of shots off, which Luffy dodges. I just think it was cooler how in the manga Luffy fucked him up before he could even pull the trigger.

So looking back retrospectively, it actually seems like Luffy's progressing up the ladder of defeating Kaido's army. He started with the most basic henchman. So from this, I think he actually WILL defeat a Commander. Will it be King?

I'm honestly not sure. I see every one of the calamities beaten by someone else. I think Luffy will beat some other strong subordinates, maybe like X-Drake, before the final showdown.

Also, I'm kinda curious as to what happens to Law. I'm not entirely sold on the idea that he will help against Kaidou, crazy as that idea might seem right now. But in any case he will have his victory against a supernova. Oda narratively pushes for Law vs Hawkins, we'll see what comes of that.
